Keep in mind the six states were constantly at war with each other. The king isn’t wrong about uniting them under one entity to avoid more wars. Believe it or not he was right when he told li to unification was less costly than keeping the status quo.

Why would Jing agree to assasinate King? If you know your lady is happiest with him, why destroy it? If you really loved her, wouldnt you want to see her happy? Even if it is with your enemy? He knows they have a child ..hence, a father to Li er's child but still wants to assasinate?!
