Yeah, but it doesn't hold a candle to Cuphead's animation. The Enchanted Portal devs should've gone for their own style instead of trying to piggyback on Cuphead's success by trying to use the same style Cuphead used. Hell, they could've even made it so that the artstyle would change in every level instead of it only happening during two specific boss fights.

Cuphead devs didn't invent the game's style nor were the first to make it, they took it from old cartoons to make the game, so they also took inspiration from them to make it, besides there are many different games that share the same styles and even ideas and the gaming community grows and gets better with what people contribute to the community and everyone starts using that to inspire themselves and make their own games adding those things or making other things based and inspired on those things, if it's good and it's inspired but not outright a copy of the exact game or games they took inspiration and ideas from and it's its own game then it's totally okay for people to do that, that's what people do all the time, there exist many farming games, many survival games, many shooting games, many RPG games with similar and inspired in other games mechanics. I'm not talking about this game called "Enchanted Portals", this game may not be the case, but I'm talking in general

I love your small sidesteps to the music in cow's dance part. Pressing keys to the beat is something I would also do, hah

It makes sense that the game is compared to Cuphead, as that is what they were going for. Considering this game was made by 2 people, in a fraction of the amount of time it took to make Cuphead (Cuphead was in development for like 9 years), I think they did well. One thing though, is that fighting the bosses don't feel engaging. I think the issue is more on the sound effects used, like Cuphead had good sounds for firing their finger guns. Another thing they could have added were something like knockout animations after beating a boss, rather than just ending it immediately and moving on. Also, phases between the bosses in Cuphead wasn't transitioned using single frames, but I understand that would take a lot more time to implement, so I understand why they did so. Other then that, it's an alright game.

This really exceeded my low expectations

The artistic direction of this game is (considering the resources they got) actually pretty good, mechaniclly it suffered a LOT at the begining, wich is tragic since, by the time those mechanics got (kind of) fixed, the precious time window to get the bulk of the sales had passed, still props yo the devs 👏👏

All it needs is sound effects and more boss attacks

And I mean all would ask for is sound affects but I mean this game could have been truly unique if you switched animation styles very world with new attacks every time

TL;DR: Its a okay game in my eyes. While i dont give out my opinion very often and im not a game developer nor have i played this game but i would say this is a pretty okay game considering that its made by two people. It has a bit of different mechanics (like the dodging mechanic in the flying & swimming levels), nice character designs and funny twists when it comes to the boss phases (a example being the princess getting kissed by the frog and turning into one). Maybe the sound effects (like shooting effects or sounds coming from the bosses) could be improved but honestly all i have to complain about. The cartoon artstyle is also pretty nice and i like the CGs that come during the bosses before you enter the next phase. The boss attacks are basic but i will turn a blind eye on that as it is hard to be original with boss attacks nowdays. I also like the tree phase during the final boss, it gives me "Tree of knowledge" vibes, same goes for the first phase where the final boss attacks you with different attacks the previous bosses used, that was very creative in my opinion. Yes, it is inspired by Cuphead. I wouldnt say that its a total ripoff, the game is trying to have its original story, its easier than the actual Cuphead and theres a possible continuation soon, so we have to be patient to see what that will bring us. Maybe during that time, the game has made some changes and improvements but once again, this was made by two people so this could possibly take a bit longer. I do think that 20$ is a bit too much but i theorize its because these people use a engine or art/animation program that requires a bit more money. Overall, i dont think others should judge too quickly because "Cartoon Artstyle + Shooter Game = Cuphead Ripoff". We have to wait and see what the future of this game will bring us.

At least a third of the bosses are blatant ripoffs of Cuphead bosses. The cow's final phase is basically just a really watered-down version of Dr. Kahl's Robot, and the hermit crab boss rips off Captain Brineybeard.

It's just a ripoff. yeah its impressive that 2 people made something, but all it amounts to is an uninspired ripoff that isnt very fun to play. I dont know why people would take what was basically a lifelong passion project of the cuphead devs and try to put themselves through that.

For me this is not a ripoff But an inspiration from cuphead But I despise this game Any other criticism except a ripoff one is valid imo This is mostly hated cause of the sound effect,balancing issues,bosses are underwhelming, run levels are atrocious Everything feels so slow(even the bosses which should nor be the case) Also the ost is generic therefore dull(with few exceptions) And the biggest culprit is the price 20 fucking dollars for this unfinished piece of crap 5 dollars should be not 20 The hatred for this game is justified I dont recommend this game in the slightest

Ok this game does have a lot of similarities to Cuphead but it definitely isn’t a ripoff it’s just too similar that it may be considered a ripoff to some I do like the story but I don’t like the goofy sound effects it just makes it look like the game isn’t taking itself seriously

wtf Did you try the game? Literal the game was copied from Cuphead but they did not do it with the same affection besides that it was still too much to be ready, it is a boring game with very impractical controls, the music is quite bad (only compare the music of the bosses in Cuphead with this) and the worst thing is the difficulty, Putting many enemies just to make it difficult is not enjoyable, that they hurt you because you do not see the attack coming because you are seeing 50 other things in screen, they just grabbed the idea of cuphead and simplified it and everything that could go wrong came out horrible, just play cuphead you don't have because playing this is a game just to get money from cuphead fans

Okay this my opinion but this what they should fix to make the game better... 1.) If the music was more of something else like Jazzy and upbeat instead of repeating the same thing over and over again! 2.) If they got rid of the Tim Burton art style! 3.) Better sound effects! 4.) More creative boss fights ! 5.) If they had better animation! 6.) better gameplay ! 7.) IF. THEY. WEREN'T. LAZY. 8.) If they didn't use glass shattering effect on the magic book battle!

9:01 the princess looks a lot like princess Peach And 20:20 this kid looks like the Colector from The Owl House

the graphic of the monsters looks ok (not good not bad) but it feels weird the movement, like they didnt want to put alot of effort to theyre best. Its like hey! lets do a game similar to cuphead and it dosnt matter how it looks ppl will give us money!

See, it’s so depressing how at first the kickstarter or whatever cooled cool and as time went on, people started to hope this means that the creators are really giving it their all. But when we get to the final product… the only thing good about it was the into cutscene, which still wasn’t the best. I just hope they learn from their mistakes and make a better cuphead ripoff or upgrade this game into something that is worth the same amount of money as cuphead.
