English Electric Wash & Rinse Wringer Washing Machine

Presenting the English Electric Wash & Rinse Wringer Washing Machine, the washtub holds 10lbs of laundry and uses a large agitator with back & forth action to move the clothes through the water . The washtub has a powerful 3kw heater to heat the water from cold if required. Cottons take up to 12 minutes , synthetics & delicates between 2 and 4 minutes. Once washed you pass the clothes through the adjustable wringer and one pass is usually all that needed to extract the water. The water is collected on the wringer plates and directed back into the washtub or into the sink for rinsing.
Rinsing in the English Electric is simple, wash and wring all your clothes and leave on your draining board, then empty the washtub and re-fill with clean cold water, leave the pipe filling slowly and switch on the pump. Water is constantly entering the washtub and emptying at the same time, direct the flow of water at your tap to keep the same level of water in the washtub, then simply add clothes and when clear of soapy suds pass them through the wringer for a final time. The wringer is made by ACME a traditional Scottish manufacturer of household appliances and is fully adjustable from the thinest tea towel to the thickest woollen blamket.

They certainly did, many still around on ebay and local sales. English Electric machines where made of heavy metal and enamel coated which helped.

Very nice wringer there. Also nice to see some top-loading agitator automatics that the U.K. had at one time. Our cousins had some interesting machines that side of the Atlantic for sure.

Hello Pat its a great wringer machine, the backbone of many British kitchens in the day , the Hotpoint UK top loader was scaled on the GE Filterflow , smaller size with heater and 1050 rpm spin etc ,

My mum’s first washing machine was very similar to that one. I remember the little door in the side with the wringer in. She had the English Electric liberator tumble dryer too. English Electric also made the Lightning aircraft and the Deltic locomotive. Quite a company!

The English Electric Company made many household appliances from mixers to Cookers, along with all the laundry appliances, next video is the Liberator Twintub. that morphed into the Hotpoint we know and love today.

I have been known to drrol on about how to and best ways of filming but that was only because I had the best teachers when I did the film shoot with Adam Hart Davis for "Just Another Day, the crew loved the stuff so much they kept on filming for themselves and taught me a lot. That sounds like a good holiday for me ha ha, filming your warehouse appliances lol.
