I am an Australian travelling to Russia in August - will probably be going to Vladimir as part of my trip. I mean I am very excited to see Russia but I'm especially excited to walk through a Russian forest which is of course completely different to an Australian forest (or "the bush" as we call it). If you're planning to go into the wilderness, please ask your hosts (in hotel or friends) how to properly wear your pants to prevent tick bites. Ticks are not the poisonous snakes, but even Aussies must be wary about them. Welcome to Russia =)

@@olekscap4620 The worst you'll get from ticks in Australia is Mammalian Meat Allergy, in Russia it's Encephalitis which can be fatal. If you're going into the wilderness, get the vaccine. It's proven and safe. And Russia is a glorious place.

I'm from Michigan and love camping. My parents used to have 12 acres to camp on for 20 years, but no more. There was a natural spring down the road that we used until we got well water. Being older, I like to only drink 2 glasses of wine before dinner and that's it. I remember the good old days downing one beer after another all night. Hangovers and dry heaves the next day was not enjoyable at all! You made the right decision to leave early. There are happy drunks and mean drunks! The mean ones take the fun out of camping. ✌️😁👍

(as you might guess from my name lol) Thanks for sharing the radio station! this is always something i enjoy, the little bits of music when you are driving somewhere. In your car Sam, place a foldable saw., a hatchet., something to start fire with and some kind of tarp, you will thank me next time you camp with your friends. (be prepared) It's a forest., close to the town yes? it is a well used forest i can see, normally, you don't leave traces, so everyone can enjoy a clean/pristine forest.. About moving to Russia, i do want to visit, i dream of swimming in the Volga one (summer) day, and wander trough the huge forests.., and now also the 20 BBQs a year, all in good time i guess ;) Thanks a lot for the video Sam!

Privyet, Sam. I understand your friends and their desire to seek solace. I have a saying that fits their view -- "I love people, but I don't always like people." Peace and quiet is medicine for the mind and soul. The outdoor banyas are interesting. We have a natural outdoor banya where I live. It's called summer. That said, the banyas and saunas of Russia and Finland and other near-Arctic countries look quite therapeutic, especially in winter. I wish we had that kind of winter. Camping where I live is great, if you go to designated camping areas. They tend to be crowded, though. If you decide to experience rough camping, you will definitely deal with briars, fire ants,, mosquitoes, horse flies, wasps, ticks, at minimum, and possibly even spiders, snakes, skunks, racoons, opossums, armadillos, coyotes, deer, wild boar, bobcats, black bear, depending on where you are and how deep in the woods you are camping. If you are close enough to a bigger body of water, even alligators can be seen. In our national forest, you could also run across tarantulas, scorpions, and coral snakes. Not for the novice. That forest you were in looks clean and well-kept. I am surprised you don't see bears and wolves around, though. Also, anywhere you have spring water coming out of the ground is a place that should be protected for everyone to enjoy. Blagosloveniya, Sam. Great job, as usual.

Hey Sam! I hope Baba Yaga doesn't sneak up on you and pull your head off! In England, you would need a permit, then a permit FOR the permit, and submit everything at least 6 months in advance in triplicate. Plus, the local yobs would have destroyed everything and then set fire to the forest. Only government approved camping gear will be approved, and you would need proof of wildlife insurance!

It eventually got out of hand and the local authorities had to get involved. There seems to be a lot of open areas, so places don't get as congested as here. For as long as I can remember, the camp grounds were always full. That was a long time ago. Thanks again

You definitely don't want to be the odd man out amongst drunks! I don't drink except for maybe once or twice a year and one drink will get me buzzed. When I go camping, I go there to enjoy nature, and the peace and quiet. I don't go to party. I can't stand it when I go camping and there is some asshole playing their stereo loudly and making a bunch of noise. Campgrounds kind of suck that way because you never know who'll be next door.

Camping is very popular in my State, so much so you may need to plan a year in advance for RV spots. I tent and car camp mostly so I can get away from such drunk activities. Tent or car 4x4 camping can get you deeper into the woods away from the RV life lol.

I also made the decision in 2006 to move away from the city and live in nature, just outside a small town of a population of about 6000, we do have mountain lion, black bears, bobcat, deer, coyotes and lots of birds. So it feels like camping all I have to do is start a fire in my fire pit and invite people over and bring a tent. I live next to a river is a plus in the summer, but crazy in the fall and spring when it floods.

We used to bury the shit ( just bring a small sapernaya lopatka with you), but don't desecrate the forest by shit buckets. This is what happens in some places, unfortunately. It's ok if you leave a tiny bench or a safe spot for a fire behind, but everything else should be taken back to the city or burned. Sorry Sam, it made me angry. Have a great summer mate !

The problem with the US is I used to love it here. But as I grew older and I saw how it has declined, it infuriates me of how off the rails it has gotten. I hope to be one of the lucky who leave the US and its policies and agendas behind. If not Russia, then somewhere where I can feel comfortable and where I belong.

Here it is often family or couple and for sure young men...I do not understand the pleasure of being drunk...I guest not remembering what they did must give them some king of adventure... It was interesting to see that the forest is respected. I did subscribe to your other chanel but only old (8months) videos with a lot of girlssss....
