    If it is a slipper clutch it won't joult and lock up the rear. If it is a non slipper clutch then you have to blip the throttle and match rpm before downshift. Which I do regardless of slipper clutch as well.

    If u want to do the engine braking and if it's from 2nd gear to the 1st in dominar,, that clunky sound comes up right while doing the engine braking? Can u explain if it's possible from 2nd to 1st?

  • @VijayHansora

    @VijayHansora

    6 жыл бұрын

    Engine braking from 2nd to first is ok provided you are not on higer rpm for D400 it will take it with no issues since we have a slipper clutch but if not done right the gear wear and tear will increase. for 2nd to 1st i always do Rev match and if not on higher rpm then i slowly release and do engine braking or Rev match in case of urgency. From2nd to first is possible but you have to practise.

    Hi Vijay, I just purchased a brand new duke 250. While shifting gears I do hear the normal clanking sound but also get this feeling that the clutch wire is gonna break or snap. Is this something to do with the slipper clutch ?

  • @VijayHansora

    @VijayHansora

    6 жыл бұрын

    It is difficult to say without actually seeing it cuz the gear clunk noise is ok but when you say "the clutch wire gonna break" feeling is something i cant comment much as i am not able to understand and without knowing the fact and putting in slipper clutch in between the discussion may not help. Please elaborate what you mean by cable will break or snap. When you change gear does the clutch have any tension or something which clicks or feels is becoming tight.?

  • @abhaybharadwaj3919

    @abhaybharadwaj3919

    That effect is normal @Alen Fernandes. Slipper clutch comes with a package of something called as "slipper and assist". The small "Kuk kat" kind of a noice what u get near your clutch lever is the feedback of the clutch cable which is connected to your clutch plate actuator !!. Not an issue.

  • @VijayHansora

    @VijayHansora

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Fayis, clutchless shifting is better done in higer RPM for smoother shifts. In lower RPM it can make clunky noise or it wont shift at all and can stall. So clutchless shifting is better and perfect when doing higher rpm when the throttle is off. For e.g You are in 1st gear you start and then take it to 7k rpm and then release the throttle completely and immediately without clutch pull up on 2nd gear and then again go till 7k and then do 3rd and so on. you have a to practice for the same. Clutchless downshift is little difficult and ideally you dont need to do that as normally we want to apply brake and all. In lower rpm again its a disaster to downshift. Although i do it sometimes but not always. The reason is for clutchless downshift you have to be on certain speed and rpm which i cant give in numbers as it is only felt and done on the bike :D.

    Dominar has slipper clutch.Is it required to rev match when you have a slipper clucth though?

  • @VijayHansora

    @VijayHansora

    6 жыл бұрын

    Rev matching with Slipper clutch is more like insurance policy. Even thought we got slipper clutch but still we rev match. Some do love doing Rev match and shift, but with slipper clutch i cant be so much agressive which i do with blipping the throttle on higher speeds. Although debateable that slipper will smoothen the transition but its just cool to rev match. Since all have different way of riding some Riders like me will still do it. Both are doing the same thing but when you are Riding very smooth then you can let the clutch out slowly and have the slipper clutch take care of it. But if you are on track or aggressive rider then there is no harm in doing that extra step to rev match. All in all it depends on Rider and the style or riding. On rev-matching. you're putting the transmission in a state of neutral loading at that point.. much easier for the gears to slide along the splines and for the dogs to mesh. There are many more points for e.g why wear the sub-clutch out if you don't have to? ya.. the slipper is there for the aforementioned reason to control downshift-induced wheel hop and slide but i'm a "don't wear it out" kinda guy.. i've always rev matched and always will. not from a cool factor, but a transmission longevity factor. Hope this helps.

    I have Mt 15 and I use clutch only for shifts in 1st and 2nd.. then after i blip everytime to upshift and in case of downshift I use rear brake (sometimes front too ) and blip to downshift i.e I match speed and gear 40-50 4th gear 25-40 3rd and less than that 2nd .is it ok if I use rear brake and blip to slow down ?? It will be smooth but I'm worried about clutch plates .... Plzzz respond 🙂

  • @VijayHansora

    @VijayHansora

    4 жыл бұрын

    See upshifts are something which you can do without much worries once you master the art of blipping but when it comes to downshift using blip along with brakes it will always have some effect since the bike is trying to slow down and there will be press sure on plates compared to upshifting so in simple words do clutchless blip upshifts but avoid downshifts

  • @VijayHansora

    @VijayHansora

    So the point is for engine breaking while downshifting. what you are mentioning is called throttle blipping which i explained as well. But you need to be careful as that increases your stopping distance if not done right. I would ideally do blip and gear down at very high speeds and when stopping is needed in control but fast without damaging the clutch.

    You can start in any gear, but starting your bike at neutral is the best. Starting while in gear keeps the clutch slightly engaged (even though the clutch lever is completely pulled back), which is also the reason why you get slight jolt. Doing it excessively may cause significant damage. Start your bike in neutral as often as possible.

And now she's at 39..but the chain is giving me lot of problems like giving sounds and being lose at one point and tight at the other. And the guys at ktm are saying that it is because of me doing extensive engine braking which i dont. I do rev matching most of the times and thats it. The lube interval is 600 kms once. And these guys are saying that the chain needs to be changed ome more time at about 40k kms... Am i being fooled here? Pls explain.

  • @VijayHansora

    @VijayHansora

    Writing this first post since my accident on 31st july 2019...now in recovery stage. First let me explain a term called :(Run Out) - What Run out means is that the sprocket is worn out on one side of sprocket so what happens is that in one complete rotation of the sprocket there may be a section where the Chain may feel very tight and one place where Chain will be loose. - For some reason in one of the sprocket i had a run out in just few 100's of km and it had a run out. - One way to check is go to any garage and ask him bend the bike on Stand or Put it on paddock stand. Slowly rotate the wheel and check the play of the chain, If there is Run out there will be one part of rotation which will be tight and other rotation will be loose. So there are multiple aspects for your scenario : Either the chain sprocket you got may have some what we call as (Run out) OR is it overtightened causing the sound . The other thing will be the rear wheel shaft alignment where the rear wheel chain side is closer than the opposite side,.
