One of my favorite memories with him was when he and my mom came home from a shopping trip and he brought home a set of chrome traction bars for it and he couldn't wait to put them on MY car. My Dad died in 1991, and I don't forget the good moments with him. You never do.
You are a great Dad Derek! This takes me back to my Dad doing the same thing with me 50 years ago. We were always wrenching on cars, motorcycles, lawnmowers, chainsaws……..plus he taught me building, electrical, plumbing, masonry when I was Bentleys age. He built a garage and an addition on our house and I was his gopher, mason tender and wire puller and pipe cutter. He always took me fishing, taught me to shoot and hunt. He is now in a wheelchair in a nursing home which breaks my heart. We were still hunting together 12 years ago. Watching you and Bentley work on this truck made my eyes well up thinking about days past with my Dad. Enjoy every moment with those boys Derek ( in which you are without a doubt) because in and instant I went from a 12 year old kid to a 60 year old man. Time is fleeting the older you get the quicker it goes. Those boys are going to be good men soon enough and you will be wrenching with your grand children soon. Enjoy the cruise with your wonderful family. God Bless!

Great father son bonding time!! I lost my father April 2021. We used to work on cars together all the time...he wasn't as nice or patient as Derek is, but him teaching me auto repair has made me a lot of money so far in my lifetime and I've been able to help a lot of people in the meantime. Last year I acquired my father's big block 1967 Cougar, the car he started teaching me auto repair on. I've been tinkering on it since trying to get it back on the road after 10 years of sitting idle. I found out in March of this year that I have a 25 year old son I didn't know I had, he's putting himself through school to becoming an ASE certified mechanic....he even named his son, my grandson, Axel! Can't wait to teach him what I know about cars. Thanks for reminding me of what it was like with dad!
Derek this is what fatherhood is all about! Bentley will have not only a truck to tool around in but the most important thing will be the memories made with Dad! Fantastic!

Derek, it would be awesome to see the father son duo continue on this project as you both go through the rebuild process on this engine.
I would recommend to rebuild every time. 1) I'm the one rebuilding. I have confidence in my own work. 2) Commonly its cheaper to rebuild it yourself instead of buying a crate. 3) The boys would never forget. I am 48 years old and to this day I remember rebuilding a Ford 390 V8 with my Dad when I was 13.

I’ll never forget my Father teaching me how to drive his ‘70 Chevy C10 three on the tree at 13 years old. One of the most important things I ever learned. Second most important was him showing me how to swap my 1st Engine at 16.
Derek like I said before, when the world is coming down around me, after I pray, your show is my peace. Your personality, your genuineness, your love for old skools. You are what the world used to be; Great. Thanks Mr. Derek.
Bentley is "daddy's little buddy" and he probably already knows more about cars than I've learned in my 76 years. I like this episode very much already.
Great to see a father pass the torch to his sons! I have 2, 33 yr old "twin" grown sons that I did the same! and are still building together to this day! and even though I have busted knuckle's, and some say a mean look. it always surprises people that I still hug and tell my boys I love them! cause that's what a good- "great" father does! My sons are passing the torch to my grandsons! and are the same with them! Keep GOD and family close and never stop telling thoughts you love, You LOVE THEM! GREAT video keep them coming!
Man, what an awesome video. The relationship with your kids is worthy of so much praise and recognition. My goodness, if i had a truck like that in high school there's no telling what sort of shenanigans i would've gotten into 😂
Sounds good. Awesome project. Thank you for sharing this with us.
It's amazing how wonderful things can be, and how children can be this self-sufficient at 11 years old when they aren't given a screen and ignored. Thank you for these videos :)
Your son luckiest kid in the world to have a dad like you
The boy having some sweat equity in the truck too is icing on the cake. You could see how pumped he is about that truck. That's some great dadding, there, Dad.
This is channel shows there is still good people in this world..And you are one of them..Keep on keeping on.
With Little Grip Garage as a guest star its always a great episode.
Sir, you are a credit to what a father is supposed to do. I love the times that the kids are involved, especially Bentley. I too a lot of years ago involved my son's in helping and teaching them the ins and outs of auto work. Your videos warm my heart, and I love your family involvement. God bless you all
Love watching you get the old cars running
your son pulling away the first time was heartwarming!
