Pretty much all of them, to be honest. If I have to choose, it'd be Four Leaf, simply because he's a fake Vietnam veteran being played by an actual Vietnam veteran (Nick Nolte)

I saw this in the theater, it took me a second before I recognized the voice. Once I realized who it was, I couldn't unsee it. But the fat suit, the hair, and huge hands and forearms threw me off for a moment.

I remember reading this from the IMDB trivia and it makes his character so much better knowing this lol: "Ben Stiller said nearly all aspects of the Les Grossman character were developed by Tom Cruise, including the dancing and the look of the make-up. Stiller said that in addition to the more obvious make-up effects applied to Cruise's face and head, and the extra hair on his chest and arms, Cruise also decided to play the character wearing oversized prosthetic hands."

He lost to the late Heath Ledger as the Joker in _The Dark Knight_ The role of Rick Peck was originally written with Owen Wilson in mind. However, Wilson was going through some mental health issues at the time, and Ben Stiller cast Matthew McConaughey instead to let his friend recover.

The movie shellshocked me, I was so blown away I couldn't even laugh half the time. I laughed more after the movie was over and I was talking about it with friends. The characters were so outlandish, every actor nailing their role, the whole story was ridiculous but at the same time highlighted real Hollywood stereotypes. It was so stupid/smart! One of the greatest comedies I've watched.

If you pay close attention, he even changes his character in the commentary to match whatever character he is playing on-screen.

"Les Grossman" was actually Tom Cruise (Top Gun) in a Fat suit! He pretty much had Total Control of the Character, from the Dance Moves down to wearing fake "Fat Hands". A few Years Later, during an Awards Show, Jennifer Lopez was performing, but "Les Grossman" (in full Wardrobe) joined her onstage to add to the Dance Routine... TOTALLY Blew everyone's mind!

Well atleast YOU get it. I’ve seen many reaction vids of this movie and I can’t tell you how many times I see confused looks on peoples faces from the opening few minutes of the parody trailers like the scorched earth one. Clearly a play on the ridiculousness of recycling IP’s with dumber and dumber sequels and the ridiculousness of the masses swallowing it up. I usually stop it right there because it’s maddening/frustrating how so many people take things literally and can’t see the irony/humor

Loved the reaction as always! It was refreshing to see someone react to it who didn’t act offended at everything 😂

The best thing in the film is Tom Cruise dancing with a beer belly!

Tugg told Sandusky that they'll slime him because he's talking about the Kids' Choice Awards on Nickelodeon. A lot of people get slime poured on them at that awards show, which is vanilla pudding with neon green food coloring. The first time someone was slimed on Nickelodeon, real green slime (rotten food scraps that had turned green from mold) with green food coloring was used. They changed it right after that.

No way was anyone going to beat Heath Ledger's Joker in the Dark Knight even before he died. But RDJ now has his Oscar something that 25 years ago would have been unthinkable for a man who looked like he was going to be dead before he turned 40 years old.

The interesting coincidence is that RDJ's win came for a Christopher Nolan film, and he lost to a performance from a Nolan film the year he lost for TROPIC THUNDER. A full circle moment! As a matter of fact, until OPPENHEIMER, Ledger's performance in THE DARK KNIGHT was the only ever performance from a Nolan movie to be nominated (let alone win). As of this writing, Nolan now has a near-perfect streak of directing people to acting wins (he now has directed 4 people to Oscar nominations, of which 3 of them won (the only acting nomination that any Nolan movie didn't win is now Emily Blunt for OPPENHEIMER)).

I have watched numerous ‘Tropic Thunder’ reaction videos on YT and while you are definitely not the only one who did not recognize Tom Cruise as Les Grossman, you are definitely the first person to not catch him in the credits, and not even mention his name throughout the whole video. Lol Cruise was iconic in a role that nobody ever expected him to do. Him and RDJ killed it in this movie, my two favorite characters in a movie with a whole lot of characters! 😄

The name tropical thunder is based on the nickname of the 25 infartey Division of the US Army which is known as Tropic lLightning. . The 25th is stationed in Hawaii. Several men who go on to become celebrities served in the unit at various times , country musician George Strait, actor and rapper Ice T and filmmaker Olvier Stone. Stone served in the division during the Vietnamese war and is a Vietnam and is a Vietnamese veteran and the film Platoon is a fictionalized version of some of Stones own experience in that War. This fil. Is partially a spoof of Platoon as well as other war movies.

The pigmentation liquid shown (little bottle with red cap) is used in Chinese medicine. I used to do Wing Chun and we used it for bruises/tissue damage on the arms/legs after practice. I assume that as Robert Downey Junior practices Wing Chun that is was his?

Oh my God that's the funniest thing I've seen all week. When she started singing along to Apple bottom jeans, I was not prepared.

The "Lance" that Alpa Chino said he had feelings for and then later on kissed at the award show was Lance Bass from NSYNC. He had publicly come out as gay about a year earlier

I've watched a BUNCH of reactions to this Classic Comedy, but this one might be my favourite so far. Bisscute is vibing with the humour, pretty much all the Classic lines are included, we've gotten at least a couple quality P-r-r-r-ricks!, and the way that 28:15 lands is Pure Joy. 🤣☮❤

Ben Stiller got the idea for this movie while working on Spielberg's Empire of the Sun. Worth checking out but definitely not a comedy though.

This has to be one of the best satires on Hollywood, the Hollywood system and its stereotypes. As well as the best parody of war films.

"MTV Movie Award: Best Kiss Winner - Toby Maguire" Those trailers were a fantastic choice to start the film with. However, it only really worked if you saw the movie in the theater when it first came out. After _Jackass 2, and _South Park,__ this movie probably got the most laughs in the theater of all the comedies I ever went to watch.

Tropic Thunder has been my favorite comedy movie since the day I saw it in the theatre. I bet I've seen it more than 20 times.

The movie is hilarious, I've always enjoyed movies that make fun of and parody the movie industry and how movies are made. RDJ's character making fun of character actors is doubly funny because RDJ IS a character actor (although I don't believe to nearly that degree). Did you know that Les Grossman was Tom Cruise? Loved the review as always.

When re-watching, ya realize it's so well written. So many set-ups and pay-offs. Act 1: Speedman's adopted Asian child is in the playpen (child prison) with a knife. Act 3: Speedman (held prisoner) adopts an Asian child that ends up stabbing him with a knife.

Robert Downey Junior is super good in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang! A must see! Super good comedy thriller mystery movie! And he is super good in Natural Born Killers too, but that is a smaller role. And not a comedy, even if it makes you laugh at times. I think this Australian bit in Tropic Thunder is from that movie. Robert is not an Aussie, but he plays one in Natural Born Killers. So the Aussie part in this movie must be a nod to that movie.
