You may not like this response. But the Haunted Mansion Movie by Eddie Murphy is really close to the Phantom Manor Story, while base on the WDW mansion architecture and the New Orleans Location. The Movie takes inspiration from all 3 haunted mansions (orlando, california and Tokyo) and the Phantom Manor. The love story is there. The skeleton catacomb scene, the "phantom" butler. While the movie didnt do the ride justice, it blended all versions of the ride. Hell, even the attic and the portrait, iconic scenes from the Haunted Mansion are there.

@@115DELDE I mean I noticed those few similarities but its still not done properly. While, I praise them for the gag side that was interpreted from the ride to the film, the dark tonal shifts and proper story telling are somewhat the movie is lacking. However, there's nothing really a big connection about the real lore of Phantom Manor in the 2002 movie version. We must remember that the town of Thunder Mesa, Big Thunder Mountain, and the spirit of Thunderbird plays a huge role to Phantom Manor.

Disney is awful company it's implementing 1930s ideology and targeting children with sex. The bullying taking place inside their company is shocking and using consentration camps in china they shoot a film in then thank them. They also employ harvey weinsteins grooming accomplice. People hate working there and they sacked thousands of people on the lowest wages while giving the big bosses a considerable pay increase. I love how well timed the camera angle was with the animatronic’s movement at 2:30. The red lights in his eye holes also help make it look like he’s actually staring at you while gesturing to the open grave.

"Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialiizzee" with all of us brave and intrigued guests, of the mysterious manor.🎯🌑🎶👻

Ngl, I liked the old storyline for Phantom Manor better. Yes, it was ambiguous whether Henry Ravenswood was the Phantom, but that was the beauty of it. The Phantom's identity was a mystery, and the old storyline with the one suitor was much simpler, and had much more tragedy to it. The train engineer was Melonie's first, and final love, as she would spend the rest of her days wandering the house, waiting for his return. Here, there are four suitors, and the train engineer is cut out completely, so Melonie's love life was less of a tragedy, as it had happened four times already, and was just turning into a cycle. What was supposed to be Melonie's happiest say turned into her most horrifying one. Now, it seems repetitive. They also cut out one of the most iconic Haunted Mansion props of the hanging man.

I miss the way Phantom Manor was before the refurb. The story was a little more mysterious, the Phantom wasn’t hovering over Melanie’s shoulder in every damn scene, and she doesn’t go crazy in the end. She helps you escape even as she’s turning into a skeleton. It was much creepier and tragic and less in your face. It feels like these are two different rides now.

@@Sorcerer-SMC They really did. i liked Melanie bcuz she was a brave lady. She kept waiting and waiting for Jake and never let the Phantom drive her crazy like she did in this version. Her last act was to let us out of the manor she was trapped in it was so heroic. She also only loved Jake. This version just makes her seem desperate and a watered down version of Constance. I never wanted her to be Constance because shes Melanie

I think the new version was great. We have this thing called in our country "loco de amore" (got easily fooled because of just wanted to be loved by someone and turned into a crazy person) which is the worse outcome towards love. I really liked it. One thing my complaint about the new version that was thankfully fixed later on was the Haunted Mansion ballroom music. Haha!

Phantom manor is the even better version of Haunted Mansion... the story behind the attraction is something extraorinary, i whish this brilliant dark ride lasts forever! keep it as it is now forever!

While it doesn’t necessarily pertain to this version of the Haunted Mansion, I think my favorite piece of trivia about the Haunted Mansion as a whole is how in the Disney World version, there is a rather infamous error in the ballroom scene: Due to how the Pepper’s Ghost illusion works, the resulting projection of the dancing ghosts accidentally depicts the women leading the men in the dance

We need a full-length Phantom Manor movie from Disney. It would be a lot better than the Haunted Mansion movie from the 2000’s.

Haunted Mansion has been my favorite ride ever since my dad got me a book on the history of the ride. My dream is to one day go to Disneyland Paris and to ride Phantom Manor. I love that Vincent Price, the king of creepy, is the English narrator.

Yeah, I don’t have the highest hopes for Chapek, but it just pains me to say it, cutting corners might for the time being be needed to get Disney through the pandemic. If he does not sooner or later see that cutting corners is not going to exactly help much after coronavirus has been eradicated then he should be removed from office.

One I never went to Disney Paris which I will say look amazing and very different from Disney in Florida Secondly yes in my opinion this is popular ride in Disney no matter which one you go to. I actually went on it, but unfortunately the trip I went I say ....not this December but the one before which I enjoyed the line was booming as in really long probably a two hour or longer wait , but I fully enjoyed the ride my mother and grandmother who can't go on many rides were able to ride on this one, which brought back old memories in youth

PHANTOM MANOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay so she had 4 suitors that mysteriously died. So who was the fifth Suitor that made it clear up to the wedding day till the Phantom hangs him in the stretching room?

Controversial opinion: I’m not a fan. Yes the animatronic figures are impressive and the scenes are fairly elaborate but I’m not a fan of the storylines. The beginning seems like a take on Phantom of the Opera and the latter portion seems like Pirates of the Caribbean set in the old west. It seemed strange and disjointed, and a lot fewer lighter, more humorous moments. It’s especially obvious when they tried to tie in the elements of the OG Haunted Mansion (ie Madame Leota room, Grim Grinning Ghosts singing busts, etc) because they seemed out of place in both the earlier and the latter storylines/settings. The dog that is in the graveyard like in most HM attractions was super creepy and I didn’t like how they portrayed him at all. That balance of creepy mixed with humor is what makes the other Haunted Mansions spooky and fun, but this just seemed too dark and less enjoyable. I don’t just want to appreciate a ride, I want to enjoy it. The Asian parks have even more whimsical HM attractions than WDW and DL, but Paris seems to have gone down the somewhat macabre route instead. To each his own, but I think the more traditional Disney approach of making attractions enjoyable for kids and adults due to the mix of adult themes and humor is the better approach.
