Yes, I refuse to use them. They ruin so many kid toys. They are OK in something like a smoke detector that tells you when they are dead. If they are in a kid's toy that doesn't get used daily, once they die they self-destruct.

This test is not conclusive. Four very cheap flashlights were used as the load. Those are not manufactured very well at all. I would have been best to use the same flashlight for every test. There's no way the Amazon batt can even approach Energizer either. The difference is night and day. Energizer wins every time.

Energizers ruined my Nikon flash that were only left in the flash for 24 days. Never again. But, I will say. Energizer stood behind their guarantee. After sending them the flash and batteries, they sent me check for the retail price of a new flash, to the tune of about $300.

I like the idea but there's a very serious flaw with using LED light output for testing this way. Simplifying a bit, LEDs have a characteristic called Forward Voltage (Vf) at which they begin conducting and producing light. As the input voltage drops to that value they become very dim. However, even between LEDs of the exact same type and model this value can vary drastically. And so as your battery voltage goes down and approaches this value, the point at which the light goes dim will differ from flashlight to flashlight. A difference in load resistor resistance between flashlights will also cause some flashlights to drain more quickly. You can get around this by using one flashlight and running the test multiple times, or by using another load that can be accurately replicated. As it is, it's unfortunate to say but you should not draw ANY conclusions about relative battery life from this test. I won't vote it down out of respect for the attempt but I hope you will make a disclaimer on the video or description that these results should not be relied upon. I'll check back in a while and if I don't see a response only then will I down vote it. I really hope you'll make a follow-up video because I appreciate that you actually selected batteries of the same class here (standard alkaline) unlike in countless other videos where "heavy duty" or lithium-based batteries are mixed in. Thanks for reading and for the upload.

Very interesting concept, I had no idea that there could be such a variance among identical LEDs. I've seen more than a very well produced videos using battery testers reading the total mah capacity of batteries, however none showing useful life. As I stated in the video I'd love to repeat it with a high drain appliance, unfortunately though this channel was a victim of the great demonitization of 2018, so it no longer makes sense for me to purchase all the supplies just to make these videos. I plan to continue making videos of products I purchase for personal and work use, but these kinds will likely fade away.

@@tech-medicnj108 I'm sad to hear that. KZread is definitely worse-off without these kinds of videos from small channels. I found this video looking for some independent testing and was shocked to see how few videos there were. I was excited to find yours and was actually planning to make a purchase decision based on it before I began to have my doubts. That's why I think it would be worth adding a note about not drawing any conclusions.

The Energizer Ultimate Lithium primary cell would have blown them all away. Way more capacity, lower self-discharge (much longer shelf life), and far better low temperature operating. Best battery for flashlights sitting in your glove compartment.

This test was pretty specific in that it only applies to low power consumption devices. Should be pretty accurate for things like remote control, clocks, and other small flashlights. Under a medium power draw like that from an Xbox controller the batteries are likely to perform differently.
