MEDICAL ANIMATION TRANSCRIPT: Your paranasal sinuses are air-filled spaces in the bones around your nose. They are connected to the inside of your nose through small passageways. A thin layer of tissue, called nasal mucosa, lines the inside of your nose and your sinuses. This tissue makes a thick and slippery fluid, called mucus. Mucus keeps your nose from drying out, moistens the air you breath, and protects against germs, dust, and pollen. When your sinuses are healthy, mucus can drain freely out of your nose. Sometimes, your mucosa may become swollen and inflamed, causing your sinuses to be blocked. The blockage can trap mucus inside your sinuses. If this condition lasts more than three months, its called chronic sinusitis. If medication or other treatments arent helping, your healthcare provider may advise you to have surgery. Endoscopic sinus surgery is the most common procedure for chronic sinusitis. To start, the surgeon will insert a camera on the end of a thin tool, called an endoscope, into your nose. Images from the camera will be sent to a video screen so that your surgeon can see the inside of your nose. Then, your surgeon will look for and remove anything that blocks the opening to your sinuses. This will allow mucus to drain from your sinuses and improve airflow. After the procedure, you may have nasal bandages for a few days. Your healthcare provider will ask you to use a saline rinse to help you recover. Talk to your healthcare provider to find out more about endoscopic sinus surgery.

It doesn't sound dumb and there's nothing to be sorry about. You did well to ask about something you're not sure about. Endoscopic procedures that are minimally invasive, that where doctors use techniques to operate with less damage than an open surgery. For example instead of cutting your body open they can pass a tiny tubes in and be able to view through the help of a camera.
Wonderful
Tons of valuable information, thank you so much. It helped me a lot.
Thanks sir
I had this surgery in the end of November last year, there was a cyst in the right sinus. Still having chronic sinusitis unfortunately

I’m about to get my third sinus surgery, with the endoscopic being this times treatment. From my understanding, it should help my sinuses not be so swollen to allow medications to enter the nasal pathways easier, but by no means a cure. Just something to alleviate the complications that come from a lifelong treatment

Does this surgery cures bad breath? I've removed my tonsils thinking it was causing bad breath but now I think I have chronic sinus infection

I’d ask your dentist to see if you might have some slight gingivitis. That could cause bad breath. I have chronic sinusitis (I am getting surgery soon) and it does not cause bad breath, just rotten smell in your nose at all times. Your dentist of dental hygienist can show you how to floss properly or how to use interdental toothbrushes. Also brush your tongue, or use a tongue scraper. And get some good mouthwash. 👌🏻👌🏻 should do the trick!

As they are bone, they will grow after 2/5 years , so nothing will be beneficial, unless they put a filling or ring (like heart surgery) on that surgery area so that bones could not grow up .
Are you asleep during the procedure?
Figure out what causes the inflammation. Treat the cause. Why remove bone if the sinuses are correctly shaped? This should be an absolute last resort after all other options have been considered..
The middle turbinate should never be removed.
Thonk you
