Glad to see the detail parts were microwavable and re-heatable :)
Get those titanics done. Can’t wait for the Enterprise

Agreed
I do enjoy all your build videos and your newest videos on shop talk. Keep them coming.
Glad to see you building a CV-6. It is on my list after the Titanic.
Thank you so much for going over the aircraft im building the yorktown and wanted to know what i was getting into with getting the aircraft set and i feel confident i can actually make them it is for my buddy he lost interest in building the ship so im making it for it

Just treat each plane like it’s own little model kit and have fun!
Beautiful kit 😊
I built the Merit Hornet with the KA detail kit with deck. I put the deck down with modgepodge media. I pulled out the tie down strips afterward and used pva glue for the PE strips. It was an epic campaign to build that ship.

I bet! Thanks for sharing because that was my plan as well. Stick it all down first and then carefully pull out those little strips. Glad to hear from someone who made it work.
The availability of 3D printed 20mm cannons is an absolute game changer, I know I'd never finish the 1/200 Iowa without them.
Great show Ben and Nora, thanks very much for making the effort to make these programs 🍻🍻
Looking forward to this build and watching how it all comes together.
Looking forward to this... Hurry. I bet your heart skipped a beat when you saw the oerlikans done...
Looks awesome🍺🍺👍👍😓🙏💞💞🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for this Ben. You've inspired me to make my own Facebook page for my own modelling. So learning from you and some others. Thank you
The gun fire control radars are MK 33. These provided fire direction for the 5”25 anti aircraft guns
Going to be a very interesting build to watch!
Thanks for sharing 👍
What a monster set! Great review.
Looks like a really high quality kit $$$, thanks!
Gonna make a great video on the planes I hope. That’s parts look great!
Looking forward to the Pontos review. The KA seems like it set the bar very high!
The Admiral's boat is called a Barge
Such detailed printed parts.
No pressure, I agree with Jim. 😀
The aircraft you purpose using is from June of 1942, the 40mm Bofors weren't added till 1943.
Not quite sure what to make of this whole thing. So the CV-6 model has Bofors guns, which put her way after Midway time frame wise - late 1942 or early ´43. So why are Devastator torpedo bombers still in the kit? They were all phased out right after Midway and got replaced by Avengers. Santa Cruz and Eastern Salomons were fought with Devastators. It‘s nice to get them all detailed up even by the KA set, but it‘s sort of a wasted effort in terms of time frame accuracy of the depicted ship model. I also doubt the wing fuel drop tanks for the F4F Wildcats I briefly saw in the review, but this might be a lack of knowledge on my part.
7:50 that forklift is way to new of a model to have been on the enterprise
Great video Ben. I picked up this set not long after it came out and have spent a lot of time “Oohing and Ahhing” over the details. Unfortunately working away from home has prevented me from doing anything more up to this point. I will be following your build up with great interest. As I have The Titanic builds and your previous builds. I’m looking forward to your review of the Pontos set. Should I order it as well? We will see after your review. Keep up the great work. 👍
Great video Ben hope your pontos kit arrives soon, I'm still waiting

It’s here! I’ll show it next week!
My 33 directors not radars. My mistake. Mk 37 director added later that was a radar director.
👍👍
Microwave reheatable. Nice reusable containers!
Nice review. For my Missouri I procured the 20mm cannons from Micro Master, 3-D printed parts. They produce various barrel elevations and configurations of the weapon. Much easier than building out of brass and photoetch. I bought CV-5 Yorktown. Interesting that there are aftermarket kits for CV-6 Enterprise and CV-8 Hornet, both part of Yorktown class. But I have been unable to locate aftermarket kits for Yorktown. Even though all part of the same class, there were slight differences. Any thoughts as to how applicable either the CV-6 or CV-8 aftermarket kits are to CV-5?

Well it seems like Yorktown and Enterprise are mostly modeled the same and the Aftermarket kits cover a variety of configurations. My guess is you’d have to spec it out and pick and choose the right parts. That’s my plan. Figure out how she was configured. I’m going to use the Pontos wood deck because it’s already stained the correct blue. So I’m thinking sometime in ‘43 before the refit. Which means I have to count all the guns and sort that out.
Holy detail Batman. Looks like you are going to have fun. Can’t wait til you start. Are you doing the refit version or original

1943 before the refit
Great review as always! Depending on the specific era that you're aiming for you may/may not need the boats. It would have been very unusual for a warship to carry those into a war zone. Recall the difference between the number of boats on your Arizona build vs your Missouri project. Pontos appears to be modeling the Enterprise after her late '42 refit by which time the boats, cribs, and handling gear were long gone. Of course, you can always employ "modeler's license" as you did with the Arizona's range clocks. No matter how you proceed it will be a VERY interesting build. I'm 5 hanger deck "wall panels" into my build (Pontos add-on) and there are already numerous "gotchas" that have cropped up. Problem solving on deck!
Hi, I have the same stuff and i thing mine did not include the plane parts, I need to check that... anyways is the ponto kit necessary if you have the mk1?

No it is not. But there are different parts in the Pontos kit. I’m going to do a video on it this week!
Ck-2 for post early 1943.
Didn't you say that the deck was pre-painted.
Ben, this is an extra kit you ordered for the Big E kit?

Sorry...should have watched your vid a little further. It is the advanced kit to go along with the Big E kit. Nice kit!

No worries. I have another kit I purchased for it from Pontos, too. I hope to share it next week.
Hi 👋there what is the purpose of this kit?? It's very nice and well modelled but didn't you get..is it "Pontose??" (spelling).... photoetch set for the Enterprise?? I like your candor on these kits and builds. Looking forward to the Enterprise build

Hello Guy! Yes, I also purchased the Pontos kit. My plan is to use both for the build. There are some differences. I also want to compare as many parts of this kit as possible for everyone. Because the Pontos kit is very expensive, not everyone will be able to get both. So I want to present the options that are available out there.

@@TheMidwestModelShop hello again this is going to be a very interesting build indeed. Comparing the 2 photo etch kits is a nice touch on this build. Looking forward to the build and the comparison of the PE kits. You know, this will be a lot of work but the results, I'm sure, will be worth it. 😉
Watching all those PE parts gives me anxiety :)
