Hi Marc. We thoroughly enjoyed this 2021 “best of” presentation. Over the years we’ve enjoyed many of these places ourselves. This fall we were inspired by your episodes in CO, so we explored these too. We were in those areas (Creede, Crested Butte, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Moab, Lake Mead, etc.) several months (and in some cases, years) after you, but your episodes proved to be great research for us. There were several areas mentioned in this wrap up that we haven’t been to yet, and these are now on our mental list to visit. Thank you for expanding our world, and thank you for your wonderful content. Happy New Year to you, Mrs. GA, and Cloe. Maybe our paths will cross sometime. Travel safely.

Thanks Luann! We actually looked up the local pronunciation for the falls, and the Idaho press association gave that pronunciation we used rather than the pronunciation of the native tribe. Oh well, can't win them all.

No doubt about it, Gord. We needed another full week. Doing it by category provides a little something for everyone. Besides, you can't compare a boondocking site with a full hookup site, or a "best destination" when mountains are so different from deserts which are so different from oceans...they're each wonderful in their own way.

Great videos of the recap of your rv adventures. I just knew Shoshone falls were going to be there. I bet that was awesome. Worth paddling against the current. Thanks Don

Thanks! We long ago realized the futility of ranking destinations against one another, for each is so different.

Drove by the dry camp site pass Dolores this past September on the way to Ridgway and noticed this new camping option that was not there 3 seasons ago. Looked like a nice setup.

Thanks Bill! Happy New Year to you, too. About the music, we start by laying out the video clips on a timeline to get a rough idea of the length of a segment, then filter out music tracks that are of the wrong length. We then go the search results one by one to find one that matches the mood of the video segment. It's worth the effort but time consuming, and that means that sometimes we succeed more than others. This time we felt like we nailed it a bit more than most.

As usual, great video! Thanks Marc. You may have previously covered it but how do you find these places? I'd love to see you do a video on the tools and methods you use to find places like Creed. I'm from Philadelphia and I only get out West every other year or so. I usually end up going to the tourist spots because I don't have enough confidence that I'd be able to find out of the way spots that my 5th wheel can handle. Thanks again, John

Thanks John! As far as finding general areas, we just break out a map and see what looks interesting on paper. It seldom steers us wrong, for you can find interest and beauty just about anywhere if you look hard enough. @@trapezekid you just show up. If you choose to stay in one of the Long-Term Visitor Areas it's a $40 permit fee for up to 2 weeks, or $180 for up to 7 months. You get the permit when you arrive at the entrance to the LTVA. You could stay on BLM land outside of the LTVA at no charge.

Marc, I notice that in most of your hiking and kayaking clips you are alone. Do you solo these adventures or does your wife hike and kayak too?

I'm usually (but not always) solo on that stuff, Jim. Especially with the kayaking or hiking in a place that prohibits dogs, as she'll usually stay behind with Zoe.
