I feel like that scene outside the hotel in San Fran, Stephen was really hoping that Kristin would declare her undying love for him and they’d get back together. And that was the moment she proper broke his heart. And I feel like Kristin was done way before that because there was too much water under the bridge and too much of a sketchy past to heal. But hey, what do I know as I wasn’t there.

No one really talks about how Cedric ramped up the drama between Alex and Casey. Stephen and Kristin were so awkward in SF 😂 Her throwing his sweatshirt back to him was funny… he was like gimme My shit back 😂😂😂

It must be such a strange feeling to be able to go back and watch yourself at your most awkward & confusing phases of life ..i wish i could post pics on here bc i swear i still have my laguna beach and the hills dvds😂- my highschool bf bought me Laguna beach for my bday present at the local record store haha (pre wifi and streaming of course😉)..how crazy that now i can just directly comment to you and never would have that ever be a thought in my mind ..I'm just so amazed at how fast times have changed ..this gives me such good feelings of nostalgia..every episode makes me remember exactly what my friends and i were doing at that same time too so it's so cool..thanks guys ❤🙏

I don't think Lauren and Casey were friends at all, I think that at this time, Lauren was dating Casey's brother Doug for a little while, so that's how they knew each other.

I just watched the best fights of Laguna B after watching your podcast this weekend. You guys were just kids!! I was 30 when I used to watch your spats and late 30s when the Hills came out… I cant believe how interesting it was and now looking back at Jason in High-school is unbelievable!!! Glad Kristen recognized how cruel that rumor was. For a second there I thought she'd be like "Lol! I totally would've said something like that!" Good that they both recognize how mean that was. And how it can set someone off on a dark path. Can take people a while to get over shit like that. Glad they can see that. The SF bit was pretty depressing as a viewer. Nice they can laugh about it now. That's growth.

I love these recaps so much, but I am wondering if anyone else noticed that in this specific episode Stephen is trying really hard to make it seem like he wasn’t butt hurt that Kristin didn’t want more than just friendship. I mean, sure producer influence is always there to get a story, but I wish Stephen would just call a spade a spade here, and admit that he was the needy one here, and the more Kristin pushed him away the more needy he became. I mean, most everyone will be in a similar situation in their lives, whether that be Stephen’s or Kristin’s in this situation, and it’s hard to have yourself look needy and being rejected on camera for everyone to see. But even though there were undoubtedly topics that were producer encouraged, I think it’s pretty clear that Kristin didn’t want him to see her as anything more than just a friend on this little trip she made and he was clinging on to old times when they were more than friends.

Yes he was playing the excuses too much. He reminded me of a typical Highschool boy that as soon as they find out the girl is not that in to them as they are into the girl they act like whatever I was just trying to hookup with you its not like I really liked you. It’s there way to not act embarrassed & feeling like a loser from the rejection. You can tell Kristin was feeling him setting it up some type of way too. She’s like ok I get it I was just the girl everyone wanted to hookup with.

True. But he was also away at college. And he was probably just excited to see anyone from back home. So there was a gray area...which there always is with an ex or anyone else you have a lot of history with.

@@dianamendoza5662 Yes, exactly that. From 18 minutes in until the 19:10 mark, he is really scrambling. He is running sentences together, trying to make excuses of why he came off needy and got rejected. At 32 minutes in, he starts scrambling again and trying hard to make it sound like he was just going for a hook up, when you could clearly see in the whole episode that he was hurt. All the parts where he is not talking about that, his sentences are clear, but the minute he starts talking about how he acted in SF, he is nervously rambling, trying to put it on him giving in to producers and giving them what they wanted. I mean, it sucks for anyone wanting to be with someone and they don’t want the person back. And he is clearly embarrassed that it’s showing on camera, but it would be better to say “yes, although it was being filmed and they did need a story, the truth is, I had feelings and they weren’t reciprocated, and it hurt”. No one would judge him for that, it happens. This approach just makes you look immature and that you’re trying to be the cool guy in high school with the non-sensical rambling.

How he hadnt yet moved on like Kristen had. I dont know what more you want from him. he is not rambling at all thats in your delusional minds. He couldnt be more mature & explanatory about how he felt. He even commends Kristen for being way more mature handling it than he was. You dont seem to grasp that these were just kids & the whole notion of being seriously in love is not a reality. Its just more about habitual behaviour & how theyre used to interacting. Its also a TV show & they were aware enough to play up their emotions at times for the cameras.

He has honestly been rambling for a few episodes now. I love Kristin and her level of introspection but with each episode I wonder more and more how Stephen was ever a heartthrob. I watched Whitney and Timmy’s reaction videos and they were so good because this drama doesn’t effect them one bit so they could be somewhat impartial. Stephen glides over his responsibility but is quick to call out others. Whoever the editor is, can you please edit out Stephen’s rambling? 😂

I think the Hills was pretty real Season 1-3. It started super fake after Lauren left, It went downhill from there..

Can you please do season 3? I just don't want it to be over. Jessica does date Cameron on Season 3 and both Alex's make an appearance. Just bring on the season 3 cast to help fill in the blanks.
