you have taken attributes for the relationship only if cardinality is n:m . those attributes were same as the attributes for the entities participating in the relationship. so this is a thumb rule that: if a cardinality of a relation is N:M, then you need to give the attributes which are the attributes of the entities.

including an entity for the company itself is a mistake because you are designing the database for that company

In the description says that ONE supplier can supply many books, so it should be a 1 instead of the N, isn't it?

No, many suppliers have the choice of selling many books, that line mean that at a moment of time only one supplier can sell one book.

I think there should be a relationship between editor and the subject since "The company employs editors who, not necessarily being specialists in a particular area", and those areas can mean what other than subjects?

“Traditions” covers weddings functions, birthday parties and corporate meetings. Customers have to get registered before placing order. Customer has to select the desired venue according to the category of function. Customer can select only a single venue for a function. Company is also offering other services like catering, stage decoration etc., for the events. Customers select the menu and catering while placing order. Menu has many food items plz make er diagram with this solution.

1 Book in particular can have only 1 Subject Either Physics Or Chemistry but each Subject can have many books available in market.!

N also means many ie the relation between books and auther is many to many. So for one entity it is n and other entity it is M

Ajay Pareek The store owner is indeed connected to the publisher, I will try to explain this with an example. Say you want to see what books a store has, and display the publishers of the books they own: you would use an inner join statement with the 'books', 'publisher', and 'shop owner' tables by using the book's primary id which would also be a foreign key in the other two tables. By doing that, it should show a single table where it displays all of the table's columns that you have selected The query could look something like this: select books.book_id, books.book_name, publisher.publisher_name from books join publisher on books.book_id = publisher.book_id join store_owner on books.book_id = store_owner.book_id I could have missed something, as I am refreshing my knowledge on systems design... The idea's there though, I hope this helps you and others understand how this works into actually querying it :)

Can a book have more than one publication? Because it's kinda confusing, in the text we have book, book publication and publication and they all sound like separate entities to me. Especially book publication sounds like a weak entity connected to book and editor. Also can we put "Item" as a multi-valued attribute between Books and Supplier instead of it being an entity? If you could answer I'll be very grateful since I have an exam next week and the professors are still on a holiday ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
