Ending Qualified Immunity - Press Conference- Albany - 5/24/21
Momentum continues to grow for the push to end qualified immunity. On Monday, May 24th, I hosted a press conference in Albany with fellow legislators, advocates, and affected families to raise awareness about the need to end qualified immunity and push for my bill (S1991) to pass before the end of session. Our communities want justice and accountability now, and we will continue to fight to get this bill passed.

The citizen taxpayers should not have to pay for the crimes of cops or other officials.
The problem is government officials no matter what dept. have some kind of qualified immunity .

Clearly this is a family in distress and is in severe need of family counseling. I hope for a long and peaceful life of all involved that the counseling come sooner rather than later or not at all.
Monetary compensation is NOT justice. Being allowed to sue for rights violations is only a small step.

This went nowhere. The founding fathers KNEW how to remove tyrannical government.
The problem is if cities remove qualified immunity the city can just say they ar enot responsible and let you sue the cops that did it. And get the injured nothing because the bad cops will have nothing for you to get.
The main reason to end it is the citizens pay in the billions across America cause of Qualified Immunity.
Qualified immunity my arse! Its total and complete immunity! Theres no qualifying components!
