Oh, m' gosh!! At Goodwill, I just found an 8 sided platter like that one in the blue & white marked "Alleghany" with the very same kind of scenery & marking on the underside. I don't want to say how much I paid for it. It was priced so low. Now I realize how much it's worth!! I think the thought process you went through to arrive at your destination and adjustments along the way would make for a very good video. I am also struck by the care you take when you do just about anything…even making something as simple as muffins. My sense is everything you do has a sense of love, reverence and devotion. I think that’s why I watch your old videos over and over just to see love in motion.

​@StoneCottageHome if possible, could you discuss what you and Matt decided to keep and what you could let go? Sometimes I see videos, and people are just playing music and happily throwing items in boxes to donate but they never explain why they decide to keep or donate items. I also like to see how ones organize kitchens for ease of cooking and cleanup because all of us have to do those things multiple times a day so it's important to organize our things to make that enjoyable

Hi Rachel, I love your home and your style. I wish I had a home that I could make English Country I don't at this time. I believe your decor should match the style of the home . I have touches around, and I have created a little bit of an English style bedroom, but the home style puts limits on me. I did create a gallery wall thanks to your help. My dream is to collect blue and white china but I have no where to store it and my husband says I have too much already LOL. I also love the Collie on your bookshelf. As a Collie owner and lover it's nice to see that piece and would LOVE to have one. Love your channel you have taught me so much. Thank you!

They were a splurge but so so beautiful . I’ve saved many of them. Recently I read a book from the library called, Sacred Spaces by Carley Summers. The story of the author is very inspiring. Each home showcased is a journey, telling the story of how the owner created this sanctuary. I thought of you and wanted to share it. The photography is amazing. I’ve never seen a home decor book that explains how much a home means to those of us whose lives sometimes take an unexpected turn. Now I know why I need my home to be a haven. My husband is a watercolor artist and he does home portraits for $200 plus $15 shipping. He is amazing. We have pictures of homes we have lived in here in our house, along with churches and my garden. I wish I could attach some here for you to see his beautiful artwork but if you were interested, you can certainly put your reply here and I will personally text you some of his art. It’s such a personal touch. We live in Atlanta, but have visited Mockingbird Manor in Oklahoma City and found it to be absolutely one of the best antique shops I’ve ever been in. Yes! The whole reason we found this shop was word-of-mouth about the treasure trove of blue & white!

Loved the store and really appreciate you moving the camera slowly so we can get a good look around, too! Love the silver (plated? or even a type of pewter?) sugar and creamer! Your house is so fun to visit! I do think you should experiment with picking up a few things at that store and putting them in your Etsy shop! Also - the inside of your kitchen cabinet is so neat and pretty .... you could think about removing the doors and having open shelves!

So very funny that you posted this type of video today. I had a dear friend visit my home yesterday for the first time. She is a little more than 20 years younger than my 68. She gave me a lovely compliment by stating that my home was "beautiful" and "looked like a homey museum". Coming from a much younger generation with an admiration point of view made me smile!!! I have always leaned towards English Country Cottage. Thank you for always giving me new ideas to keep my creativity current! ❤❤❤❤

I really enjoyed your video. I loved the way you explained about layering. I need to learn more about that. As I was watching I realized why layering was so important because if done right you can see and enjoy every piece. I am also learning from you to use things in nontraditional ways. Another thing I would like to learn more about if you have time to do a video is editing pieces that need to move on. Also I am having fun creating vignettes ie: birds, ducks and bird houses in groupings. I would love to learn more from you about how you make decisions about what goes together. @@StoneCottageHome Hi Rachel! Thank you for your response and for your thoughtful question. I had to think about this a little bit. 🤔☺ I have a very small kitchen. Last year, we also did some upgrades, and in the process I let go of some things and tried to create better organization. We have a small pantry closet, and due to a lack of closets and storage space, we use this area for cleaning supplies, paper products and other household odds and ends. Although it works, and is an improvement, it still looks cluttered to me. Maybe it’s the small space? Maybe I still have too much stuff? I use an over the door organizer to help. Plus, how to store things like paper plates and occasionally used things that I still need to access. Do you have a more efficient way to store baking pans and bowls than just putting them in a cabinet, lol? 😉 I hope this makes sense…I just find you especially creative in working with what you have. 😊 I would love to hear/see your perspective on organizing! I've never thought of using baskets in the refrigerator! Does moisture become a problem? 🤔 I guess you can regularly wipe them out... that antique store though 😍

Hello, there & good question! I've never had a problem with moisture on the baskets. The green basket has held eggs in the fridge for the last twelve years. Yes, that antique shop... I'll be back!

Staffordshire figurines cost far more in my neck of the woods! You would do well to get yours at that shop.

Good evening! What a sweet comment! I've had an interest in interior design since I was about 7 or 8 years old. For the most part, I've studied the homes of others, read books (watched old films for the set and not the storyline 😉), and studied images online. For "formal" learning, I completed a two week interior design class in Dallas, Texas, many years ago. In the last two years, I've completed three British design courses on Create Academy. I'm thrilled to know you are enjoying and learning from our channel!
