Envelope Books DIY Easy!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this tutorial you will learn how to make Easy DIY ENVELOPE BOOKS two ways! Organize anything from stickers to documents, journal ephemera, photographs, memories, bills to pay, receipts and more!!
You can make any size from small to large and you can use side opening or top opening envelopes. I will also teach you how you can have your books open all the way, or have the construction stay in book form. Either way you make them, your envelope books will lay flat when opened, which is a huge bonus. Enjoy!

These would make amazing travel journals! You could have 1 envelope per day and then have a few pieces of paper inside to write about your day. Then just stuff in any ephemera like receipts, tickets, keepsakes, etc. And when you get home you could glue your trip photos to the front of the envelopes that match what's inside. ❤ Seems more straightforward than trying to actually junk journal while away from home :)

Fabulous concept ❤. And all the different uses for such journals is endless. As for the "damaged" papers, you could dampen them with water then iron them to soften the folds and use them for collage papers. Perhaps you could also dampen the papers and scrunch them up a few times so the paper is an overall textured paper which I know I have seen you use so many times. I have no fears that you will have any difficulty finding a use for your "damaged" papers. Great video with great advice on the use of the scoreboard.😊❤😊

I love these books.❤ I have lots of envelopes and this is a beautiful way to use them. I do use my scoreboard to make harmonica folds and they turn out pretty great. I learned that the score line you make should always be a mountain fold, not a valley fold. So I would score every inch and then flip the paper and score every half inch. Thanks for sharing all your wonderful ideas. Best, Mirande

Thank you for explaining why the scoreboard technique is NOT just scoring all at once!!! I always thought it was something I was doing, like not scoring in the right groove, etc…, I quit making books that required an accordion! Now I can play with it again, not getting frustrated! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

Thank you, Natasa. When I first learned how to make envelope books, my instructor had all the pieces in a kit ready for us to assemble as we followed along with her instructions and guidance. At that time (about 25 years ago) we didn't have the creasing board with all the grooves in it for creasing mountain and valley folds... we folded each crease with straight edge metal rulers and bone folders. It was a wonderful experience taught by a master bookbinder. Watching your vid as you explained so well all the details - as you always do - took me back to that first experience of mine. Thank you for the trip back, dear Master Natasa. Your work is beautiful, professional, and inspiring. 💐🙏🏽

I've been racking my brain to come up with things like this to put in a journal for my sister. Except, she doesn't want writing space but rather pockets and such , just to put stuff in. This is perfect! Thank you for yet another brilliant idea.

8:48 so I would try scoring every inch on one side, and in between (plus the end one) on the other side. (Flip the paper over to crease in between the first creases.) The reason is that when you use the stylus to crease paper in the score board, the creases should be folded from the indent side outward. (Valleys become mountains) my mother has a degree in graphic design and taught me this when I was young because what happens to the paper fibers when smashing them, is that the valley side of the crease has been stretched more than the backside, and will fold more accurately. Your method is a great alternative. ❤

I absolutely love those for my office organisation and all kinds of projects. Since I was young (a thousand years ago), I admired paper shop windows and all the lovely journals and office stuff. Now, it can be so easily achieved due to your inspiring videos. That just makes me so happy and content, since journaling means so much to me. And alone to hold those beautiful creations in my hand or/ and to work in/ with them. I love all of those but love the Sound and view when they spread ❤. By the way, I have an idea for you (only If you like of course) and I am quiet sure, If anybody could work something fabulous out, than you: Pop up books/ cards/ ephemera with all kind of interactive popping up and fun stuff. I would love to dive into childhood dreams...

Wow! What great instructions!! I have seen people use the corner of something (like a scoreboard or a kitchen cabinet top where it meets the wall, if it is a 90 degree angle) and push the paper edges up to that when making the folds, of course the correct angle is so important and it has to be tall enough for all of your folds…you’re right, difficult to explain! Love the option of a pull out book or a non-pull-out book! I personally would want to see inside the pockets and might put acetate into the envelope front to achieve that. Wonderful project!! Love to combine pockets with single pages too…why do I complicate things? 💕💕💕

Hello from Germany, thanks for this new idea, it's great. After watching your video I made one, so easy, due to your perfect tutorial. For the acordeón I used paper 120 g, and folded it manually. Perfect result😊 for the cover any a bit sturdier paper will do, since you cover it with 2 sheets of decorative paper it will be sturdy enough. I recommend using envelopes made of thicker paper. I only had the German thin paper envelopes, so I glued stamperia scraps onto the flaps, being larger in hight, the width of course same as flap, just cut off the excess. So you can decorate the flap, too. I also added pockets, resp. Created flaps for envelopes I had cut open on the side, since I had only those with flaps on top. Thanks to all your great tutorials I always find a way to use what I have and to adjust. And the ribbon spine is nice, more sturdy, looks so nice. I love the way you explain all, easy to follow, and it really didn't take long to make this nice booklet. And then you can freak out with decorating the pages with stickers, flowers, that's so much fun! Take care, hugs from Marika, Germany.

These loook marvelous, Natasa! I have a ton of business envelopes to use up, so I will try this project out. When you were choosing a book plate for the one you made today, I said "no" out loud to the cork one! Glad you picked a better option. I'm also quite grateful for the improved methods you showed for making perfect accordian folds. Thank you so much!

Miss Natasa, they all look fantastic. My talent is very low on creating. I have tried doing the last video and mine is a failure. So, I put it aside, hoping to try again. This project, you make it look so easy, but you're a perfectionist. I will try and give it a go by using small envelopes before large ones. I liked them all, each one is unique. Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your family. 🥰🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💖💖💖💖💖👍👍👍👍👍(🌹🐞🦂🌵)

What an absolutely awesome project. Thank you so much for enduring the frustration of getting the folds to line up. I’ve used my scoring board plenty and always wonder why scoring multiple lines in a row always results in something crooked. You are an amazing paper engineer, but you also have such a knack for combining materials that make projects instantly identifiable as a Treasure Books work of art. I can see myself making these for my kids’ teachers to give them something that’s gorgeous and handmade, but also very practical. Thank you for yet another wonderful tutorial!

Wonderfully explained, thank you for all the important tips and tricks. This accordion album idea is perfect for me; I scrapbook the page first, then place in the album. For longer 'stories' I could insert a 4-page signature in one or two folds. And I would use the ribbon method to hold it all together, but not until all pages were ready to go into the album so that the tension would be perfect for its bulk.
