Great tutorial Donyboy. I've got a 55 and i'm considering putting a piston and ring. It's amazing how much wood it's cut. It's 17 yrs old and still going strong. Thanks very much for sharing your expertise. Great channel.

Thanks for the series on this engine rebuild, it was a great help! I just rebuilt a Poulan 2150 LE predator, I replaced the piston and rings but instead of replacing the cylinder I bore out the cylinder with a break cylinder bore. I followed your sequence of taking apart and putting the saw back together. The saw started right up. Thanks for the post and keep them coming!

Used this set of videos to rebuild an old 51 and the process was very simple using the videos. Good attention to detail and shown on camera very well. I used an NWP brand piston kit from Bailey's online and have probably 10 tanks of gas on it and it has been fine so far.

Very well assembled !!!! I was however, taught to run whatever I assemble as a motor first but that was with power tools,I do that with lawn equipment as well, when working in a business I had to do it that because it saves time pulling all that stuff off if a carby was plugged up with crap or something. When I did up a Stihl hedge trimmer, I fit the cutting blade last after testing it as a motor, the compression was 105 PSI with the new cylinder kit installed & 124 PSI when run in. That's because the cylinder & rings aren't perfectly round until the rings have bedded into the cylinder.

thanks for the video, I have just finished installing new piston & rings & cylinder on my BlueMax chainsaw. When I tried to start it up, I noticed it make loud metallic clank sounds when I pulled the starter. It did start, but only briefly. I called it quits for the day, and am hoping to get it running tomorrow. As in your video, I made certain the piston moved smoothly by turning the flywheel before re- assembling the saw, but I used 3 in 1 oil to lube it, as it was handy. Any ideas on the clanks? Or what should my next steps be? I appreciate your help, I'd not know what to do with my chainsaw otherwise. -Peter

you're welcome
thanks for the video, I have just finished installing new piston & rings & cylinder on my BlueMax chainsaw. -Peter
Thankyou Donyboy!
You make great videos, Dony. My favourites are the chain saw videos of yours. Luckily I can do some firewood in the near future as the snow is melting rapidly... :~)
hi don, realy realy good, the other video to, lear'nt a lot here videos are good and clear and voice clear to. many thanks, lazy joe
Excellent tutorial...
Hi Dony, Thanks for sharing your informative videos. Do you suggest replacing the carb if there may have been bad gas as the cause for cyllinder scoring? Going to try and replace piston and cyllinder on a husky 372xp...first attempt. Best, Trevor
best vids -- great job
Hey Don,,, Nice work,,, saws like new compression wise. Saw you didn't do anything else, guess at ran till it seized? Great job.
great video series
Sounds very strong. Great Job i really enjoy these rebuild videos, btw you should rename the video Engine Rebuild On Husqvarna 55/51 Chainsaw. because I think that they have the same crankcase and one is 2 ccs bigger
Thanks for making this possible 🎉🎉😊
@TDHReviews i have one lined up for a stihl 026
After watching these videos I'm tempted to buy an old Husky 55 just to do a rebuild.
awesome video. How is the saw doing now? Do you still recommend the China made heads?
great vid thanks I see you are bundled up, how cold was it?
Hey donyboy I was wondering if you ever come across a husqvarna 40? If you have can you show a video of how the throttle linkage is set up?
Great video! Are you a professional mechanic or do it yourself guy. You fix things so well you look like a professional.
I was planning to do a video on this process on my briansmobile1 channel or maybe this one, but why? You did as good and as clear a job as can be done! EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT visuals and narration Donny!

Hi really liked this video!where do you buy your parts from?for all your lawnmower, chainsaw etc????
Don I have a Chinese 20" saw that says to run a mix of 25: 1 & I can't find out if that's what the company requires seems like it would be ok for the break in what do you think ?
@JimiKiwi thanks for watching and greetings from Canada
Great video, any follow up on how well the Chinese parts are holding up?
Hello Donyboy! Do you have a video shows how you tune these carburetors.. meaning so that it's getting enough fuel, and may last a bit until it scored again..would be great if you have a link, sir..
sort of yes, it does force air in the intake
Great video! What was that high pitched whining noise when it's running?
Fantastic sir. Thank you. I have a Husqvarna 50, ... should not be too much different :)
I am currently rebuilding my stihl ms660 with a new big bore kit when I go to start it for the first time should I adjust the carb settings or leave them at the stock settings
By chance do you have this vid anywhere that it can be downloaded? Like an AVI? I was able to dl #2 but 1 & 3 can't be. Settings seem to be turned off. Want to take my computer out to shop during rebuild to help prevent mistakes but no signal there so need to download first. Excellent helpful video!
nice shop Dud
Excellent thank you!
