Engwe Engine Pro (Feature packed E Bike)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I absolutely love companies who take the feedback of their customers and reviewer, than make their bikes better!
Although there are still a few small things that would make this bike perfect, I think Engwe has done a good job at making this the most value packed folding electric fat bike in it's price range.
These are my honest first impressions of the Upgraded Engine Pro from Engwe.
A feature packed electric bike that is built strong, has good range, and a strong power plant.

I have 2 of these and done good mileage on both over all sorts of terrain ; including off road and tarmac and everything inbetween ! They are good value for money and very happy . Yes; def; there is huge room for improvement and a few gripes about it - the rattling mudguards drive me nuts and a few other small problems since owning them. However; with good range; the ability to do high speed if need be ( regularly pushed it just for fun and hit over 30 - 32 mph !! ) and comfortable etc. My experience based on good ownership of many bikes over the years is that Engwe have a great overall bike here and I'm a relatively satisfied customer ! Bang for buck ; these are great here in the UK, Kent.

The regen works well on (the many) long downhills around me... just flick it down to setting 1 and it comes in straight away. It also activates in all power levels if going over the user-set speed limit downhill (i.e. not pedaling) and by observation recharges at up to 580W. The cells are Samsung according to the latest info on their site. A lot of the rear fender noise can be solved by adding washers between the mounts near the wheel bolts and the frame to stand if off just 1mm, which stops the mounting arms rattling against the frame. The rear suspension pivot is also too close on the left of the bike (looking forward) which can be solved by changing the 82mm axle bolts to 86mm and adding a washer on that side (both there and on the shock).

It's generally safer and more controlled to ride standing up in sketchy situations. You have more ability to let the bike move underneath you without throwing your own mass around. Unless there is some characteristic of these smaller wheeled bikes that I'm unaware of. It's probably something you just need to spend more time getting comfortable with. Excellent review by the way! Really appreciate your well balanced attention to detail and safety ;) Cheers!

Thanks for the great review - finally one on this bike that is honest, and I agree this bike is worth critiquing but you said it well that there aren't any deal-breakers. I've been looking into folding e-bikes as my main mode of transportation and this is the most thorough review I've seen on this particular bike. I've been exhausted riding my 10 year old Specialized hybrid up the last half mile, 10-12% grade road to where I'm living. I recently moved there from NYC and don't have a car so I'm looking for a daily driver that is practical and functional. This seems to check every box off the list of what I'm looking for, which for me these requirements are - a 750w max power motor (for those legal purposes which I still don't fully know the laws) with relatively quick throttle acceleration and power when riding on roads in traffic (not many practical bike paths where I live), fenders are absolutely required if you're zipping to and from work, appointments or running errands without being covered in gunk, a rack for whatever you need it for, hydraulic disc breaks for safety when riding on roads, and full front and back suspension for comfort making it a more functional choice when going about, also the functional display. I don't know much about Engwe, but comparing the many bikes that are similar it seems they are an actual company and not some of the amazon nock-off brands that replicate this common design for an ebike. Others on amazon seem to cut costs by removing fenders and rear racks, suspension, battery capacity, etc. and some are hard to find any information about the generic companies. This seems to hit a sweet spot. I think I would add one of those break lights on amazon that has turn signals for safety on the streets with a built in motion alarm as well as upgrade the front headlight - I wonder if it's possible to do both integrating into the bike's circuits. I would also probably upgrade the saddle, but I would do this on any bike. It looks like yours has stitching and ventilation which isn't the same as the saddle shown on their website - I wonder if the images are of the prior, not "upgraded" version with the smaller battery and possibly different saddle. I would consider the upgraded 750w Engwe EP-2 Pro, but the tradeoff for the several hundred dollar cost savings would be the rear suspension, (hydraulic or not at least the Engine Pro has suspension), larger battery capacity and that extremely functional display. The display is also indicative of a more intelligent control of each of the components and I think it's worth it for those features. It's pretty neat to brag about your bike having regenerative breaking even if it doesn't function as you may set it up if you were the one developing the control sequencing of it but (wishful thinking here) perhaps they can update the firmware in the future to make it more functional without having to purchase a new bike - the physical components are there, the bike just needs to be more intelligent on how to control them. At Engwe's website, for a few extra bucks they have an option to add an additional full capacity battery, which is the last cherry on top selling point for me. It's quite a bit less than adding an extra $400 battery from them. Unfortunately, it looks like your discount code doesn't apply for the Engine Pro "Battery Pack" option on Engwe's website. Any possibility of making that work? Having an extra battery makes the bike that much more functional and practical on a longer ride and not worrying about running out of capacity - even with the additional backup plan of being able to peddle your way around town and back home. It's not an exercise bike, it's a practical vehicle. And in addition to the extra capacity to go on a longer ride, the battery will inevitably go through battery wear over time. Well, I wasn't expecting to write this much but thanks for coming to my TED talk. I've really been comparing as many of these bikes in this price range that I can, hoping to spend about $1k but willing to spend a little more if there are features that I can't live without. I don't want to spend more than $1500 or $1600 though. That price range would put the bike in an entirely different category. Your review convinced me and it's looking more and more like I'll go with the Engine Pro upgraded version with the extra battery (again, can your code work on that package also?) Thanks again for the great review.

