Usage of definite articles is incorrect over here. If you are saying that horses run fast generally and dogs are generally faithful animals, then you should use the "general" term 'a' or 'an', instead of 'the' (which is used for specifics). Corrected versions would be "A horse runs fast", and "A dog is a faithful animal". When you put 'the', you are saying that a particular horse runs fast, or a particular dog is faithful.

Here Fast is an adjective or adverb ...
