I still think 80s rock is the pinnacle of what rock is. I'm fine with tuning things down to be easier to sing. Pride and other albums from that era are classic and are not dated. Good example: the stuff Robin McAuley has been doing for the past handful of years is hard rock every bit as phenomenal as Perfect Timing. I did pre-order Mike's re-record happily but don't really care for his Springsteen-esque solo material. Getting older doesn't mean you have to turn down the distortion on the guitar IMO.

Super interesting again. I saw him in Spain some years ago, at 12.00 day time performing a acoustic White Lion set in a village. Was super special. Will buy his new cd. I also own a few of his solo albums. Great artist. Thanks for the interview. Cool cuestions.

Thanks for sharing this interview with us. Mike Tramp is amazing artist and white Lion is one of my favourite bands ever. Hope someone could bring him to Toronto Ontario Canadá. And I will always hope to see at least Mike & Vito tour new versions of white Lion songs and even new music..

Mike Tramp is AWESOME!!!! He has some GREAT solo stuff!! He is a great musician in EVERY since of the word!!!! But it cannot be DENIED that White Lion WAS one of THE straight up rock bands of ALL TIME. And Mike was a PART of that thing!!! But his solo stuff is REALLY good too, VERY talented musician and a real pro!!! GREAT MUSICIAN!!

Was a big White Lion fan back in the day. Mike seems to really have his shit together. So refreshing to see an artist who is honest with himself about his legacy then and now instead of being one of those bands that are just embarrassing themselves and they are plenty. Really dig his solo stuff as well.

Vito Bratta is on the Mt Rushmore of Rock Guitartists. Tragic really with no output from him for decades. WL was a great band with a highly underrated catalog.

I'll be attending this tour when it hits the UK later in the year, as I always try to catch MT when he's here. Obviously Vito's absence from the scene continues to propagate the legend of White Lion, and it's a long shadow that Mike will never escape ....... but personally I'd love to see a tour - Mike Tramps Sings the Songs of Freak of Nature.

One thing i dont agree on with Tramp is that those White Lion albums sound dated, the production. In my ears they are not. They sounds fine. Timeless.

Tyler when high as a kite would open with Back in Thr Saddle screaming LUM instead of I'M cause it's was easier to hit hit cause of his non stop touting. Years later, he hits I'm! So cmon Tramp...we dig you. You can do it!

I saw mike in 98 opening for govt. mule then peter frampton and the headliner lynyrd skynyrd ! He was doing a acoustic set ! It was packed! I agree with mike that you can’t go back like you was before! If they did talk about getting back together! White lion could morph into these times still as a classic band ! But a new white lion ! It would be a good conversation ! All we can do is hope !!! Space ace Ron ⚡️⚡️⚡️

Rick Nelson had the same frustration. He played Madison Square Garden supporting a new record and the fans weren't interested in any new music. They kept shouting classic song titles while he tried to play his new stuff.

One more thing , I think the idea of bringing one of your ole jackets onstage is brilliant simply because the 80's fashion was EVERYTHING back in those days. In fact, you would probably still rock your old spandex!!!!!

This makes me laugh because I remember reading in a guitar magazine with Vito Bratta about how Mike asked him about his trunk "Where are all of your clothes?". Vito said "I have guitars ... you have clothes" :D

Ya know how he was saying he can’t sing like he used on those old White Lion songs. Well I’ve noticed a lot of bands when their playing live, their old tunes, I noticed when I saw Ozzy a couple of years back, I video recorded some of the show an when u got home I grabbed my guitar to play along an I noticed Zak & the band musta tuned their instruments down like a whole step. I know Zak tunes his guitar for his own songs down in a low key, but these were old Ozzy tunes like the blizzard of Oz album an up thru the years were either standard tuning or at least flat tuned. But Ozzy wouldn’t have been able to sing the high notes if it wasn’t tuned down a whole step. So why wouldn’t Mike Tramp sing in a lower key? But maybe it’s hard for him sing in a different key too? Either way I at least appreciate his first white lion album.

While Lion will stand the test of time way better than anything he writes or sings now. Watch shows like Cobra Kai and you will see 80's rock is still getting circulated. There are all kinds of newer rock bands like Santa Cruz, Crazy Lixx, Hell In The Club, Wig Wam and many more Why would you think it's outdated. It's not outdated it's a genre. People still listen to it. By far more than they care about what your doing now.

seriously I believe someday very close from today Vito will say eventually Okay I want to Jam! Might not be whitelion And Mike I like his voice better now!! compare his voice in ALL THE FALLEN MEN both versions? ( here in america we only have 2) ALEX Van halen would be a great drummer for VITO ..something like that would kick this music scene where the good lord split it! half Van halen Half Lion meat! what a treat!

Great episode ! It's cool to see Mike doing so well ! Mike makes a lot of sense. I love White Lion. In a lot of ways WL stopping when they did was the best thing that could have happened. I loved their last studio album. All their albums are great without a doubt. Not just Vitto but all the members are amazing players.
