I've watched a lot of reviews of this guitar as i'm wanting to get one and this is probably the best one so far. I really appreciate the disclosure of what Enya said as its impossible to find a review that isn't sponsored so you never really know. This is the only review that shows the usb input into PC. I didn't know that was a feature and is relevant to me, so that's great. Thanks

Had mine for a couple of weeks and it’s great! Came in perfect intonation and since I’ve initially tuned it, it’s still in tune. Neck is perfect. And by using the app, I’ve customized the sounds and it really sounds great.

Thanks for the thorough review! You covered things that no other reviewer thus far has covered. I just ordered one. Think it's great for jamming on the deck or around a campfire and you don't have to worry about heat, humidity, etc. due to the carbon fiber composite.

Great review. Thank you. I received my Nova Sonic 3 weeks ago, and it is fun to play. Thanks for getting into the details. I was not aware of the "pull down" functionality of the darkened pedals on the app, nor of the ability plug directly onto my laptop to record. The information that comes with the guitar ( and online) could use a tad bit of more detail. But, Enya really spent a lot of time incorporating functional features such as the truss rod adjustment at the neck instead of at the headstock, zero fret, and a nice bridge.... all for $350-400. Fully charged, it lasts for hours! I did have to lower the action a tad. I have been playing with the tones attempting to duplicate an acoustic guitar, I can't quite get there yet. We could use an Enya Sonic User Group.

I really enjoyed your video. I bought this guitar about three weeks ago and I love it. Watching your video showed me more things I can do with it then I had anticipated! Like hooking it up to the Bluetooth to play a backing track. I wasn’t sure exactly how to do it cause the instructions well there,,really isn’t any!! I really enjoy this and it’s comfortable. I have no problem with dead strings. I am going to put some new strings on it pretty soon cause I want some Ernie balls on it but the strings that are on it right now that came with it are good for now! you’ve got the better review out of all of ive seen so far! have a good day, sir 😊

Also, I think with the app I think if if they would allow you to click on each individual amp or pedal knob and use maybe the knob on the guitar to turn up and down the settings for the app I think that would be perfect.

Great review! Really helpful. I’m a keyboard player/rhythm guitar player and I’ve been looking for a plug and play, low maintenance, built in effects, quick setup guitar that plugs in direct with my keys. This looks perfect! I wonder if there’s a way to switch tones/effects with a bluetooth foot switch? I’ll bet there’s something in the app settings for external bluetooth foot switch. Either way, I’m getting one. I might even sell off one or two of my guitars.

I have another guitar with USB-C which is normally recognised by GarageBand on my Mac but not on my iOS devices and I'd love to use the Nova Go Sonic for an iPad based live rig without having to use like an iRig or something like that.

Enjoyed the video. The application section was of great help, but I agree it needs some adjustments. My biggest gripe with the app was that it insists on landscape orientation, the opposite of my Katana app, both of which I run from a tablet. When I first got mine a few days ago, I downloaded and launched the application right away and started playing with the tones and settings. In hindsight, I wish I had stopped playing with the software and the onboard features, as soon as I confirmed that they functioned correctly. I Got it backwards. Your point about having all the electronic features meaning nothing if the guitar itself is poorly made, made me think, "Yes! Exactly! And every other electric I've brought home needs to be set up first. Everything is going to sound better, if the guitar action is set to your personal preference and you feel better playing it. I've read alot of people state that their guitar arrived perfectly setup and intonated. Mine wasn't bad, but the action was far too high. I had to lower the bridge to the lowest point and make a minor truss rod adjustment, but now I have the action set nicely. The intonation, while not off too much, did benefit from tweaking using my best cheap tuner. NOW I'm ready to set up some usable tones for the times when I just don't feel like plugging in, or some late nights on the deck. For the most part, I'll be plugging this into an amp and played in rotation with the others, I'm 62 and I like the comfort and low weight of this guitar as well. It's slightly lighter than my semi-hollow body E-335 wannabe. The 355 has P-90s and my Epiphone LP is like strapping on a baby grand piano compared to the Sonic. I am floored by the value of the Sonic. If you stripped out the speaker and the smart functions, the instrument would be still worth the MSRP. Compound radius neck w/ easy higher fret access. Nice frets (though I definately want to polish them on first string change.) I can already hear the purists shooting down this "plastic guirar" , and whining (perhaps justified here) about the lack of a Tone pot for the pickups. I myself appreciate the minimalistic guitar top. I also like the pull switch changes bridge pickup from series to parallel rather than coil split. I'm from Canada, and I can see that the price is inching up on Amazon already.

