*** Why Hunt Hogs? ***
Our journey into wild/feral hog hunting started like many others living in rural communities. We didn't start hog hunting for fun or sport... we did it because we had to. You see, hogs cause millions of dollars of damage and destruction each year in rural communities and our situation was no different. Hogs were destroying our land and that our of friends and family. The vast majority of hunting stories that you hear about on this channel are hogs, boars and sows, taken from family land... this problem is personal for us...
__________________________________________________
*** Why Hunt Coyotes and Predators? ***
Coyotes and Predators, similar to hogs, cause financial stress for many families in rural communities. Coyotes kill livestock, plain and simple. Ranchers have battled coyotes killing cattle since the early days of ranching and it costs them dearly. Cattle ranching is a business, the cows aren't pets, every time they lose a calf to a coyote those families lose a paycheck. Cattle ranchers hate coyotes just as much as Farmers hate hogs! We hunt coyotes to protect the livelihood of our friends and neighbors that depend on their cattle business to feed their family...

    Pulsar is killing you guys not keeping you stocked up! You guys are definitely my first choice to purchase from but I'll admit that I'm impatient. Had to pull the trigger elsewhere, but still bought what I could from y'all! (ADM mount and battery for my new XQ50 pro) at least I'm still going to be advertising your products. Great show guys thanks. Can't wait to get mine on Friday.

    I’m torn between the Talion XQ35 PRO and the Thermion 2 XQ35/XQ50 PRO. Since they’re have the same specs on Pulsar website but I bet there’re slightly differences between the Talion and Thermion line. Since the Talion is 2499.99, the XQ35 is 2999.99, and the bigger brother XQ50 is 3499.99. To me, $500 to $1000 is not a big problem as buy once cry once always is true. I like the Talion external battery system, (two included), longer run time than the Thermion (7x2=14>8), compactness and lower price. But I do like the traditional look, proven record, durability, mounting option versatility of the Thermion line. But the image quality and FOV are my top priority. So, do you think the extra cash is worth it with the Thermion 2 or just buy the economical Talion model and be done with it? Again, extra money for the better one isn’t an issue with me. I do trust you guys opinion and recommendation. Big fan of the show.

    if you had to pick between this scope and the trail 2 LRF XP50 which one would you pick ?

    We think it would be totally dependent on your specific hunting situation needs. The XP50 is a 2x and the XQ50 is a 3x. The Trail 2 is a 4 year old discontinued model that’s now 3 generations behind the Thermion 2 XP50 Pro LRF so it would be nearly impossible for us to pick the Trail 2. It was a great scope and still gets the job done but Pulsar has made a lot if improvements since then.

    At this point we would not buy the original XG50. Unfortunately it’s outdated and the newer optics have far surpassed it and that’s why it was discontinued. The old XG50 struggles greatly in humidity and bad conditions and the new XQ models FAR surpass it in those bad conditions. Even though they are only 384 resolution we’d take a XQ over the discontinued XG50. And don’t be confused with the new Thermion 2 XG50 LRF that’s coming soon. That unit has a totally different brand sensor than the old XG

These will drop all at once and there will be 4 or 5. (Trying to get the last interview done tomorrow) Then on Thursday 1/19 we plan to release an episode recoded live from Vegas. Then on Thursday 1/26 we plan to have a SHOT recap episode from back here in Texas. So the next few weeks will be SHOT Show overload!😎😎

    In my experience it seemed that these scopes don’t have the accuracy compared to a traditional scope. I’m far from an expert. Hoping you can speak to this.

  • @TheLateNightVisionShow

    @TheLateNightVisionShow

    There is some confusion on this. A thermal scope has a set of crosshairs that are digitally set. Once in place they don’t move and if the scope is mounted correctly and there are no physical defects in the scope to cause movement (extremely rare) then those crosshairs will have the exact same accuracy as if you were using the crosshairs on the most expensive day optic set on the same rifle. However…..the issue is often that when shooting a day optic your bullseye is usually the size of a dime or a nickel and you can see it perfectly. Usually when target shooting a thermal you’re using a bullseye that’s hot, cold or reflective and it usually ranges from 1”x1” to something like a hand-warmer that might be 2”x3.5”. Shooting at a bullseye the size of a dime vs the size of a tennis ball is going to give very different results on paper. That doesn’t even take into account that if using a hot or cold bullseye the heat or cold temperature of your bullseye can be transferred to the rest of your target causing a “bloom” affect and now you’re bullseye could be even larger. There are methods to avoid some of these issues but this is an explanation of why it’s often believed thermal optics aren’t as accurate. So in summary, barring any defects or human error, a thermal scope is 100% as accurate as a daytime scope….the crosshairs aren’t moving inside the scope on either one so there can’t be any accuracy difference. But due to zeroing/shooting methods being different and the human difficulty, people often don’t get the extremely tight groups they might expect to see from their daytime optic. But….we’re still talking about tiny differences that would have 100% no negative effect on killing an animal the size of a rabbit or larger at 200+ yards. I hope that helps a little! Thanks for watching!
