Technically you could have filed a complaint against an unknown person and then the surveillance camera could have looked at you and the man would have been there for sure and besides, depending on how we paid for this card, they would have had further information because I think the man attacked you

Police are allowed to lie to you, especially if they "believe" it will calm you down. If you are still within the statue of limitations, you should demand a copy of the police report. And file a complaint at the station. If the report has his name take him to small claims court for the property damages, and have your friend press charges for the assult. This will likely start and internal investigation. Because of the nature of this incident, there is no way the officers did not get his information. The only way they might get away with that is if they knew him. And even then it would show up in the report. If for some reason they got through all of that and did not get his information then the officers would get in at least some troubble for this when you file your complaint. Something else to note, you could have beat him up, legally. You would likely have not ended up in jail. First he assulted you first, and he stole and damaged your property. Even if he tried to claim it was self defense. You have a theater of witnesses, and you have "fighting words doctrine" which basically states that he approached you in an aggressive manor.

@@eponack I am guessing the 11-13 y/o kid is lying about the whole thing. I bet the kid was being told to be quiet, he is a brat (kind of mentioned it in the beginning), threw his new phone (entitled), then made up a story. If a child has two slap marks on their face even a US Senator would be investigated. Unless this was in a different country than the US. If so, then yea, probably. European, Russian, Asian, African, South American, Mexican, and everyone else (except Canada, maybe?) would've applauded the older man who tried to quiet the obnoxious kids. That was a very one sided story with a lot of holes. There is no way a partial theater crowd, anywhere, especially in small town or large city, would let that guy walk away without trying to be involved. That doesn't exist. How many hours have you spent on a road because people want to "cruise by" the accident. Sounds like a brat trying to get sympathy... I used to be one.

Compared to you or the OP, the government has limitless resources, time, and manpower to devote to stalling you until you run out of resources to fight them. Since the officers did not follow proper police procedures you should have called any police pct and they would have told you what pct the theater is in. Then you would have to go to that pct and press a complaint against the officers for not following proper procedures by not cuffing the man right away. Internal affairs would get their names from the call to the movie theater. Get a lawyer and sue the officers for damages to your phone and psychological suffering for letting go of the suspect and lawyer fees.

Wow! Theater dude would probably murder me. I’ve always found horror movies to be hilarious! My mom did, too. I was 5 when I first watched The Exorcist. It was still pretty new and the “scariest movie ever made.” My mom knew what I could handle. So, so sat down and watched it with me, in case I got scared or if I had any questions. I didn’t have any questions and I certainly didn’t get scared. I couldn’t understand how it wasn’t a comedy. It was the funniest movie I’d ever seen. I laughed so hard I had tears running down legs and a stitch in my side. My dad walked into the room to see how the viewing was going. My mom told him, “We’re in trouble. Apparently she inherited my sense of humor.” Dad just said, “Well, crap.” Right on queue I busted a gut again. I love horror movies and in my old age I’ve learned to love Asian Gore and torture porn. It’s all good. Except for The Human Centipede. That crap wasn’t even funny. Just nasty.

All that over a punk ass movie ticket smh. Honestly if that was me and a friend of mine at that age, that guy would've got jumped. It's one thing to get upset with someone and let them know that they're being obnoxious and disruptive and it's another to feel like you have the right to then put your hands on them and destroy their property over it. OP should've honestly just let their friend hit the guy back since it was self-defense and they had plenty of witnesses that saw the initial harassment and assault. It's one thing to let verbal disrespect slide but you should never let someone else put their hands on you without responding in kind unless you're dangerously outnumbered or outmatched, which at that point you're basically in your legal rights to use deadly force 🔫 if they won't let you leave and you fear that they're going to kill you or cause you great bodily harm.

Oh HELL no…I would first gotten witness statements from everyone in that theatre. Then I would have gone to the police station and filed a report about the negligent cops and to press charges anyway to look at security footage and find SOMETHING. And if they didn’t? I’d go to the news stations and share the entire story. NO WAY would I let that bastard get away with that!

I would also have sued the principal for assaulting my child because if the whistle was hanging around their neck and they never took it off then the principal had to have grabbed it by force which is assault even if it's something the child should not have. If it were something they shouldn't have the principal should ask for it and if the kid refuses call the parents first and go from there. The kid has no obligation to give anything to the principal just because the principal thought it may be a distraction. He should instead ask about the whistle and when he learns that it's sentimental and doesn't even work he should then leave the kid be.

*I remember when me & my girlfriend went to see Endgame, the theatre was packed & whilst it was a good movie, EVERYTIME Captain Marvel came on-screen the boos reigned down from teenagers, men & women alike, except 1 simp of a guy telling everyone to hush, when it got close to the climactic scene Marysue made her entrance & the boos again even louder at how cheesy it was this guy got up & stormed out of the theatre & he basically missed the end of the film, we were walking out & he was screaming at the poor cashier & was legit near tears about how people were reacting to a fictional character who is now INFAMOUSLY disliked due to the actress playing her. Pathetic*

The principal even put me in iss for something I didn't even do, and when I showed the proof that I didn't do it, she didn't care.

It doesn't matter who it is, or what the situation is, you have every right to hit somebody back when they hit you. Anybody who disagrees can miss me all the way with any argument to the contrary. Anybody getting hit and not hitting back is not natural. We're hardwired to defend ourselves danger and it's in our nature to do so. For anybody to do the opposite is not normal at all.
