An updated version of this video is now available! kzread.info/dash/bejne/q56cls5-p9K0Yqg.html It adds Quantumania, Guardians 3, and Secret Invasion + Incorporates the corrections below (and many others tweaks) CORRECTIONS (To be implemented when/if I do any updated version): - Captain America: Winter Solider + Civil War- Sharon Carter is NOT Peggy's daughter. She is Peggy's grandniece (also known as greatniece) - Avengers: Endgame - When Rogers and Stark went to 1970, they were after the SPACE stone, not the POWER stone - Pronunciation of Romanoff and M'Baku - At the start of the "Wakanda is Formed" chapter, it should be "*millions of years later", 'billions of years later" --- Wow! Can’t believe this video is finally out. It’s something I’ve thought about making ever since I released that Spider-Man Recap way back before No Way Home (kzread.info/dash/bejne/oIWAmptvg7m8cdI.html). After that video, I thought about my next big recap. Some suggested the MCU and it felt like a natural next step but I also knew it would be a huge project. So, it had to go on the backburner thanks to some other OneTake priorities (like Better Call Saul’s final season! And wow… Still can’t believe that show is over). Anyway, after my Halloween project, I finally decided to focus on the big MCU Recap. I got especially excited for it when I had the idea to do it in chronological order, rather than just a straightforward recap. I’m a big fan of puzzling things out / seeing how they fit together (if you couldn’t figure that out from my Dark or Raised by Wolves content haha) so I knew it’d be a fun project to see how well all the MCU content actually fits on a timeline. A few notes on the timeline if you’re curious: WHY DID I EXCLUDE AGENTS OF SHIELD, DAREDEVIL, ETC? As you can see, this video only covers the movies and the Disney+ shows (excluding “What If” since so far that series has been relegated outside the main timeline). Although shows like Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, Runaways, etc are “canon”. They’re mostly one-way canon. Meaning, they’ve existed outside or between the cracks of the mainline movies but don’t actually impact or push those movies forward in any way. In fact, until recently, the shows were all handled by a separate entity within Marvel entirely. Now, everything is under Kevin Feige’s authority (or K.E.V.I.N… lol) so the shows and movies are much more closely linked. In fact, at Disney events, when Feige shows the upcoming slate of movies for a phase, the shows are actually included. So, to truly understand the entirety of the MCU that “matters” for movie-continuity, so far… It seems like you need to know the story of the movies + the Disney+ shows. And… Let’s be honest… Including ALL the shows would be A LOT to cover. I’m not saying it’s out of the question for the future, but in terms of understanding the main events of the MCU. I think we have it covered in this vid :) HOW DID I FIGURE OUT THE CORRECT TIMELINE ORDER? First, I have to point out an insane coincidence. Literally, just a few hours ago, as I was putting the finishing touches on this video… Marvel Studios announced they are FINALLY releasing an official timeline. They released one when the first Avengers came out but that only covered Phase 1. Things have obviously gotten way more complicated since then so this is welcome news. Until that comes out, how do we determine the right timeline order? A few ways. Sometimes the movies themselves are VERY clear about when something takes place. For example, there will be on-screen titled cards (see Eternals for example) indicating the year. Or, in Endgame, the Avengers time travel to specific moments we saw in the movies and the years are indicated. Otherwise, there have also been in-continuity comic books (like Captain America: First Vengeance) which indicate years. There’s also that official timeline released for Phase 1. Beyond that, we can look to clues in the movies themselves or hints dropped in interviews. Looking for those clues and hints, I definitely referred to the MCU Fandom quite a bit (marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/) where the community has done an amazing job diving into the weeds of these movies but there are still many areas where there’s room for debate. In those cases, I had to make judgment calls. When all else fails, Disney+ recently added a feature where you can watch the MCU in timeline order. I say “when all else fails” because they’ve changed the order there a few times so you can’t always take that page as gospel either. Anyway, as you dig into the details, you find that the movies are internally contradictory. For example, throughout Iron Man, which came out in 2008, there are plenty of references to it taking place in 2008. Then Iron Man 2 is said to take place 6 months later… But, it takes place during Thor and Incredible Hulk which we know takes place in 2010. So, we have to assume that Iron Man retroactively takes place in 2009. The list goes on! If there’s interest, I may do a sort of “supplemental” video to this one, going into more of the details of piecing together the timeline and the various judgment calls I made where there’s room for debate. Though, like I said, that may soon be unnecessary if the official timeline clears things up! I NOTICED A MISTAKE IN YOUR VIDEO! Feel free to let me know about it in the comments! I may re-release the video in the future and expand it as we get into Phase 5. At that point, I can incorporate corrections.

This video looks amazing I just want to say and I'm very excited to watch but before I do I feel like taking the newest information is usually right when deciding things (unless blatantly wrong). For example civil war obviously takes place in 2016 and in that film vision mentions that iron man revealed himself 8 years ago, putting iron man back in 2008. Again great video, you may have even mentioned that I wouldn't know as I haven't seen the whole thing yet. Thank youuuu
Good lord, this must have taken an insane amount of time to research, write, and put together! Massive kudos for your dedication!

