    Nop - sorry, not the Sex Pistols either. As you can hear in the demo, this song used xylophone.

    The BUM and DO sounds made me laugh. For some reason it reminds me of the soundtrack used in the Nick show DOUG. The Pipe Organ sounded amazing! Real phantom of the opera sounding. Nice work!

    Anything I ever sampled into my Mirage came out huge and crunchy and would fit anywhere. You are not limited to what is on the factory disks if you’re at all clever! 😆👍🏼 Thanks Paolo!

    One of the disks that you haven't covered - I think it was in set "C" - is a split with distorted vocal sounds. The moment I loaded it on my Mirage I was delighted to find out it was the sounds used on one of my favourite industrial songs, "1,000,000th Happy Customer" by the Cassandra Complex. They also made heavy use of the orchestral sounds from the Roland S series library on another great track of theirs, "Nightmare Over EC".

    Haven't covered it *yet because it's in set "C" (so far I posted A and B). I was a "dark" teenager back then and I actually bought that very album when it came out (I still have it in Italy), and that classic sample is "Low Mondo Voices" disk. Stay tuned for posting it soon.

    Lots of synths say 1980s, but few iconic synths scream late 1980s as this one does.

    @@MoonLanta Yeah, by the time a couple years had passed since the Mirage's intro, a large number of recordings featured these sounds so I would put the sonic imprint of this synth in history as having mainly occured in the mid and later 1980s. Apple's final computer in their original Apple ][ line was released in 1986 and featured the same DOC5503 oscillator chip which was used in the Mirage, the ESQ series, the SQ-80, and possibly more so those uses added to the late 1980s framing for these sounds. Sampling wasn't so much of a thing in the early 1980s largely thanks to the cost of memory at the time.

    The "Do" as well. I think the preset split the keyboard for those two sounds and Paulo made a video ages ago of him showing how the two sounds worked together on the Inner City track.

    That pipe organ @15:46 is huge! It sounds just like the pipe organ in the Phantom of the Opera overture. I’ve never heard anything like it anywhere else it’s an incredible sound. Why is it so elusive? It’s almost 40 years old now. It can’t be that hard to re-create. Is that exact patch available as a VST anywhere?

    Hi! Question, so these are the original disks that came with the mirage? Are you telling me there were 20 disks that came included? Also, do you know if the same sounds or disks came with the Ensoniq - EPS?

  • @SynthManiaDotCom

    @SynthManiaDotCom

    Not included, you bought the 30 disks separately, like other samplers of the era. The EPS had a different library, although it incorporated some of the older Mirage samples in some of the disks.

    Was this a Rompler?

  • @AutPen38

    @AutPen38

    Жыл бұрын

    It was a sampler (you could record and play back your own sounds), but also had factory sounds on discs, which is effectively the same as storing them in ROM.
