Its a Low pass filter. Basically much the high frequency sound is filtered out leaving the lower bass sound behind. I think it's especially cool because it's quite accurate to our experience of sound underwater and the physics of it all. Great editing indeed.

Matt, the center of lift must be slightly behind the center of mass! This is the main rule of airplanes. Otherwise, plane becomes unstable and will flip backwards of forwards. All you have to do is move wings a bit back, or delete some wingage in front. Also applies to vertical stabs (if it flips sideways). Also applies to KSP.
Can you try building a fully controllable Flying Bridge

A plane, inside what briefly looked like Vader’s TIE fighter but turned into a blob (with the tail fin of the small plane clearly stuck to the roof so it wouldn’t detach!), inside a huge box with token wings stuck to it that couldn’t fly and so technically wasn’t a plane… Now do this in KSP
Nice video, short but entertaining! It was actually you that inspired me to play Trailmakers in the first place! I love playing Trailmakers, and have a few pointers to help with future videos :) - If you hold CTRL and double-click a block, it will select all blocks of that type - Thrusters that are inside of a vehicle will still provide thrust - You only need a small amount of detachable blocks set to "make scrap" (like one per plane) - If there are blocks holding things together, like the tail of your smallest plane connected to the blobfish or the thrusters holding the two halves of the blobfish together, detachable blocks will basically do nothing - You can use logic blocks (the "OR" block is my go-to) to give parts multiple commands; for instance, your wing servos can be both roll (a/d) and pitch (s/w). Assign one set of commands to the logic block and the other to the servo itself. - Take a look at the workshop for some crazy builds! Hope that helps! ---Sintel

Eve really needs to read this, I play trailmakers too and it is very painful to watch Matt build planes
I think you need to change the settings on the first detachable blocks you put down and change them to make scrap, then it might scrap the whole second plane.
The reason why the small rocket didn’t separate from the medium rocket in the first place was because the tail fin was attached to the roof, also if you turn on advanced controls on the configurator, there is a setting to destroy the thing your detaching.
Everytime I hear Matt say “that looks like a plane” in a video, the more convinced I am that he has never actually seen a plane.
the middle plane was good, might've set the engines at the rear up on one of the detachable blocks and set some rockets that fire when you triggered the release
the first and second layers are pretty good planes. the third layer is a box.

@JustIn-sr1xe

I think they'd need to upgrade the parts count for that to happen.
@Luziferne
Жыл бұрын
@@JustIn-sr1xe There are "tricks" that could make even the small plane supersonic. Uses the detachable block too. Just build it that you sort of "cover" all aerodynamic arrows with parts that are only connected by a detachable block or two and drop the cover pieces before you start. the physics engine calculate the aerodynamics only on loading the vehicle in/exit build mode. And if you drop the parts the aerodynamics are "attached" to, those aerodynamics drop with those parts. Instant no-drag vehicle
Love the change of his voice when underwater, nice touch editor 👍

Yeah, I love that touch in Kevin's videos, it's nice to see it here as well.
the tiny plane is adorable, needs a wheel on the tail though. its like a tiny shark plane.
i think the engines were keeping the second plane together even though you put detachable pieces all around except on the engines, that's why the small plane always got stuck.
RCE you were trapped because the wings of the little plane were sitting on a ledge, if that wasn't there it should probably drop out of the bottom. The self destruct was pretty cool looking though!
@D3X1K_AXYZ

the back end was also holding the hall together
The issue you had with plane 2 not dismantling is because the cassis was still connected to the tail, so both sides where still connected. Love your videos!
2:57 Hi, so the reason your plane is sliding away is because the skis are coded in a way that they slide on icy surfaces. The aircraft carrier isn’t made of anything so the game counts it as everything(so also icy). The weight of the plane at the back is forcing it to slide to that way.
i love how you muffle the audio when you are under water

Matt. When it comes to aircraft, you should just make bridges from them. 😄
To have better control of a plane's axis, you need to reduce the speed at which the wings move when changing direction. A gyroscope can help keep your plane from spinning too much when making turns.
you should consider playing a game called "brick rigs" basically a lego building sandbox with a ton of mods. really fun
As a experienced TM player i can say its enjoyable and painful to watch at the same time, good work! Also 9:52 you can holnd ctrl and double tap to select all the same type of a part.
i think if he got the rockets to separate on the second plane, then the two sides would split cleanly and the inner first plane could just pop out and not have to maneuver out of it. peace, love, and planes.
Day 110:Dear Matt, I have a very good video idea Gather all your editors and make them all have a fight on like a PvP game (e.g. Minecraft,Rust,Ect,ect...) And see who is the best editor and is worthy of the rank of a classified engineering. From me.

