My son in law was sailing in his Catamaran far at sea and played Enya songs on his music system, a group of dolphins came to listen and accompanied the boat for quite some time enjoying the music. It really does have universal appeal.

December 25 2023 - I walked alone this chilly morning in the forested trail beside my house. As I walked I reflected on the passing of my wife and best friend who was taken from ovarian cancer in October 2013. Walking out of the hospital that rainy morning with only her belongs to my car at 5am was one of the most difficult things I had ever done. I never knew many people in my entire life that I felt as close to as her. Coming home to a dark, cold house without her to brighten everything was a time of utter dispair as I walked a fine line between wanting to live and wanting to join her. To my sweetheart, listening to this song as I think of all the memories that only I carry forward - may you await my return when my time comes that I may look into your eyes and truly smile once again.

Enya sings of Heaven - the Home of not this world - the home back with our maker. It's more about being with him, than being in a place. Like when you feel your parents love as a kid, visiting the places where you lived then brings the memories. But it's still not the place, it was the love of your mother, and father. That is, in case you had such loving parents. Those of you who didn't have - God is that mother and father you were bereft of as a kid. And though he's fully that, that's not all of him, there's more. I don't even know all of it yet. Just I know there's more. Heaven calls us to that party, to find that more, and more, and... ... Enya sings of the life which the Bible tells us. She has made the Irish Gaelic version of Our Father, the famous Christian prayer. Just she sings mostly of the moods, emotions Bible awakes - her talent is such she can sing about them even in invented languages :)

I know about loss. I lost my wife. Been with here since 1965 when she was 14. I am lost also at 76. It doesn’t get better, we never realize how much they mention until they are gone. How fortunate I was to have her in my life. This is what means something

I am truly sorry for your ENDLESS pain of loss! I also lost my BEAUTIFUL wife, 30 years ago, and the daily agony of her loss from me NEVER SUBSIDES! Tears every single day since her passing, and I am now 82 years old. I search for no other in my life, ever since breast cancer took her from me. because there IS NO OTHER that could ever replace the MAGNIFICENT PERSON that she truly was! May the brilliant light from God ever shine upon her! Amen!

I think you knew how meaning she was for you. You lived togheter for such a long time; perhaps, like most of us, you were not able to tell her how important she was for you, but I guess, you both had many good reasons for being a couple. I lost my love two years ago, when I was 60 and I know that pain, which has many faces. But you got the luck, of having her besides you, for many years; too many ones spend their lives in loneliness. Remember all the good times you spent togheter; for me, every smile, every glance, every tear, every laugh, every hug, every kiss, since the first, are like tattoes on my brain. And I imagine she's still here by me. Good luck, stranger.

When I was working on a Masters degree, there was a wizened old professor who was notoriously difficult in his grading (and personality-wise, just wasn't very warm or friendly). We usually showed up in the lecture hall early because of a gap in the schedule, and we were playing some study songs on KZread while we worked and talked. Our prof walks in, hears the music, and asks if any of us like Enya. He pulled up this song and his face just absolutely lit up while we all sat back to enjoy the music and admire the beautiful snow. It was really sweet to see. I stayed in touch with him after graduation and he became a bit of a mentor to me. I wouldn't have approached him if I'd thought he was as standoffish as I'd previously believed him to be - but thanks to this song, I knew he had a soft side! Music has an incredible way of bridging gaps with people we might not otherwise connect with.

Before she went solo, she sang with her former group started by her family members--her sister and her two twin uncles. Their group is still together now 20 years or more, it's called Clannad. Her sister's voice is also amazing, but not the same. Recommend their music if you like Enya.

Hi

Every night I sit by my daughter’s bed and tell her the story of the elves in the trees while I play this music- what she affectionately refers to as “elf music”. She slips off to a dreamworld of princesses with dresses of silver and palace guards watching over the kingdom as she sleeps. I’ve been doing this every night since she was 3; she’s 5 now and it’s the highlight of our nightly daddy- daughter time. Thank you for posting this.

Whoever captured this beautiful winter scene driving has my thanks for this wonderful escape.

I will never forget this song during a massive snow storm i pulled my x wife on a sled to anp supermarket it was over a mile snow ice burning my face the only thing that made me keep going was mush jimmy mush ! I love you jimmy

I am darkness in light form. It's 2 44am which is a normal being up time for me... I became the shadows a long time ago. My eyes change in the light from green to blue and need to adjust to daylight, they are already nocturnally adjusted for the dark. I used to be afraid of the dark as a child. Now I've walked hell on earth i embrace it.

It's actually a love song in Sindarin, a language from LotR

I can’t find any faery sounding music artists like Enya. First time I heard her, I already fell in love. She sounds so hauntingly out of this world, no one sounds like her. It’s so amazing how she recorded her songs and some of them are way back in 80s and 90s.

Enya's voice has an ethereal quality which can reach inside you, massage your soul and nurture your heart. Truly the sound of an angel.

Loreena McKennitt is also a good artist. Most people who like Enya's music should appreciate Loreena's, yet they aren't quite similar. They both have a mystical aspect to their music, which is what would be similar I guess.

This song melts my heart. It has to be one of my favourites in the world...Along with a few other LotR pieces. Anybody who worked on music for these films has my utmost respect. I've never come across so beautiful a soundtrack, in any other movie.

ENYA and her music are a rare blessing in this troubled World!

This may very well be close to what Tolkien described as the song of Eru, Ilúvatar when he taught the Ainur the theme from which he would make his great music. It is enchanting to say the least. I oft forget how much care and detail they put into this movie in every aspect. This brings it back.

Tsemnar D Lloyd Twas a shame of unyielding sadness that The Hobbit Trilogy was a crappy, over-hyped and recycled piece of work in comparison with Peter Jackson's masterpiece. The LotR mythos deserves a new director for "The Silmarillion", "Children of Hurin" and what else they will think to profit upon. Shame on you Mr. Jackson, thou art corrupted by the Dark Lord of $$$! Long live Howard Shore, the only constant creative force that didn't disappoint..

I agree. Way too much intense action for what was originally a children's story book! I can handle Azog the corrupted as being the big bad general of the Orc army, but when you have Elves defying the laws of physics and running up falling rocks in mid-air, there comes a point where suspension of belief is strained to breaking point. The Original LOTR trilogy had an eerily realistic atmosphere to it that made it feel as if it had actually happened some time in history. The overblown CGI effects in the Hobbit killed that sense of reality.

When I hear Enya I think of my late cousin Debbie. She loved to hear Enya sing. We would ride the highways in her convertible listening and enjoying each other's company. Those were sweet days gone but, not forgotten. ❤️

My 18 month-old granddaughter is fascinated by this video.