10:26 something that I REALLY want in an Ebike of this type, have multiple front gears for a 14/21/28 speed setup. The hardest part of riding a bike is getting started, since when you're moving you have momentum. However, on most of these you can go 25+mph on full throttle, but your pedal tops out at only 18-20 MPH. There needs to be another gear for top speed. I want to contribute throughout the powerband.

Just ain't comfy with those little bars at high speed. It's been raining in houston for the past week. Every damn time i get a new bike it rains for weeks just to piss me off. Just kidding. 14:10 Incidentally when I built the electric/2 stroke hybrid, I had to move the e-throttle over to the left side. It was certainly an adjustment, but you get used to it. Considering you've got to wrap your head around two wheel drive with independent throttles and incredibly different drive dynamics, if you can figure all that out, a throttle on the left isn't too bad. Likewise, I could have fit it on the right, next to the twist throttle for the 2 stroke, but having to twist your wrist while managing a thumb throttle with the same hand seemed like too much hard work. As always, I've gotta beg you to build a front hub hybrid one day!

2:36 I see the 20x 4 fat tires as a big BIG negative now. They are just as prone to flats and blowouts as regular tires, but no one carries them locally, so you either have to wait, or buy dodgy tires online. I wish ebikes would be made with 26 x 1.75 tires. I don't need to go offroad. I doubt most people do, and if they do, it's on a much more specialized bike, not a folding bike. All of the "features" you list here are pretty standard. With my Lectric xp 2.0, I have all those, though your about 1/3rd bigger battery, so the extra 500 bucks is put to that. I think all of these folding ebikes are coming out of the same factory, or group of factories in Southern China. They all seem samey.

Initial response: Got this bike for my friend. kzread.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ Delivery was fast. And the friend was surprised I would order it when she had never suggested she wanted anything but the pedal bike she had. She has now ridden the bike two times and gives it a 10 and says it is very fun. We have some hills in our town that are very challenging to climb on a typical bike. But tonight she went up with the pedal assist and loved it. I was way behind on my standard bike, huffing and puffing. Now she is no longer lagging behind me. This thing is powerful enough that a person could go around town without any pedaling. She likes to get some exercise so on flat ground she hits the red button to turn off pedal assist and only uses the twist throttle when she's in a tough spot. The bike looks good. It is really a very nice bike for the friend. Now for me, when I get an electric bike, I'm twice her size and will be looking for a bigger watt motor and battery. But this one is just wonderful for my friend. I am happy with this purchase.
