English Phrasal Verbs With "UP" | British English Lesson

Join my British Pronunciation Course: www.etjenglish.com
Discover some very native phrasal verbs involving the word ''up'' - these are probably phrasal verbs you won't have studied in school. However, they are very commonly used in British, as well as other forms of English.
Remember, you don't NEED an RP British accent to speak English well... There are loads of accents out there! I'm just here to help people who have a love for modern versions of RP.

As i am studying phonetic, i would like to ask you if you would produce a video containing all the pronunacition of the alphabet including diphthongs and vowels accents, etc. I would really appreciate it because i am sure it will help really much. Thanks a lots Elliot. Best wishes from Argentina.

Thank you Elliot. Here is my notes. 1. Play up - make a fuss (He's playing up again.) 2. Fed up (of something) - you had enough, you don't want anymore (I'm fed up, I had enough of this) 3. Dress up - wear something formal (Do I need to dress up for this party?) / Dress up costume 4. Make up (a story) - telling lies (Stop making things up, that's not true.) 5. Gobsmacked - shock, can't believe something, surprise (I'm gobsmacked, I can't believe it)

Just jumping on this video because it's a your most recent one. You're probably my favourite British English teacher on youtube and I frequently send your videos to my students when they're on a relevant topic. Arse-kissing out of the way, I'd love to see a video on the "aw" vowel from you, because it's one that causes a lot of confusion with students because 1) it's one of the areas that really separates British from American English and 2) it's spelt in so many different ways (and so often confused with other sounds) : caught, thought, thaw, and (non-rhotic) court, port Bonus points if you contrast it with the "oh" vowel as in law / low bought / boat. They get confused a lot in my experience. Anyway, you make whatever videos you think you should, but I think it could be a really helpful/popular one. Plus, there isn't much in the way of British English videos on this topic right now, and law/low is a common question and so potentially a traffic driver I guess. Anyway, all the best!
