Groundsmen did a great job. One of the worlds best and favorite wickets for both bat and ball. A true result pitch. Brilliant they were able to still produce a good wicket after such a horrible preparation with weather. Conditions changed slightly as the game went, but it didnt deteriorate. Started a bit green the became good for batting. Would have taken spin on Day 5. True bounce all the way thru.

Best pitch in Australia tbh.. always been amazing. Always seems to offer something for the bowlers on the first day and normally day 2/3 are the best for batting at the Gabba but something always there for bowlers.. even for both spin and pace. It's always been a beauty!

it’s the same thing at optus recently, the pitches have been very fair for both batsmen and bowlers. it’s because both stadiums aren’t guaranteed a test like sydney or melbourne are, so they actually need to put effort into making the pitch not a road or a dustbowl.

I still remember lyon took his 399th wicket of sundar back in 2021 Jan 19 in bgt , since his 399 th it has been long watining for himself and his cricket fans all around the world.Finally after nearly 11 months he took his 400 test wicket and his wickets tally is now 403 Wkts

These days Starc is only tipping the stumps in search of yorkrs and get expensive. He has speed inbuilt, only he should focus on length and variation like short pitch,bouncer,slower, and hitting the deck hard like cummins

I remember in earlier days Indian batting lineup used to heavily rely on Tendulkar. Present day English batting lineup looks somewhat similar. While India-Eng series was going on, we knew that we had to take Root and the rest of the batsmen would get demoralized and wouldn't offer much of a resistance. Unless other English batsmen rise to the occasion, this is going to be a whitewash.

@@abhieditzzzz8214 Hi Abhi. I am not comparing 2 eras. I clearly mentioned that people generally tend to bring in such comparisons. In my opinion, today's cricket is completely different to what mine or the older generations grew up with. While I blame T20 to spoil the test format, I thoroughly admire the abilities of a modern cricketer to evolve between the 3 formats. With regards to Stokes, I do believe he should bat at no. 4 to allow himself time to construct an innings and bat longer. In last 3-4 years England seem to fit in average all rounders in their test team. Players like Bairstow, Moeen, Butler (although he is taking tests seriously now) may play one good innings here and there, but longetivity is what matters in test cricket. This definitely puts pressure on Stokes and Root and is affecting their game.

My abiding memory of this test was stepping out for 35 minutes to run an errand and miss the entire collapse and then have to somehow fill the rest of my Saturday.

How many times we have seen collapses on next day, when you loose the concentration and focus in the game the next day becomes new and fresh day for batters as well as bowler, today was a great example of this scenario and another example was India vs England 3rd test. Whenever the batsman gets relaxed and bowler becomes anxious the next day becomes the parity for batting team as they loose all the control over the game and they forget that this is a new day and they have to leave everything behind what has happened yesterday is past and now the game is all about patience

Great allround team effort for the aussies. Its a great side on paper ad they performed well on field. really like the look of the england side too. Still would have like to see broad in the side, even if i dont like him. 4 string pace attack was needed at the gabba.

They are interested because it's the most historic prize in cricket and the most important to Australian and English fans. It's also been a lot more even over the last decade.

After your comment I just checked the stats, to my surprise England's record is way better than what I thought; they're neck to neck with Australia. If they win this series they'll literally be equal on no. of series win. I wish them luck and hope they play better cricket

@@jacksoon2384 it has been one sided in the past but that's only usually for 10 years and then that generation of players retire and it changes again. Pretty much every test team got beaten by Australia between 1995 and 2005, like the West Indies in the 80s.

@@jacksoon2384 also, I was answering the point you were making. The reason people are still interested is because they care more about winning the ashes than any other series.

This game was Aussies even before it started. They started the series by playing the first match in their Fortress. This gave then extra confidence and taking a lead in the first match is all they needed