Dude, I hope you are given the credit you deserve from Marvel. This is the most perfectly detailed layout of the MCU that is possible and Marvel should give you your just due. Thank you to everyone that truly appreciates the work you put into, creating this narrative and video. I will pay your tab anytime we may meet lol.
Excellent work. Honestly, this really does make me appreciate the interconnectivity of the MCU overall. While some shows and movies are better than others, I appreciate the comic-book storytelling approach they've been able to apply to this on-screen franchise, and love how everything is connected in some way. Thanks for doing this, and continue to do great work!

Incredibly helpful isn't it. Especially the bits with Loki, for example he had the Tesseract on the Asgard ship because he'd taken it during Ragnarok at the end. Things like this have me scratching my head because when watching Infinity War I was confused at why Loki had it. This video makes this so much clearer.

This is by far the best recap of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You were able to capture so much with great detail and anyone who don't fully understand the MCU should watch this video as a 101. I have already shared the link with others to prove a point or two. Thanks for taking the time to create and share this with huge MCU fans like myself.
Wow. I'm impressed. I am going to be watching this in chunks and in my first half hour of viewing I only noticed one omission, and it's a very minor one. In November 1971, Asgardian prince Loki, using the alias "DB Cooper", hijacked an airplane and escaped by way of parachute after losing a bet to his brother Thor.

Hmm. I think there's a missed opportunity in between Doctor Strange and Civil War to utilize footage from the magnificent "What is grief?" scene from WandaVision. It's the only clip that shows their nascent relationship developing before they are separated in Civil War. These are not criticisms, they are suggestions from a fan for the update you mentioned. :)
@turtletrekker86

I don't think "freezing" is the right terminology to describe what the Eternals did to Tiamat. "Transmuted" is perhaps more accurate. The rumors are that the plots of the next Captain America movie and the Thunderbolts movie will revolve around various powers attempting to obtain mineral rights to Tiamut's corpse.

I've made it as far as Hawkeye, and it occurs to me that depending upon how things play out in Daredevil Born Again, it may become necessary to insert the events of Daredevil into your timeline in a future update. My only other thought at this point is that the scene from Falcon and Winter Soldier where Bucky is freed from his programming would make a good insert somewhere before Infinity War. Really enjoying this journey so far even though I've seen all of the material in question.
@turtletrekker86

Wow. What an incredible piece of work. You should be proud of yourself. Now that I've reached the end, the only suggestions I can make for your phase five update are the three presented above. The bit with Loki in 1971 is mostly just a bit of fun, but it serves to remind the audience that the Asgardians are still there in the story and that we will be coming back to them. The "what is grief" moment from WandaVision is the beginning of Wanda and Vision's romantic journey together and is it important part of their narrative. Likewise with the flashback to what kinda with Bucky in Falcon and Winter Soldier. That moment is an important part of Bucky's ark and should be included in the main narrative. That's it. The effort you put into this has earned yourself a subscriber in me. I look forward to new content.

This was absolutely fantastic. In fact, your recounting of Love and Thunder made that film more enjoyable than the film, itself. The idea was there, but the execution was a big let down - and you brought it back to its core essence. Thank you for this video, and for the many others on your channel that I've happily started going through! If you haven't already, I'd love to see a Star Wars complete retrospective like this one, but including the multiple animated series as well, since they're part of the canon. Again, fantastic job on this!

interesting theory!! I have a chronology obsession and usually love the act of putting pieces together like this but have only done so on smaller scales, like the Resident Evil games. The MCU has been something I've been wracking my brain over for a long time and here you've done all of my hard work for me. I know there are other Timelines out there but you include the years events take place so that makes you better. So I want to thank you for doing this, now I'm gonna be insane and watch the whole MCU according to this timeline.
The amount of time and preperation for this must've taken you a long time. I commend you my man & who ever helped you put this together. Just tremendous bravo

I still sit in awe of the patience, dedication, intelligence and talent required to put out such an outstanding piece of art. i loved the narration, flow and humour as well as the flawless editing of the videos. the bits of humour in spiderman and shehulk were just awesome. Thank you

Thank you sooo very much from a true hardcore MCU movie fan I'm sure like many others this has truly been such a GREAT chronological order that not only makes all the movies fit so much better in alignment and thus the phases of all these MCU movies in the proper order based on the actual years which all these movies are based on. Im so grateful ❤to you for for putting in all this time and effort to put this masterpiece that in itself deserves to be an actual MARVEL Disney+ Plus documentary series. Thank you so much for telling the Marvel story so professionally along with all the movie scenes to help move the themes and timeliness along. Sending you much love and respect from New York, please keep continuing this amazing work ty 😊
Sheesh! Congratulations on dropping this, I'm a big Marvel Fan but just can't find the time to watch all of these. I want you to know that it is greatly appreciated and I didn't skip at all!! And now, I'm ready for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 tonight
Has it been 5 hours already? Felt like I've just started 5 minutes ago lol. Great job! You saved me the trouble of watching Moon Knight, Ms Marvel and Hawkeye which I've been holding off for months. Can't wait to watch the rest of your videos. Thanks heaps!