Wonder how good Matt could build on SimplePlanes, just go crazy with it
I like it when Matt decides to make a silly idea.
RCE in trail makers: makes something that looks nothing like a plane, flys perfectly RCE in ksp: makes a realistic looking plane, can’t even get off the runway straight
The fact this man hasn't played space engineers astounds me
I learned everything I know about aerodynamic engineering from Scott Manley. I recommend looking through his old videos to get a good handle on this.
definitely going to need to see boatception too. a small sub in a bigger sub thats also in a boat.
you should get the high seas expansion, its very fun and adds alot of new pieces and things to mess with
The second plane gives me Thunderbirds flashbacks
I think you needed a few more detachable blocks at the back of the middle plane, either splitting the thrusters into 2 sections or separating them from the fuselage, to make it break apart better.
That small plane is so cool
Nice! Really lovely done :D One suggestion would be to have the detatchable block in the middle of the engines of the "middle" plane too, to make it seperate in 2 halves
Love the underwater muffing! Great editing!

There was a fourth plane, but you couldn't see that one without 4 dimensional glasses. 'o.O
Your center of gravity is what has a major impact on stability. With a rear CG the front of the plane will want to rise and stall as well as making the plane very unstable. You want a central but slightly forward CG for stability. Too far forward though and you won't be able to pull up. Just remember rear CG unstable and hard to control but very maneuverable, Forward CG more stable but less maneuverable (definitely worth it).
I knew this would be interesting once he started building the tail of the first aircraft.
@Real Civil Engineer , I've been watching some of "Mustard's" and "Dark Skies" youtube channels on old airplane designs made during ww1 - ww2 and you should def try recreating some of them: XB-70 Fastest Bomber of it's time (M) Flying Wings - The future of flying from back then (M) XC-120 Packplane - A powerful cargo aircraft with a detachable cargo compartment (DS)
Beautiful video
Pretty sure that it needs to fly at some point to be called a plane, so the box with wings falls a bit short. And you should have mounted plane #2's rockets on explody bolts as well, and I think that would have helped the mini-plane escape easier.
It is always funny watching a civil engineer trying to make something that moves.
i love the trail maker videos matt
Great video Matt. I think the blob fish plane would break apart better if the engines weren't holding the side pieces together.
Mini plane? Top notch. Med plane? Alright. Pretty good. Big plane? That's just a box.
A plane in a "plane" in a ""plane"". Definetly something an Architect would come up with.
Real aerospace engineer is about to throw a fit
I’m sure someones already pointed it out. But instead of individually changing configurations of blocks. You can hold down the button to select it to select all of that block and change them all in one go :)
That was so cool!
It's amazing that the smallest plane is actually by far the best and most plane-y
Honestly my favourite KZreadr right now
The small plane is really good, but the big one.... lets say you channeled your inner architect for that one :p
It didn't even detach because it needs the detachment block to be the only attachment point. The whole thing was alternatively attached to the tail, so it didn't matter at all, and nothing happened.
I absolutely adore the editing style
I would like to request more of this, what a cool game
Could add more destructible detachment points between the boosters in the back of the second plane [would cause complete separation] and maybe interior engines to the insides to force the hull pieces outward just like in KSP!
Hi love your videos they make my day every time I watch them Thank you
I appreciate the Kevin-like underwater talking effect.
Hey matt, seems like your engines were keeping your second plane from splitting apart. The detachable blocked just detached from eachother but the shell was still held together
I love seeing mirror mode being used!
Love trailmakers content
i love how the small plane is kinda controllable, the medium is decently controllable then the big one just isnt controllable.
Hope you're having a fun vacation! Be safe while snowboarding!
The top of the tailfin of the small plane was connected to the inside of the roof of the blobfish. Also, you should make a boat inside of a car inside of a plane! That or some combination of the three
The reason your plans are so unstable is because the center of mass is so far back. the farther back it is the more maneuverable/unstable it is. Most planes are nose heavy
It's endlessly amusing that your second plane is basically Thunderbird 2.
that first plane needs to be a mount in an mmo lol. i loved how the tail moved in flight.
keep up the good work always love watching ur vids
I love the under water sound effects
I think if the middle plane had those detachable pieces where the wings connect its break apart more so.. but I like the idea of it being a airplane hanger that happens to be able to fly aswell.
5 minutes in, "it'sstarting to look plane-ish" - Instantly adds loads of balls to the front, Just like every well known aeroplane.
Matt's brain FASCINATES me.
The first and second planes were pretty cool, very well done. Parts cap screwed you on the third plane, but you made it work. Great video, overall.
The reason the second plane wouldn't fly right is because of how short it is. If you extend the length of the aircraft and added more space between the horizontal stabilizers and the main wings it will be more stable
How to drop the tiny plane better: remove the bottom blocks of the middle plane that catch the tiny plane. How to make the biggest """"plane"""" take off in a more stable way: move every thruster down to meet the wings.

This Engineer is a genius!
The pain of having lots of hours in this game and watching him stumble through everything and then the surprise when it eventually working
just a quick tip, theres a toggleable "turn to scrap" option on the detachable blocks that makes any block attached to them (not including anythign connected to what youre in) destroy itself completely after detaching the planes were all awesome though. especially the last one that was definitely a plane.
@andrewthorpe3377
Жыл бұрын
He used that toggle, but something (I think maybe the size and/or engines? but idk) prevented the middle shell from scrapping completely.
You can rotate parts in Trailmakers way easier, by just holding down alt and then pressing WASD
This game feels like a creative mod of TerraTech
you should try playing terra tech, i think you'd really enjoy it, it's on steam for $18 at the moment and would be a blast for an engineer such as yourself
