Engine Evolution What Has Changed SBC vs SBE LS based
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Comparing the old style engines like the SBC to the more modern SBE or the LS based engines and other more advanced engines with DOHC like the ford coyote 5.0. How have engines been changing over time with the examples currently in the shop?

Great info on the engine tech
You forgot to comment on the M113K windage haha
After the Mercedes is cylinder is honed they are acid washed to expose the silica.

Any idea what kind of acid is used? Just curious, I knew they used a chemical but never took the time to dig into it. I just know I can't hone it without sending it off to specialist that cost a small fortune. Only other option is sleeve it but again small fortune lol. This ones in pretty good shape just needs rings gapped and better pistons to take more boost and abuse.
Off, content question... I'm interested in the shop door insulation.... where you got it, how much insulation value ... it looks like it has some over lap to keep it from binding when the door goes up and down... and where did you find it?

It's a pre insulated door with a added insulation I did myself. I added 1.5 in foam and a product called reflectex I believe. It's basically bubble wrap with reflective serface. The factory door I believe is r-8 and so is the foam I added is also r-1 so door has a total of r-17 in theory. I think it's realistically closer to r-14 or 15 but it sure works well. On most of the walls I have r-11 batting plus 2in foam. So over r-22, all this is to reduce the electric heat bill along with my solar heater.
I still prefer GM LS / gen V LT engines over the ford coyote. Much more simple design.

I agree simplicity is nice. The coyote has some good benefits but I much prefer the compact size and simplicity of a pushrod engine.
too bad you didn't have an m156 engine to compare.