@@OneTakeVids yeah mate your very welcome, massive fan of the MCU, so yeah awesome job 🌠🥇⚒️🤓
Great video!
This. Is. Spectacular!! I can stop explaining and direct every one here. Keep up the good work!
There are surprisingly a lot of blue species in the MCU. Kree, Frost Giants, Talokanil, Zatoan, Luphomoid, and probably more.
This is so perfect especially with Disney releasing TV Show after Movie and so on. It really helps with catching up on things in the MCU!
This might be the greatest ever! Dude you’re the goat for this. Can’t wait to see your other narrations. Good job!!!
This is very Impressive and I love it!! Thank you for taking all the time to make this, you rule!!!!
…………..you forgot the birth of the rat……how dare you! 😂 Jokes aside…incredible video…you’re amazing for doing this!

Lol I'll have to incorporate that for the next version! Thanks for the kind words! 🙏
The Celestials must have known at somepoint that Thanos's plan wouldnt be enough to stop the birth of a Celestial to not send the Eternals to fight. Just think, somewhere on earth there's an alien cat still out there. Imagine if Ultron decided to force Claw to take him to his where he gets his Vibranium and infiltrated Wakanda. This is a great recap of the MCU, nice work.
Thank you so much for making this video!!!! Absolutely one of the best videos I have ever seen on KZread
Amazing! I watched and listened to this all in one day, which is crazy to me. This is a great timeline recap. Thank you for the countless hours that must've gone into this video! Another correction, basically any time you say power stone you actually mean space stone. During the infinity war recap
Well done One Take!

Hey!!!!!! Support gaming!! Long time no see!
Watching this makes me appreciate Phase 4. Expanding the universe and escalating the stakes. Plus having it in chronological order makes the movies and shows more cohesive as a unit. If I didn't know Loki, Hawkeye, or Wandavision was a show, I would think it was a movie. I also think the shows are adding more depth, entertainment, and time to flush out origin stories which the movies can't do. Thank you for doing this, I enjoyed having this as background audio.

Yeah dude lol this guy explained all of these stories in a more entertaining way than the way they told even ones like She Hulk, he does so much massive justice to the Marvel universe, and still after watching this entire thing nothing has changed my mind that Iron Man is the best MCU film, and really helped catapult the Marvel franchise into mainstream wide recognition, arguably even more than Star Wars is in pop culture now
This is AWESOME! Very needed to put things in perspective
Absolutely incredible work, I’ve only just started the video and I’m utterly impressed! I would definitely love to see future iterations/expansions of this video! Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the kind words!! And the current plan is two updates per year, once at the beginning of summer (hopefully the first day of summer if I time things right) and again around Christmas!
This is insane! Marvel should reach out to you because you're keeping a better track of the timeline.
I'm gonna pull an "Ackchyually" and note that Sharon Carter is NOT Peggy's "daughter" or "granddaughter" as stated incorrectly several times in this video script. She is Peggy's grand-niece.

Thank you for putting this together!! Seem like a lot of work, appreciated your hard work👏🏻👍🏻
1000 kudos to you and all he hard work it took to bring this forward! Awesome job
Extraordinary chronology and breakdown. I most have been in an alternate reality listening to the full 5-hour production, and not feeling time passing by; that's how enthralling and captivating it's been. Thank you.
What a Hardwork...Never expected all the MCU in one video..Thank you man:)
This is an amazing piece of work. Thank you
I certainly can't be the only one thankful he saved me the trouble of having to sit through the tripe of phase 4. Giving me the lore while leaving out the nonsense( 'humor', insufferable characters, lame dialogue, etc) is a blessing
*standing ovation*
This is PHENOMENAL! Thank you sooo much for this!!!
Fantastic work. A couple mistakes.. (Sharon Carter is not Peggy’s daughter in the MCU).. But a clear and concise narrative! Opinion: It would have served the narrative had you included Agents of shield and the street level heroes Daredevil, Cage, Jones. Though small, they are part of the tapestry. But, of course, it would have added more time to the edit. (And I’m sure you had your reasons for not including them) You held my attention for 5hours, listening to a story I know like the back of my hand, from the books to the screen. FANTASTIC JOB! 👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Thank you for the kind words!!! 🙏 And I appreciate the feedback (good job not including insults along with them, it’s a rare thing in the comments section 😂)
Definitely only clicked to see if you’d include Marvel Tv lol but read your pinned comment and I get it. I mean just including SHIELD alone would prob add an hour to this vid 😭 I’m just over here still just waiting for the day that show gets some respect put on its name from the greater MCU
Know what I gotta give it to you because wow 5 hours but I was paying attention so much ! Crazy great job man
