As I was saying to you last week. The issue here is not the players, it's Southgate. And has been for quite some time. The Netherlands isn't guaranteed yet. There's a couple of permutations that could happen with tonight's fixtures. Could be Belgium or even Georgia! That would be the most favorable of the three.

Why are the Irish contributors so poor.The woman talks about "Brllliant players" which shows how "Premiership " centric her view of football is.These players are not brilliant,they do well in teams where they play with other players from different countries.Haman as a contributor is head and shoulders above this lot.Then of course he is a German, and Germans have won things in international football.

Not playing Gordon is a mystery. Muscular, quick, goes on tye outside, direct - exactly what we've missed on the left.

Congratulations to Slovenia 👏👏. Bottom line is England are in the playoffs with a handy draw as usual. They'll probably reach the semifinals or even win the thing outright.

​@@TBrl8They are slow and negative but they're not hard to score against. They've played some of the worst teams in the tournament and all have had their chances. No team is hard to score against, there is no man marking, very little pressure and the quality of defenders is poor. Lucky for them the quality of attacking players has dropped too.

@@TBrl8 You're asking the wrong question, unless you're just trying to make yourself feel better. You don't pat yourself on the back for not conceding goals against poor opposition. You can't have it both ways, you're either one of the best teams in the world and will be judged based on that or you're trash and deserve a pat on the back for the most basic of things. Someone that doesn't know football looks at stats and says well done, someone that does know football looks at the defence during play and says well done sarcastically.

I think Saka would rather play LWB than not play, so I'm either dropping him or putting him at LWB, go to a back 3 with Walker as the RCB, drop Bellingham deeper, put Foden central, Gordon on the left, and now you have a partnership of Gordon and Saka.

Yes or even stick with 4-3-3 (no way is Southgate going 3-5-2 now) and use Rice/Bham at the base, Foden or Palmer 10, Gordon left wing, Saka or Palmer right wing. The other conversation is Kane - he really isn't right, and Watkins should have some time. Finally Bham has been really poor the last 2 games. If that continues then Mainoo or Wharton instead alongside Rice.

Bellingham can't pass to save his life. Southgate doesn't have the balls to drop him. There is no pace in that team either. Rashford and Sterling should have been there.

The concerning thing about all of this is everyone can see what the issues are, fans and pundits alike, but the Manager seems unwilling to address them (other than who plays next to Rice). His changes during the game are improving, but he needs to get it right from the start and that means addressing the Foden/Bellingham question NOW, getting a left footer on the left side in Gordon to start with. Our left side is a mess and its been a massive mistake not to bring a fit left back. Who knew?

Trent “didn’t work” because he had no forward runners to aim for. In his five minutes he had a long shot just over the bar. You need to be doing that, especially with that ball. Because it tells the opposition that they can’t just sit back safely.

The england players (who played) and the manager should pay back all the tickets to the england fans that were unlucky to be in that stadium. They were there for footbal, not for passing the ball around pointlessly for 90 minutes. Hell, i watched this game from the comforts of my own home and think i'm owed a refund. The only reason i kept watching is that i kept hoping that somehow by some miracle the slovenians would score. I know, they didn't deserve it, but it wasn't their fault that england was this crap. Not gonna be watching any more england games from now on as a matter of principle. Not even if they were to get to the finals. Then again, I doubt they'll get past the next stage, so hurray for that.

A player who can't use both feet shouldn't be in an international side. Of course a player can have a preferred foot but not be useless on the other. The English team is unbalanced and therefore dysfunctional. I don't believe these players are that good. All the Spanish players can pass the ball and keep possession. The Brits have no muscle in midfield like a Ronnie Whelan, Roy Keane or Souness. And they are whingers too which is a sign of being a loser. No balance, no bottle and no boot.
