English Pronunciation Training | Tongue Twisters

Фильм және анимация

One of the best ways to improve your English pronunciation is with Tongue Twisters. They are a sequence of words or sentences, with no meaning, that help us to practise saying difficult sounds.
I've picked out 10 Tongue Twisters that I think are perfect for you to focus on those tricky English sounds like /v/ and /w/ for example.
Watch till the end to see me make loads of MISTAKES with one very very difficult tongue twister!

My German exchange student found this one amusing: One woman went walking westward whilst we willingly waited. When you finally get this one right, feel free to add, “Wow!” Haha! And it’s always fun to try short tongue twisters in repetition. For example, say, ‘Unique New York” or “toy boat” five times quickly. And always remember: A mouse or some mice, A louse or some lice, But a spouse with some spice tops a house without mice, and all louseless houses unspoused and unspiced. Cheers! -Phill, Las Vegas

One game changer for me was to start reading out loud. If you understand spoken English and read to yourself, in your head is gonna sound right. It is not until you start to listen to your own voice that you realize it doesn't sound so good; your physical body hasn't the ability to make those noises. Sometimes i pay more attention to the sounds i am producing than the meaning of the text. Bye the way, excellent job you're doing here my friend.

Betty Botter bought some butter, but she said the butter is bitter. If I put it in my batter it will make my batter bitter. But a bit of better butter, that would make my batter better. So she bought a bit of butter better than her bitter butter and she put it in her batter and the batter was not bitter. So it was better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter.

Hi Tom. I can`t even express how grateful I am to have you as my English idiom "ambulance". A teacher of English, a native-like speaker of French living in Germany is at times "lost in translation". You are my "saviour", Tom. Thanks for that. These are my ideas for French and German students: "Hungry Henry Hook hit Hungarian hood with his hammer hoodoo hoof." (h) and "We will wine and dine our whisky fan" , "Wine from vine wanders very fine in our wild van". (w) and (w) vs (v). Cheers!

Thank you so much , for your kindly reply , Tom. Sometimes I confuse with British English and American English , for example a word "DANCE" has a different pronunciation in British and American. other thing is some different way of saying for example number " 0"....in British English it calls "(letter) O"..in American "Zero" . do you have any other example words which are often we found in most general conversation ?

Here for me the "thr" needs some special training. But I loved the exaggerated pronunciation in general. Espacially I loved to hear claerly the difference between the vowels in "here" an "there". Dear. Bear. All these small differences in the range between the german i an ä are very tricky for me to hear and to reproduce. And then to get the 'a' right between german a and ä. Sigh. Vowels would be a great video topic for me.

Hi Huyen Nguyen great point. Have you watched my video about the L and R sounds? It might be useful for you. I think a video about just the L sound might be useful so thank you! kzread.info/dash/bejne/k6SB1bdqkriYedY.html
