Thank you Harry for this brilliant video! Did the "Trans-Pyrenees" thingy 6 times between '84 and '93. Twice on a DR600, 4 times on a rally-ready XR600r (28 litres). What made it especially adventureous back then was no GPS and no maps for the spanish side of the border. ETA (Basque seperatist group) was fairly active back then and the topographic maps were completely white on the spanish side, aside from major roads (which we didn't use^^). It was all compass and altimeter navigation. Once had a very uncomfortable run in with Guardia Civil in the absolute middle of nowhere... Oh, I could go on and on... Really brought back memories... Thx

I'm at 20:00 ... Your mate in the lead isn't doing you any favors is he. He gets his rest and drink but doesn't let the others get theirs. I've experienced this in hiking and it's a load of shite quite frankly. It's poor leadership and dangerous. Despite all that it looked like a real experience.

All of our Adventure rides are like this. It is called a Napoleon Stop. As soon as the last rider shows up...the lead rider takes off. I am not endorsing it nor condoning it, merely stating that 'is the way it is'.

I was having issues with my camel back, which was leaking unless I put a stop on it, so I couldn't have a drink on the move. Jeremy wasn't aware of this and we needed to crack on to do the distance in the time. Did make filming a bit tricky, though, as I had to time turning the camera on and off to when I knew I could catch them up again. Thanks for watching

Not worth crashing over though. radio headset for communication would have been wise. Communication is vital when riding off road, a simple crash up there can be very dangerous.

Harry I was quite shocked when you said 300kms p/day, on the type of terrain you encountered that's a big ask of even a young experienced biker! Not suggesting you're not man enough but it's important in these types of events not to get outside one's comfort zone, I'm sure you realise all this. Surprised the guy in the lead wasn't more aware of the other people on this ride, I'm also surprised there wasn't more swearing, lol cheers

We Australians marvel at the Englishman's lack of experience with heat. 32 deg ! Harry that's not hot. 45 deg is hot. There are ways to manage heat. Cyclists now have good rehydration powders. These are excellent. They aid water replacement but also the electrolytes and some energy. Most importantly you need to spend at least a week acclimatising prior to exerting yourself in the heat. Excellent video. My favourite so far. Rule of thumb here in Australia for water when cycling in the heat (i.e. 35c plus) is 1litre of fluid per hour minimum. On occasion I have consumed 2l/h (with rehydration powder included)

I hold up my hand.... I'm one of your followers that has been troubling you for a bike video - and I haven't been disappointed! This was well worth the wait! What an epic adventure. It does look hard-going, I think you're being extremely modest about your performance there. I've seen dozens of Bike Tour videos of people hammering it round the roads of the Pyrenees, so it was a refreshing change to see someone cross it off-road. I didn't even know such a thing was possible! Certainly inspiring - gives me a flavour of what else is out there other than the standard bike tours most do. Anyway, it was very well edited and compiled and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers.

Fantastic trip, and a bit on memory lane, for me. I've made a slightly different route, passing North of Andorra, in 1979, in an Yamaha DT250. I was traveling along with two Spanish friends, riding an Ossa Enduro (lovely machine) and a Bultaco Frontera, in a sort of farewell ride, before I moved to Brasilia. The only problem I had was with the darn autolub, and we ran out of petrol a couple of times. I'd love to do that again. Thank you for such a lovely video and congrats for the trip. Cheers

That was a tough one; kudos for getting through it in one piece! The relentless pace of the lead bike, especially when you wanted to take a water break, seemed a bit at odds with the 'fun' element, though?! I wonder, how often did the fun (- like the water!,) evaporate? Good for you for taking the road on D3...that was a very sensible decision. I spotted Desert Rose; been there, done that! LOL Great vid, thanks for sharing! And the sound sounded fine!

Last summer I was a few miles south of Le Mans, travelled from Andora, looking for our nights layover, the turn off on the motorway came up just before the fuel station I was hoping to use! At first I thought I'd see If I supermarket or something, well a good hour later we'll into the French countryside, the orange light had long been blinking, it was about 11.30pm, and i was driving as slow as could in the highest gear possible meandering down the great French open sides country lanes, praying to the fuel Gods. We found one eventually, I brimmed the car and fitted in 67litres, into its 65litre tank! Never been so scared of running out as I was that night. I had the kids in the back and the wife sat beside moaning that she was starving. I was too, but never let on how close to disaster we was. We never did find food, the fuel was self service affair. We ended up eating crisp baguettes and breakfast bars before bed. Holiday adventures.
