    Hi Mister, Since I have advanced grammar this year, I've started learning such this stuff; however, when I was following other channels teach the same lessons as you do, it wasn't enough for me to understand because it didn't go pretty well and way too boring to follow them. All of a sudden, your channel pump out of, then I decided to follow them ( I was doubting this channel would be like the rest I've watched them before, but it wasn't') I enjoyed it so much and started watching these videos without getting bored. I have a thing to tell you is YOU ARE AN AMAZING AND TALENTED TEACHER; I hope you go further in the future and with the best of luck for you in your job life. Your follower from Morocco.

    "Getting cars in an out" is a present participle phrase that's modifying the adjective "awkward". It is giving information about it. A gerund phrase, on the other hand, always works as a noun in a sentence it does not modify anything. Hope it works!

    @@EnglishWithAshish thank you for your reply but I didn't get it well. what do you mean by a present particile phrase ? It's a little confusing. Is it a reduced adjective or adverb clause?? From your lesson about noun phrease I 've learned that a gerund phrase,which a group of phrase starting with ing- and could modify a noun that comes before it while now you're saying it doesn't modify anything I'm sorry for having asked you many qustions but I couldn't figure it out . It would be great if you cleared out for me. Thank you

  • @EnglishWithAshish

    @EnglishWithAshish

    Hey, Haider! A noun phrase does not work as a modifier; it works as a noun, and a noun does not modify anything. When it works as a noun in a sentence, it can be a subject of a sentence, an object of the sentence, and a subject complement. • (Helping the poor) is a noble work. (Subject) • I love (teaching English). (Object of the verb "love") • We are tired of (working in this company). (Object of the preposition "OF") • His dream is (becoming a pilot). (Subject complement) The noun phrases in the above examples are working as a noun only; these are not modify anything. Present participle phrase : it is a group of words that starts with an ING form of a verb and gives information about a noun, modifies it. • The guy (talking to my mom) is my best friend. Explanation: "talking to my mum" is a present participle that's starting with the present participle "talking" and giving information about the noun "guy". Which guy? who's talking with my mum. More examples:- • Look at the kids (sleeping under the bridge). (Modifying the noun "kids") • People (fighting with the police) are theives. (Modifying the noun "people") A participle phrase is nothing but a reduced relative clause. • Look at the kids (who are sleeping under the bridge). • People (who are fighting with the police) are theives. Watch this lesson on participle phrases for better understanding: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gYOOu6yaZbXde5s.html Hope the explanation helps, brother!

    Love is a verb that takes an object. You can love someone or something. Here, the object of the verb love is the action (gerund) eating. Nobody's eating. Eating is a gerund, which works as a noun in a sentence.

  • @EnglishWithAshish

    @EnglishWithAshish

    4 жыл бұрын

    "Eating" here is a gerund. A gerund works as a noun in a sentence, whereas a participle works as an adjective. Please go through these examples: • Living in Singapore is very costly. • The guy living in Singapore is my brother. In the first example, "living' is working as the subject (noun) in the sentence and henceforth is a gerund. But in the second example, it is modifying the noun "guy" and, therefore, it is a participle. Hope this helps! 😊
