ENFP vs INFP Personality Type

Фильм және анимация

Since launching the ENFP and INFP Soul Bootcamp programs the NUMBER ONE QUESTION I have been getting is 'I have the NFP part figured out but not the E or I... help!' I got my best friend to join me for a tipsy conversation about the differences between our two MBTI types. The quick version: They're VERY similar. The long version: Well... you're going to have to press play.
P.S. The Soul Bootcamp programs for both ENFPs and INFPs are open for registration until October 2nd, 2020! Check'em out at www.heidipriebe.com

Another one Fi is more optimistic and free flowing from Fi doms. For ENFP the Fi is more pessimistic more parental and used to guide peoples morality. Ne for the infp is more pessimistic and more responsible about considering options about the future. Infps are control and move slower because they are thinking about the outcome of said actions. Enfps are very movement progress oriented and less focused on outcome and just moving. The infp could be social due to the affinitive nature meaning people focused. It's an NF quality.

@@random-accessmemory9201 Both Enfp and Infp can be optimistic or pessimistic. The fact is that for Enfp, it's Fi that is negative, while for Infp, it's Ne. I think the point is that, sometimes, you could be blind to your dominant function and only see the good in it. Instead, other times, the auxiliary one is disregarded (especially with loops and grips) or used in an unhealthy way, "feeding" the concerns of the dominant one.

The one trait I don’t agree with enfp is that they can be fine with people being around all throughout the year cuz for me personally I get drained by people at times,I need to be alone. But again I miss them crazily and it’s easier and even fun to be with the ppl you love but still you need that alone time no matter what. I'm an ENFP. When I am in a mentally healthy place, I find myself doing TONS of social activities, calling up all of my friends or sometimes just going out to make new friends, and wanting to go-go-go feeling really bored or stir crazy if I have to spend time alone. So sometimes I literally will schedule in "Me Time" like an actual appointment so that I don't let anyone "book over" it. And even then it's hard to stick to my guns and not call someone up on the fly. But I feel like when I'm struggling with mental health, I can become really withdrawn, and so I don't want to go out and see anyone else and I hope that no one comes asking to see me either. But a lot of times, that's exactly what I need to get out of those funks. Anyway, would be interesting to examine what real "mental health" looks like with each personality type. That's what I was thinking of when you guys were discussing socializing.

@@docmars we met in high school. I think that made things easier. We masked ourselves a lot back then. Trying to fit in, so we kind of grew together. Also we grew through trauma... we were each other's escape. So really we were just really good friends. Basically what I lacked, he had and vice versa. We really pair together well as we are both very different. We respect each other's differences and often ask each other for advice or think "what would they do." It did take awhile for us to figure each other out. More so for him, even now he questions why I do things, but I just remind him that I'm not him. I really don't like to be not understood, known, accepted or treated unfairly. So I do call it out and will spend hours making sure he is educated in who I am... he's pretty much got it now, but when he's stressed he gets a bit frustrated with me. Still, we never argue, or fight. He is very loyal and prides himself in achieving greatness in the relationship. I have unrealistic fantasies that he himself likes to work towards. It sounds like I'm being bossy.and unrealistic, but I'm easy going and I understand that of myself. I'm just happy he cares enough about me to consider my expectations. We have similar interests and life goals. We both enjoy each other's company 24/7. My Dad is an Istj and my mum is Enfp. They seem to be good together too.

Hillary is a unique INFP in my opinion since she feels the need to be a part of a community. I used to be a hard core loner. Well I still am a little bit, but as I’ve gotten older I’m starting to want to gel with a group and see the value in that. Maybe it’s maybe maturity or Te development? I don’t know. But there’s a slight change for sure. Anyway, I love this! Please make more videos Heidi! Thanks! -INFP

Interesting! I totally understand the loner thing! So much of my childhood was comprised of me feeling like I was outside looking in. Like I didn't truly belong anywhere. But even-though I relate, I actually disagree a little bit about Hillary being a unique infp. Despite the loner thing, I'm also an infp who always wanted to be a part of a community or some group. I know that might seem contradictory, so I wanted to share my perspective. The way I think about it is this: infps tend to want acceptance from their peers. Not necessarily in a way that means being *entirely* understood, but just acceptance of who they are as people and that who they are is enough. And personally, I found that validation when I finally joined a community that was like minded and didn't fault me for my quirks in Highschool. And also! Infps (like any other introvert) need people for pretty much every reason under the sun *except* energy. I personally sought out emotional connection and philosophical stimulation when I was with my peers. So, I think that when you're surrounded by people who might have similar thoughts/feelings about something, that you are also more likely to find that those needs are met. And I generally found those people in communities I was interested in.

You look like sisters. :) I was professionally typed as ENFP 4w5 sp/sx, and have done a lot of self-inquiry and research over the years. It's a weird combo. I'm a lot more like INFP, yet definitely have the aspirational Te and Si demon. I love alone time, but I'll have KZread videos on all day because I like to hear someone talking, and need a lot of stimulation. Just, I hate Se and I can't handle a lot of Se stimulation - ie, big crowds, bright lights, noisy environments make my system crash because I have a highly sensitive nervous system. So, I interact a lot through the internet, phone etc. I love being in my apartment (SP) or one-to-one (SX). I'm very impatient, restless internally, more prone to quickly anger, and I find INFPs to be much more patient and better listeners than I am. I've made most of my big life decisions based on a flash of intuition I received in a moment, and just knew I would do that. Then I investigate how I feel about it and how to make it happen.

