This is a perfect setup for my space (a desk, in spare bedroom, with limited space). The video is fantastic and super easy to follow. I actually purchased all of the pieces (from the affiliate links) and am in the process of setting everything up. I’m just waiting for the stepper but to arrive, so I can modify the arm and the versa plate, per your recommendation.

Caleb just wanted to give you a major shout out about this! I'm a High School teacher by day, film maker by night and am preparing to teach all online. I watched this when you posted it originally and remembered it when school turned all digital. Thanks for your great ideas!

Best setup!! Cheap and amazing efficient. Especially when you move the camera, or even the light. You can just stay in your chair whithout getting around the desk to move a light dolly or a camera tripod. It's ergonomic, time-saver, cheap...and looks fabulous on your desk. One of the best setups out here. Detailed and friendly explained throughout the vid. Thank you for sharing!! Thumbs up!

I like how you have a simple realistic background scene yet everything still looks clean AF. No hipster pinewood paneled walls embedded with LED strips complete with man cave bar and stripper pole required to look legit. Great beginner to realistically pro setup. If you're content is on point this setup will get you anywhere you want to go. Thanks.

FWIW tripod 'screws' are just 1/4in or 3/8in bolts with a UNC-20 thread, very common and super-cheap. The closest metric equiv is a M6 bolt but the thread pitch is wrong.

I bookmarked this a while ago, and I've been meaning to do this. Finally pulled the trigger and honestly it's the best thing I've ever done for my setup. I didn't do it exactly like this. I had an existing light setup that I am happy with. I used the monitor pole and 3 arms to mount my 2 monitors and DSLR. SO MUCH BETTER. I had 2 Ergotron monitor mounts and 1 Elgato poll mount for my DSLR. I have much more flexibility in monitor and camera placement than I did before. DSLR is much closer and eye level, and it doesn't take up desk space because I mounted it high enough to fit stuff under it. Now I just need a dialog pencil mic to replace my dynamic to get my microphone out of frame.

Love this idea of the arm with then the mic boom attached to it. I have a massive desk and it seemed no matter where I clamped it to the desk it was too far away. I thinking I'll go with the arms for audio and video, but I'll likely get two standing lights because I want something balanced from both sides. I think this will step up my setup by a mile + definitely going to look at getting a dedicated DSLR for the video creation, something that can record in 4k. And will love having it on an arm behind my monitors. I also love that your links are to not so expensive equipment. All the other videos I see are to super expensive equipment. You should definitely see some affiliate $$$ coming your way!

This is amazing! Definitely interested, although I have a pretty huge monitor setup, I`m thinking how would I go about that. Still trying to figure out the ideal monitor setup, In my latest video you can see my setup in the background if you`d care to give me your thoughts. Great video!

This was awesome!! Thank you so much for posting this! I actually have my monitors already connected to two of these arms on each side of my desk so I can just buy the extra arms and side them above or below the current arm and I have an extra post laying around as well!! I love the camera and mic idea!! Right now I have the a5100 mounted to the back of my monitor using go pro attachments and adapters, but I love the idea of being able to move it around with the arm and up and down with that tripod pole!! I think I’ll be adding your ideas into my setup within the next few weeks!!!
