Ep. 23: Winter With My Amazing Deer Friends! 2019
What a roller coaster winter! From a snowy and cold November, to a mild December, then into a mixed bag of weather in January, ending with the dreaded "Polar Vortex"! Temps dropped to -20F with wind chills close to -50F! It was the first time I have seen some of the deer shivering. Thank goodness, they have thick, winter coats to keep them warm. The whole gang has been coming up to visit and get a snack, including little Birdie and Elly Mae, Elly's orphaned fawns. It is so great to see them doing well! Big sister, Adrian, along with her two boys, Duke and Doc, keep watch over those two, and I see them together more and more. I am sure that all of them will be happy when the temps warm up, and the grass starts growing along with the leaves coming out on the bushes and trees.....a big food source for them. I can't wait for warm temps! :-)))

We love wildlife, too, and we presently have 9 deers coming to the feeder at the edge of our yard where the woods begin. Of course, they go all over the yard, too. We haven't tried to make contact with them because we are leery of causing them to become accustomed to humans. They kill them all around us and they even trespass on our land to do it.

@@trenchantsometimes5149 We feed deer too and have hunters everywhere in central KY. They DO get to know YOU and are fearful of humans they don't know, but their downfall is their absolute LOVE of corn and hunters, the lazy bloodlust killers that they are, will use corn to bait them....so the hunters don't have to walk very far, of course. I don't mind somebody that's poor and hungry taking a deer for food, but I HATE trophy hunters. They take the biggest, the best, the bravest, smartest and strongest bucks and DEPLETE THE GENE POOL as they leave lessor bucks to breed. If left alone, the bucks work it out between them who gets to breed. But of course, humans can't leave it alone.....AND.....big, big hunter's lobby that gives control to state's Fish & Game, so we have no say in what Fish & Game does. So we have indigenous species being culled and killed in favor of cattle/sheep/ etc.
I absolutely love watching this. The deer love you.

BOY! Did I need this today! Yes "Dear" friends! What a delight it would be to face that bunch of munchers every day! The music was Great and just the general overview of them coming in to feed. I was on a wild horse sanctuary years ago up at the remote watering pond when two bands came in. Quietly in the trees I was able to watch the interaction of the mares and each stallion from the two different bands figure out who was dominate and who was not. Then watch them settle in for a good long drink--was hot weather. Watching this would make it hard to believe there was No God!

This is absolutely lovely, takes you away from the troubles and pain of the world. I left corn and seed out over winter and in the spring mom deer that enjoyed the winter buffet returned with 3 babies! Thank you for sharing this!

Opening day of deer season they're all gonna walk right up to anyone with a 12gauge shotgun.

Incorrect, son. The best thing I have learned about my deer is that they do not see me as another "human". They see me as some nice animal to them. If another person comes walking down the road, or tries to come close to my yard, my deer run instantly! This lets me know they will not walk up to just anyone, especially a hunter.

Best video This man have big heart
This is beautiful, I do worry though when wild animals lose their fear of humans, there are so many people who hunt and kill them.

Hi Ann! I am happy you enjoyed this! As far as losing fear of humans, my deer see me as some nice animal to them. They will run if anyone comes walking down the road, or tries to come into my yard. I love this about them, and it lets me know they wont walk up to other people, especially hunters. Have a nice week! :-)))

It doesn't matter. Hunters can kill deer at a 1000 yards whether the deer fear them or not. Just enjoy the interaction.

@@crosbonit Hunters very often entice these animals to an area by encouraging them with food, there is no fair game policy with idiot hunters, who do this because they couldn't catch a cold at 1000 metres, never mind a timid, innocent animal.

@@Dougarrowhead I would be great, I'm vegan I have so many sources of food without the need or wish to kill animals, it is the over farming of animals on this planet which is having dire consequences on the environment. I grow my own sustainably sourced food, you can make your own peanut butter, I do. You can drink fruit and herbal teas, I do. You can with effort live a healthy, happy life without the need to kill. (Or go shopping). You are a misogynist, you say men hunted, women hunt and still do in many societies. Women don't all sit at home eating chocolates and making dinner, we can actually farm and carve out a great life ourselves.
Made my day you can see how much time care and most of all love you have given too these special animals loved it

@@anamericanfriend2367 most Just kill for the thrill. They spend lots of money on hunting gear, guns, ammo, cars, ATV's, gas, hunting licenses instead of buying beef, pork, chicken and fish at market. Thrill for the kill. It's not about putting food on the table as most of them say. Shame. It's kind of a disease. Most hunters laugh and rejoice before the dying creature. And you know what I'm talking about.