Websites, books and physical life experiments and experiences to contrast and zone in on your MBTI type. 2. Go through some enneagram tests, learn about enneagram and find out your enneagram type. Websites, books, resources, physical life experiments and experiences for zoning in your enneagram and related tritype, socionics and so on. 3. Finding out about attachment styles, figuring out your attachment style, learning more about attachment styles. How different attachment styles communicate. Resources for the same. 4. Learning about emotional intelligence. Different parts of emotional intelligence, where you stand in each aspect of EQ, how does applying EQ looks like? In different scenarios? Resources for the same. 5. Communication skills, what do they mean and understanding where you are at each skill, how communication skills play out in real life. Resources for the same. And so on, whatever you consider should be known to every INFP, ENFP and every person on the planet.

Such a good video full of insights! And omg YES I always tell people now to not trust the online tests because they're not accurate! Especially when it comes to ENFPs vs. INFPs, introversion/extroversion is so much more than how a person responds in social situations. Now I encourage people to read about the cognitive functions & dive headfirst into the breakdowns of each type until they find the one that resonates with them the most--MBTI as a whole can be such a valuable tool to give you insight into yourself & help you empathize/understand others, plus it gives us language to talk about our personal tendencies, strengths, shortcomings, etc. Which is amazing! It makes me sad when people discredit MBTI theory all together just because a fifteen minute internet quiz keeps giving them various or inaccurate insights.

Thanks for this video! I often test as as an ENFP but pretty sure I’m an INFP because my go-to when I am unhealthy is to introvert too much and go into my Fi-Si loop while ruminating on the past. The way you explained the feeling out getting sick from introverting too much and trying to meet all your own needs is something I go through a lot. I am also way more indecisive than impulsive which is an INFP thing. It’s very confusing, though, because there is absolutely nothing quiet or reserved about my natural demeanor and I love being the center of attention:I just tend not to initiate things. So basically I am an introvert who is loud AF. Does anyone else have this issue?

The situations you pinpointed regarding tertiary function and what happens when you skip over secondary function (and wow, has my Fi been neglected recently) makes so much sense that I'm an ENFP, and a turbulent one too, which can be easily mistaken for an INFP.

Interesting! That was really good. INTJ here. My ex-wife of 8 years and girlfriend after her (for another 8 years) are both INFPs. One of them definitely cleans and cooks routinely while the other one definitely did not do either. LOL. The one who did not clean was very orderly though with her clothes. And she was a major breadwinner so most of her energy went into her passion career. Y'all said your tertiary is your aspirational but I thought our inferior was our aspirational? I feel like my aspirational function is definitely my Se inferior because I'm always enamored with how well things COULD be if only I would put more energy into my Se (actions and environment). My tertiary feels more like my driving force (maybe the hidden agenda as they say) because it is the foundation of all my important values that underlie all my plans. I'd like to learn more about those roles.

I honestly thought i would have been looping Ne-Te in a non-social,isolated reclusive way through gaming and other such external sources of stimulation. I have been told i was too loud in public,i have also said things best left unsaid too. I would be very interested in knowing about how you said your body felt like it was on fire, because it kind of feels this way for me. I believe you've even done a sketch of it another of your videos. Edit: Part about Fi-Si loop for the INFP was v. interesting. Even the tones of your two voices line up with introversion and extroversion, in my opinion! Secondly, I could relate to almost everything that was said about the INFP's way of going through life and felt like all your considerations were pretty spot on. But watching the video, there was this thought that I just could't ignore: even though there are undoubtedly similarities between INFPs and ENFPs, as an INFP myself I find ENFPs super intimidating and I really can't seem to get along with them very well. Sometimes they can sound a bit insensitive, even rude, and their unpredictability freaks me out! I always feel uneasy around them😬. Am I the only one?

The first time I took a test was in a career prep course at a university. I got INFJ that time too like your friend. I've taken it since then a few times between several years out of curiosity and have since gotten INFP each time. I think they have shifted in correlation to the tasks I was focusing on at the time. With INFJ I was in college and trying to be organized and make concrete decisions for my life, so I wasn't allowing myself to use intuition or to fly by my pants - lots of trying to be mindful of the start and the end of my endeavors, along with the in-between. Nowadays, and in my natural state, I'm inclined towards making intuitive decisions based on the concrete information and knowledge I have and continue to seek out, and how to apply it or find work, and it's more natural for me to have a more intuitive approach in interpersonal relationships too. My environment is pretty organized though, which might not be characteristic of an INFP - but I think it's really important for me so that I can easily see what's possible for me to work on and the steps to take, without clutter getting in the way or making me tune it out with overwhelmed procrastination or really poor sense of time- the same goes with my mind and thoughts. Having a super organized environment lets the flighty intuitive side function much better with much more ease.

Also, when in conversation i usually meditate on words rather than going off the top of my head. Im usually trying to find the middle ground or relate in communication in some way to find where my values fit in to have more to say. As an INFP I usually have to move to the beat of my drum , to my flow cause i can feel like an imposter to myself if i dont. Maybe this is overthinking it slightly but majority of the time it can feel as if im just emotion instead of a body (weird) but the emotion usually hits first than rational or logic so i do my best to respect my emotions or just the way how i process things internally cause it can fuck me up if I dont. Heart on your sleeves are the definition of INFPs.

Also the speed of the Ne dom brain vs limitless emotional prioritization of Fi makes it obvious and it’s very evident in this video. Heidi ideas are bouncing around, converging, branching, and synthesizing to birth whatever she is saying AND as an ENFP I know there is the chronic problem of single line communication aka you can only get one sentence out at a time and it’s always just the tip of the iceberg. On the flip side the INFP seems to constantly react and notice their own emotional state and what precisely is affecting it such as seating position, video perception, conversation balance, etc.
