    One thing that was always intriguing to me is why the natives of Florida didn't go out and settle islands in the Caribbean, but there's a lot of evidence that pre-colonial South Florida was deeply connected culturally and materially with Caribbean polities and people whereas North Florida was more similar to its Mississippian neighbors in the Southeast. It would be quite interesting if there was evidence of Muskogean languages being spoken in Cuba, but I doubt something like that would ever preserve in the historical record

    What is meant by the term 'slash and burn' agriculture?

  • @catmelon736

    @catmelon736

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'm not to sure, I'm just regurgitating what I remember it's with agriculture it was used with the indigenous people they'll plant stuff reap it and clear the field the slash terms and the burn term is literally burning the field they believed burning the field would fertilize it, it is also used on the sugar cane plantation they'll grow the cane, clear the old stocks and burn the field and re-plant the cane... They would do this until the field is no longer fertilized and move on to another spot the indigenous did this I'm not sure of the enslaved did this with the cane

    My grandfather is Trinidadian Carib and my DNA results showed that my ancestors come from Kenya, Mesoamerica and the Andes! Oh boy, it's been a journey learning about the movement of the Indigenous people and how they got to the Caribbean Islands, and then somehow they got all mixed up and made me. So fascinating. Thanks for your work on this topic.

    DNA are you immigrants really this stupid? Ancestry genealogy DNA is not accepted in state-federal nor international Courts to prove bloodline lineage and it will not help you to get admitted into any tribal Nations on the planet. It clearly tells you dummies in the fine print that it is for entertainment purposes only. Facts

    GREETINGS and SHALUM FROM THE MOST HIGH! This is how the original people of the Americas came, henceforth why they are the original people here (Taino-Arawak, Kalinago, etc); the REMNANT of YASHARAL (Israel) that was scattered to the FOUR CORNERS WILL BE BROUGHT BACK with fire, signs and great wonders that no nation or culture have ever seen!!! I implore all indigenous of the world to mark this hour and read carefully ad repeatedly the passage below; This is what Columbus was reading why they came looking for the lost tribes, which were not lost, or is not lost, but hidden! It is a great fear for the wicked to see the return of the heavenly powers return with fire ad indignation upon the unjust ways of mankind! Peace and Love! Taken from 2 Edras Chap 13: the visions of the prophet 39 And whereas thou sawest that he gathered another peaceable multitude unto him; 40 Those are the ten tribes, which were carried away prisoners out of their own land in the time of Osea the king, whom Salmanasar the king of Assyria led away captive, and he carried them over the waters, and so came they into another land. 41 But they took this counsel among themselves, that they would leave the multitude of the heathen, and go forth into a further country, where never mankind dwelt, 42 That they might there keep their statutes, which they never kept in their own land. 43 And they entered into Euphrates by the narrow places of the river. 44 For the most High then shewed signs for them, and held still the flood, till they were passed over. 45 For through that country there was a great way to go, namely, of a year and a half: and the same region is called Arsareth. 46 Then dwelt they there until the latter time; and now when they shall begin to come, 47 The Highest shall stay the springs of the stream again, that they may go through: therefore sawest thou the multitude with peace. 48 But those that be left behind of thy people are they that are found within my borders. 49 Now when he destroyeth the multitude of the nations that are gathered together, he shall defend his people that remain. 50 And then shall he shew them great wonders.
