Good info. I think for my wife's Prius this is more than enough. Only we have a sub panel in the garage that supplies power to the jacuzzi. Can I install this unit, using a sub-panel, or need to re-run wires from the main panel?

I already have my wiring and garage ready to go for installing a L2 charger for my Tesla MY. Curious if you have any perspectives on the install of the Juicebox/CP vs. the Tesla Wall Charger. It seems the install is much easier on the Juicebox/CP because you can simply mount and then plug into the outlet vs. Tesla, where I'd have to likely get a professional install.

Interesting. I get 32-33/miles an hr on my M3 with a direct plug into a 50 amp charger. My utility offers these up a 80%+ discounts but it seems it's simply not worth it if you have a 40 or 40 amp circuit. You can just plug the Tesla cable in directly to the nema outlet like I do.

Hi @seattlevkk, thanks for the comment and question! I actually have an entire video series on the Chargepoint charger, so feel free to check those videos out as well! If you can splurge and spend the extra money I would say that overall the Chargepoint is better in my opinion. Better build quality (and smaller form factor), I also like the handle better, the mobile app is more user friendly, and Chargepoint is a more established brand with thousands of away from home chargers. Plus Chargepoint has better customer service (24/7). Hopefully that helps! I would really appreciate if you use one of my affiliate links if you decide to buy either chargers (it would really help my small channel out). Also subscribe and like it you haven’t done so already! Let me know if you have any other questions! And BTW, what type of EV do you have?

@@evunite1 Thanks for the info. Yes, I did watch both the reviews but wasn’t clear which was better. Your input is really helpful. I was wondering whether it was worth spending the extra 100$ on the chargepoint. The reviews for the Juicebox app are really bad so that did give me pause. I don’t have an EV yet, but have put a deposit on the new VW ID.4 which I’ll probably receive in Q2 of 2021. I was thinking for sure my next car was a model Y until I saw the VW and so I want to stay Tesla neutral since while I may own a Tesla in the future, I definitely won’t be exclusively Tesla. However, with the federal credits currently expiring end of this year, figured I’d better get a 40amp level 2 smart charger installed even though I won’t have an EV until next year. Great well structured reviews btw and didn’t find information on the app anywhere else. Your walkthroughs of the app was very informative.

@@seattlevkk thanks again for the positive feedback, I am glad I am able to help you make your decision. I am interested to see the VW ID.4 in person! That makes sense to buy the charger now if tax credits are going to expire. Based on your feedback, I am planning to do a side by side comparison video of Chargepoint Home Flex vs Enel X Juicebox, but that probably won’t be released for a few weeks. When you think about the charger as a long term investment (something you will own for 5+ years) I think your best bet is the Chargepoint. Might as well have a nice charger to go with your brand new EV! Lol You can think of the money you plan to save with the tax incentives you mentioned to cover the extra $100-$150. Do you plan to mount the charger in a garage or outside?

@@seattlevkk That's a good choice. Even though many charger options are rated for outdoors, it is still better to mount in a garage (or at least covered) if possible. Have you decided which charger you are going to buy yet?

Hi @Maxwell Yass, I love the black paint job! It both wrapped and ceramic coated to protect the paint. It also makes water bead up and roll right off the car which is nice. Do you have a Tesla or EV? What model? What color?

@@evunite1 I currently do not have an EV, but looking to put the deposit down for a Model Y either in Oct/Nov. Trying to figure out what colour I want has been the hardest part of it all :P. Do you have any comments on the black paint before you wrapped and coated it? I am thinking of getting black, but not getting any wrapping or coating. I'm from Vancouver Canada, so sand/rocks/snow isn't as big of an issue when it comes to paint chips and such.

@@maxwellyass9269 Model Y is a great choice of course! You really can't go wrong with any of the color options, but I am biased towards the black. I also like the Midnight Silver Metallic a lot too. I live in the US in the Northeast where the roads can kick up small rocks and such, so the wrap helps protect from scratches and the salt during winter. If you have a NEMA 14-50 outlet why would you buy the 32A version? The dedicated 14-50 outlet should have a 50A breaker and so to allow for 20% overhead you would be pulling up to 40A. Using it this way you get no benefit vs the Tesla UMC (32A max) besides it being WiFi connected.

Hi @William Lawless and thanks for the comment and question! What state do you live in / what energy company do you have that they give the Juicebox to customers for free?! I always recommend that if you own a Tesla it is best to use a Tesla wall connector for charging. The Tesla wall connector is higher amperage (48A vs 40A) so it will charge a bit faster and will have Tesla support if you ever had any charging issues. That being said...hard to beat FREE! Hopefully that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions, Like and Subscribe and happy charging!

Level 2 chargers charge at 2X the voltage and up to 4X-5X the current (depending on the L1 and L2 chargers you are comparing). Therefore the power delivered to your car per hour is significantly more. Hope that helps!
