Uhhh, the movie is NOT underrated. It was a box office hit, a lot of people love it, and (especially nowadays with the government monitoring everything and everyone), it's one of the most-talked-about Will Smith movies. That's anything but underrated.

I wouldn't say underrated, especially with the star power in this movie. However, perhaps way ahead of its time for sure.

Good movie. Just watched it last night. Funny or not this scene is when you knew how smart Dean was. Killing two evil birds with one stone? Priceless.

Tom Sizemore was great in the 90s and early 2000s. Too bad he got hooked on drugs, he was one of the most reliable supporting actors of his generation

I have this scene since 2010 in my playlist. It's a good example of "How to kill two birds with one stone." He played off the crooked NSA faction and the mafia mob against each other.

Good thing they never figured that out. If they did, Will Smith's character would have been seriously doomed. After all, both sets of bad guys want him dead.

The only play Dean had to get both the CIA and the mob off his back. Have them talk about two totally different tapes thinking each was talking about the same one, and then kill each other over it.

You know something that with the pod that bugs me out about this movie that they were talking about two different teeth but they didn’t notice will smith play awesome in the park and it was awesome amending

love how they're talking about two different tapes.

Such a satisfying ending to an intense movie. The whole movie is running from bad guy after bad guy, it's breathless. Fun ride.

I dissed Satan online and someone has been shooting emf at me from satellite ever since.

Without a DOUBT..this is one of the BEST shoot-out scenes out there !!!

I hope I'm not the only one that sees this scene and laughs my head off lol :) It's just hilarious that the 2 bad guys and their supporters end up shooting each other with the hero hiding under the table. It's bloody hilarious! I love it for its comedy instead of the seriously I'm supposed to do.

4:05-4:08 was one of the biggest No-U moments in history.

The most "gangster" ending I've ever seen in a movie. Makes the stand off in Reservoir Dogs (at the end) look LAME!!!!

Tom Sizemore what a legend, he should have played more wise guys, had a short role but was absolutely amazing, very genuine. I wish he was in the Sopranos

The catch in his voice when he says "The end of the world." is EPIC! Talk about foreshadowing...

When an unstoppable object meets an immovable force.

"You're either incredibly smart. Or incredibly stupid." Two of the most simple yet important lines in this film, if not possibly the history of cinema.

This scene is just perfect, i remember when i first watched this movie back in 2003 & still watch it till today, even though it came out in 1998, but this this scene is hardcoree!

Is it bad to say this scene makes me laugh my head off? Hope I'm not alone...

The camera angles are perfect. You could tell when the mobster said "The end of the world" and the way he held his gun, someone was gonna die. I love the whole tough mobster and special agent types of deaths, standing there and just taking the bullets while still firing. But I think the fight would have been cooler had the mobster just gotten fed up and shot someone in the head just for fucking around with "the wrong guy."

Too many first class people try to bust into Italian food joints.- Enemy Of The State Movie

One of my most favorite movies because it's reminiscent of America since the NSA wiretaps. And I liked Tom Sizemore's (the mafia boss) part where he was first up for negotiation and then as he got more frustrated, he became more rigid and uncompromising, "What will it take to get that video tape? The end of the world."

This scene had me on the edge of my seat.

Walk into a mafia place with mafia members and ask the boss to give up the videotape which incriminates him.. thats going to go well!

Never mess with the Italian mob. Their alias of what they had called their place of some Italian restaurant,had been a social club. If you had seen the movie,then you would know that Will Smith's character Robert Clayton Dean had been practically face,-to-face with the main head honcho of that Italian mob. If you were in that situation,and had been told (*not asked*) to sit down,and Will Smith's character had said "No,I'm fine, thank you." Then the head honcho of that Italian mob says "No,you are *not* fine. " Then he meancingly says "Now sit your ass *down.* " (As Will Smith's character Robert looks around,and sees that there are others that are there in the same room with the head honcho.... then thinks better of it. And then sits down.) If you were smart,you did. Just like if any federal agent has his or her gun *drawn* on you,and says "Drop your gun on the ground,kick it to me, *slowly* ,and asks you to "Put your hands on top of your head." If you were smart,you did.😁😎

That's how you go out with a bang.

This is one of the most epic shoot out scenes ever

Then you get the pay off that Jon Vought (I can't spell his surname properly) is the main villain of this movie

I don't know why but I am obsessed with this shoot out. It just keeps playing over and over in my head.

The fact that they were talking about two completely different tapes. Pretty clever on Will Smith's part

It's all because the grammar of the English language. Had they been using "a" tape instead of "the" tape it would make the whole different outcome. Gotta say not the best one for Will Smith :D

I think the reason why Kruger meant to shoot the mafias is because he had them all in his sights. He wanted to flank them all, not knowing one of the cooks had a shotgun with him. What a way to end a mexican standoff!

This has to go down as one of the best shootout scene ever on film! Will Smith came in with two foes on his back, played them against each other and they robbed each other out. Brill could not go in there as he made the tape for Will Smith.

only the rock showere scene beats this :)

I think he wanted to entice them to go into the restaurant and hence himself to be able walk out of the vehicle.

This all could have been resolved if will smith had just slapped tom sizemore.

I love how "Enemy of the State" is rated R like "True Romance," yet the shootout scene is camera-shaky and less bloody than the one from Tony Scott's previous film. Were the makers trying to go for a PG-13?

i always wondered what made Kruger (guy with submachine gun) bust in asking everyone to drop their weapons. He clearly heard Reynolds tell everyone to put their guns away. Ah well, this happens when guys get itchy trigger fingers. One shot causes a full blown shootout. Epic scene though. Favorite part of the movie.

I have just watched true romance a few minutes ago and had kind of a dejavu remembering the ending of enemy of the state. That explains the similarity between those movie scenes!

FBI is watching the National Security taking hostage in order to receive the tape in a Mafia territory. I love it.

The whole movie I was like: oh that guy got killed, how sad. Where's my Popcorn? Oh, another one died, yeah I'm sure that's horrible but I have to go to the restroom. Then the cat showed up and I was like: IF YOU EVEN TRY HURTING THIS CAT NOONE'S GONNA SURVIVE
