What you gotta know about Bulgaria is that while we are only a small nation, we are one of the oldest European countries and we have suffered a lot throughout history. You can't break a Bulgarian's spirit! We have seen wars, slavery, genocide, communism, the crazy 90s mafia years. Many of us live and work abroad to provide for our families back in Bulgaria. We've been through all of that and we don't stop!

"The Danube sparkles"is not a very good translation... but is probably the one that makes most sense... The literal translation would be "Next to it the Danube is (big quotes) BLUEING (end big quotes)" :D They mean to say the Danube is "shimmering in blue".... which it very rarely is (most of the time the color is sh*tty). But yeah... The Danube is "blueing" :D

You mean that Danube flows through many countries in Europe. It kind of does not flow through Bulgaria though, but it rather serves as its northern border. In the anthem the Danube is just mentioned as a notable natural phenomenon that is close to Bulgaria. The Balkan mountain range as well as the mountain of Pirin an the valley of Trace, are also mentioned in this verse, and these pretty much identify the location of the country, even though some parts of Trace are not in modern day Bulgaria.

Life of Manakin it is kind of disrespectful because the anthem talks about people giving their life for the country and that is not a cheerful matter and also there is an original Bulgarian anthem that is talking more about our solders and wars and so you stay completely still when listening to it out of respect mostly for the bulgarians lost their lifes ❤️
