And well for this past year GMMTV has been killing of moms (Never Let Me Go and Moonlight Chicken), so it's seems about right to go after the dads now. About the debates, I agree they haven't really done much with them, even though the whole series is build up around the contest (like Hot Wave in My School President). But that is the main problem with this show, I really don't think they creators has spend much time making the story board make sense, because all of the plot point are so randomly put into the story and solved just a random. However, I disagree that it isn't easy to argue for the negative on "succes is the fruit of hard work" - there's so much to be said about time, chance and opportunity, about status and class differences, about how kids from privilleged families are more likely to succed, about how we value people with higher education vs people doing labour work differently as far as pay/money goes. Actually this whole show is about Zo working hard to achieve the goal of winning the competion, to go to Finland and make his mom proud - that's the fruit for him. And he even said to Joke after the debate "I tried my best" and yet he failed to do what he set out to do. So I think there was a lot of meta layers to that debate topic.. But once again the poor writing didn't do it justice! It reminded me of the discussion between Gun and Yok in MSP after they lost the Hot Wave the first time. Everyone kept saying "it's okey, because you did your best", and Yok really takes offence to that, because essentially that means that their best isn't good enough. And once Gun loses to, he finally gets how hurtful that sentence sound, despite the fact that it's ment as encouragement. Also, everyone seems to agree that we avoided the penultium curse - and then there's me thinking about my mom dying from sepsis two years ago...