I hope at some point they make a version of this without all the built in electronics, just two humbuckers and thats it. I think it would be a cool cheap durable gigging guitar especially if you play a lot of outdoor gigs in humid places like near the beach in Florida. They could knock a little off the price and maybe offer a few more colors and call it the gig edition or something.

What I can't get a clear answer to, is does the button that switches presets always have to switch between clean, overdrive, dist, and high gain? Or can it cycle through 4 different clean sounds? Can I save it to where i push the button and it's dry clean, push it again it's clean with slapback delay, 3rd press and it's clean with reverb and trem, etc?

Thank you for a very complete review! My only complaint, other than the app needs work, is that when I set it for a more bass/warmer tone, and turn it up, I get a lot of speaker vibrations. Sounds flubby. I reported this to Enya, thinking I might have a bad speaker, and they responded that they are aware of this and working on a fix. Either an algorithm or a better speaker. Not sure what that means?:) Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance!

  • @TheTapeFarm

    @TheTapeFarm

    2 ай бұрын

The bass response seemed reasonable to me. It can get flubby with a lot bass being pushed through it. But I would think that would expected because it’s a 3 or 4 inch speaker inside a guitar, not a 12 inch speaker in a cabinet. But if they are looking into a solution… cool.

I love this guitar, but the deal breaker for me is that you can only toggle the 4 sounds in a, say, clock-wise direction. You can't go from clean to dirty then back to clean without having to go via the other 2 sounds I don't want.

Yes, I did, not to sound like a wise guy, but I turned the volume down.😜. I have heard it’s a problem that they are aware of. I’m not sure if there’s something they’re gonna be able to do in software or not. I think it’s just the nature of a hollow bodied instrument with a speaker inside of it.

  • @eidodk

@@toddbriley7197 There's always going to be feedback. The humbucker pickups are just that - pickups. They'll pickup sound from the room regardless of where it comes from. It's not a microphone in the sense that you can sing into them and expect the sound to come out as clear song. Feedback happens even on large stage productions, and it is ALWAYS due to volume being pushed too hard. People who tell you that there's two volume knobs on the guitar are wrong.. The "volume" on the effects button is the effects volume, and the "real" volume is the gain control. If you get feedback, lower gain. It's the absolute only way to remedy it.

I had the same issue. You need to establish 2 Bluetooth connections. The app see the guitar immediately and this connection is for changing presets, but if you want to stream music to play along you also need to connect via your bluetooth options just like you would connect to a speaker. Your phone will not see the guitar as a bluetooth speaker unless, while you search for devices to connect to, you double click the big knob on the guitar. When you double click the phone will see it

Ok, so it’s carbon fiber which means it’s durable. But how durable is it? I guess you can’t expect it to survive if you mistakenly run your car over it. But what if your 130 lb. kid, grandkid or dog comes down hard on it? You know, similar to it being mishandled at the airport. I get that it’s being pushed as an all purpose guitar but I would think that most traveling musicians would use it as a practice guitar so it could endure some hard travel. Extreme heat or cold, humid or arid climate, et al. Just curioushow hard is this stuff tested?

Well I took a trip with it (clips in the beginning). Just put it in the gig bag and threw it in the trunk of the car. Drive through rain, temp changes, etc, etc. took it out and it was still in tune. What will happen if the unforeseen happens? No way to foresee that.
