i 100% agree i hate story lines like that BUT not this show - i don't think u watched the whole show/ read the novel, also that girl was his fake gf bc he wanted to like testt if she still had feelings for him (in the years without her he didn't date anyone that his collegues thought he was gay lmaoooo)

i really do like this drama but i think that they should have made xiaoxi a little bit more strong with a bit of personality. she was always so lovestruck and didnt have an ounce of self respect, dignity for herself. she always ran back to jiang chen even when he said so mean things to her and hurt her. i understand that she was just a foolish teenager in love, but here too when she was an adult, she apologized to him without asking what she did wrong. one should never lose themself even when they are in love.

Yes feel like O Hani of playful kiss who had zero self respect.

I actually feel bad for that other couple. They just wanted to have some fun. Jiang Chen made things awkward

I also had 2nd lead syndrome just like in Boys Over Flowers but the heart wants what it wants and it would be unfair in the long run to date someone just because they like you and treat you well if you don’t love them back. :( I tried that before and it ends tragically.

For me, this drama good but I don't really like female characters that clumsy, doing stupid things. I can telorate sometimes cuz yea we don't really realize what we r doing. But being clumsy and stupid and clingy all the time rlly look dumb. Huhu. I will feel regret all day if I doing something stupid

three nilaweera you do realize the actors have to betray the character in a certain way? If the female lead wasn’t as clueless from time to time we would have the tv show over in like 5 episodes. I feel like she did grow slowly throughout the years especially when he came back as a doctor. She wasn’t as giggly and lovestruck like she was in high school

that part was from a different scene where she was actually waiting for taxi after visiting her dad at the hospital. He made the back seat messy so that she had no choice but to do sit in the front seat next to him. He planned this before offering her a ride a home.

If you see sincerely both of them have a reason for their break up. He even tries to contact her but they messed up all those things. He actually cares for her from the beginning when they were in school. But he is not expressive that's it. You should read the novel to clear it up. it's beautiful when you actually read his point of view. & then you get annoyed by Her. But still, different people have a different way of expressing their love but in the end, if they love each other they can short out all their problems. that's what they did. there was a line in this novel where she asked him when he started liked her he replied I don't know. then added I know how to cut open a person’s chest, I know how to do a heart bypass surgery, I know how to change a heart valve, but I really don’t know why I like you.” “In the past when I was really tired or dispirited, I would always think, if only Chen Xiaoxi is here. She is so dumb, if I were to look at her I would probably think that life is just like this, there’s nothing extraordinary.”.... that's how he expresses his feelings towards her.

After reading the novel, I can see why people are complaining about this scene. In the novel at least there are internal monologues that explain the situation but here we just had to figure things out.

@@linger368 its been awhile since I read the novel but if I'm not wrong it mentioned how conflicted he was when they first broke up and how wronged he felt (plus many other explanation) that it led up to this very moment but the novel and drama had slight differences for this particular arc of the storyline
