Yes, there's a mistake out there. It should be "Lunch is eaten". It would be "Lunch was eaten" if that was a past simple sentence "I ate lunch''. Don't worry I am also an English teacher.

I noticed something and I just liked to say it if I'm right .. There were this sentence (I eat lunch) the sentence is present simple so when u change it to passive u should say: ( lunch is eaten) But u changed it to past like ( lunch WAS eaten ) in case if u noticed it But even though u r the best I love ur way of teaching keep working ❤

Absolutely: "to be" should be in the present simple because the main verb of the sentence is in the simple present. ACTIVE: I EAT LUNCH ==> PASSIVE VOICE: LUNCH IS EATEN.

@aleza03 NO, not the noun, the verb must always been p.p. Noun = person/place/thing/ Verb = action word!

@silverwaterz you can say hairs were cut. But when we talk about getting a haircut, we say use hair as a non-count noun

(Past progressive) passive: Lunch was being eaten.Here's another one: active: I am eating lunch. Passive: lunch is being eaten.Or with "are": Active: They are eating sandwiches. U r answer is correct but u used the article "the" unnecessarily before "lunch" while converting your sentence to the passive voice. U better have not used that. It would be a more academic conversion.

Saying "is" suggests that the hair is being cut right now but the action has already happened so it is past tense. So, "My hair is being cut." is present tense, and, "My hair was cut." is past tense. Does that help at all?

I think it is a mistake. I ATE lunch changes into Lunch WAS eaten by me. I EAT lunch should change into Lunch IS eaten by me. But that's just my opinion

Another wise reply below suggests that "is" would imply a time of action. But "was" is a past action that is finished and so is no longer an action, and therefore it is passive.

"was" should be "is"

She speak about passive. The passive implies NO ACTION. So "lunch is eaten" means that the lunch is eaten at this specific moment (right now) which is ACTION. "Is" is present and "was" is past. When you say "lunch was eaten" means that the action was finished somewhere in the past, and therefore the sentence is a passive one because right now is no action involved. I hope i made myself clear :)

I like the very positive and friendly atmosphere in this video. I like the clear handwriting. Still I am not sure about the use of the grammatical terms in here. I use subject, predicate and object instead.

Teachers should not start a lesson with things like "this is difficult" or " this is hard" because this might turn students off and get in the way of their learning. Students need motivation and encouragement rather than cold water.
