This soup is magic. Period. I'm a super white American, but having lived in Ecuador for a few years this soup is literally the best food on the planet. Unbeatable
Ecuador is one of the most culturally rich and beautiful places I’ve ever been to! I wish I could’ve tried this. I was even in Guayaquil!

🤤 I've had the broth only and let me say it was one of the most delicious soups I've ever had. I'm a vegetarian (15 years now) and did not eat the fish but man that broth packs some flavor 😋 and the plantain chips are so thin and crispy. A lady from Brooklyn sell these on Sunday's and by 9 am she was out of them! Plus she'd give out those little crunchy corn kernels (I don't know the name) I don't know if she still sells 🤔 this was years ago 🤷🏽♀️💕

Encebollado a base de pescado y yuca suave. .. Una delicia igual que el ceviche ecuatoriano más milenario que cualquier otro plato de la actualidad... Los incas recorrían miles de km hacía las costas ecuatorianas especialmente en la provincia de manabi ... cuyos habitantes manabas tenían la particularidad de nadar a más de 50 metros snm y esas sumergidos por más de 40 minutos em lugares como la isla de l a plata .. donde obtenían la concha spondylus sagrada para los incas .. y de la cual se elaboraban ya en ese tiempo el pescado fresco con hierbas tipo sopa. .. claro solp para personales de alto rango.
The picture you used for ceviche is actually Peruvian ceviche, Ecuadorian ceviche is different and does not have corn in it.

Manabi ceviche can be very similar to Peruvian ceviche, but yeah the pictures were wrong, that sancocho was not ours either
I prefer freshly baked bread with my encebollado over chifles. Every time I go back to the motherland I load up on my local dishes. Caldo de salchicha, encebollado, etc. Glad to see munchies do a piece on Ecuador.
I remember my uncle sending me and my cousin out to buy this and guitig after a heavy night of drinking. Being in the US since 5 damn I miss having good encebollado, I always liked it with fresh bread instead of chifles.

Man I miss having encebollado in Ecuador. There's really great ones here in the States too, but nothing beats waking up over there and going to get bowl for $1 with my uncle for breakfast.
i heard if you don't drink alcohol the day or night before you won't have a hangover.

Para que se den cuenta que el encebollado supera bastante al ceviche peruano , este plato es considerado el levanta muertos ya que te quita la resaca en cuestión de minutos una vez que lo pruebes y todo extranjero que lo prueba hasta piden receta , algo que el ceviche peruano no logra hacer ni incentivar . Saludos .

Albacora Is actually LONGHORN TUNA... you can use, cilantro, parsley and jinger for taste. When you blend the herbs avoid blending the ginger.

@@betty4774 not Paprika... is not the same. Just use some GROUND ANATO, garlic powder and cumin... oh and use LIME to serve. The ingredients you just mentioned would make it taste very weird.

Para cualquier peruano que vea este video, el ceviche que mostraron en la foto no es ecuatoriano, ese es el suyo. Nuestra versión es completamente diferente, no tiene similitud en ningún aspecto más que el pescado y limon🥴 La diferencia más notoria es que acá no lo comemos ni con camote ni con tanta verdura más que con chifle o canguil en la sierra

At the first place he went to I'd say 2 to 3 dollars, and the last place probably around 8 to 10 dollars

Usually you can find a meal (appetizer, soup, desert and fresh juice) for around $3. This sort of food can run between $3-5

The good stuff is between $3-$5 in most cities. High-end encebollado can go higher, but it's not going to be much better than the $5 bowls anyway. They have simple cheap bowls in the countryside for as low as $1. But it's kinda like going to get a burger worth $10 vs $3, you're getting the quality of what you pay for.

Shrimp is usually an add on, regular encebollado uses only albacore or some other type of tuna

El encebollado no es tan sopudo. Y yo nunca me lo e comido con chifle. El chifle le quita el sabor a la yuca. El encebollado no lleva gengibre.

@@Andres-wj5lb En donde? Toda mi vida el encebollado Guayaco es con tostados, Y en ese tiempo te lo vendian de 4 reales o un Sucre. El de 4 reales eran para los pelados que no teniamos mucho dinero y nos lo davan en vandejita chiquita, el de sucre era mas grande y todos se le ponia tostados. Chifle? Como le vas a poner chifle? Si el platano una vez que se enfria se pone duro y save a manteca. En mi barrio nunca me lo dieron con chifle, ni tan sopudo.

Fidel Gonzalez Fidel Gonzalez No se si el encebollado que comías era preparado por alguien costeño. Dices que eres de Guayaquil y comes el encebollado con tostado? Sabes que el encebollado con tostado y canguil se originó en la sierra no? Pregúntale a cualquier costeño si comería encebollado con tostado haber que te dice. Si incluso hay discusiones entre serranos y costeños, los costeños se burlan de los serranos por comer encebollado con tostado y canguil. Y es obvio que el chifle tiene que estar crujiente. Nunca había conocido a alguien de Guayaquil que prefiera el tostado antes que el chifle. Lo del jengibre no te discuto porque eso es algo solo de ese restaurante.

@@Andres-wj5lb El encebollado que comia en esos tiempos, era de la calle. No restaurante! Una Sra. o Sr. con una bandeja llena de Yuca y pescado. En una ollita tenia el caldo. en una vandejita la salsa. en otra ollita chiquita la tenia llena de tostado. Habian veces que solo tenia para el tostado. Y por 2reales te daban un puñado de tostado. Habian veces que te daban un poquito de encebollado por 6reales. Pero el plato entero era un sucre. Esa señora no tenia donde estar friendo nada. Ya todo lo tenia preparado. Ella solo lo preparaba ahi parados. Mi abuelita cuando lo hacia... Me lo daba con un plato de arroz. Mi abuelita hacia hasta Encebollado de pollo. Queda super bacansicimo. Tambien lo hacia de las latitas de Atun y sardina. Habian veces que lo hacia con Melloco. Y todo esto era hecho en Guayaquil.
A 26 peruanos no les gusta este vídeo. :v

Uh, nope. In english equator relates to the line, and Ecuador is the country. Thus, someone born in Ecuador is EcuaDorian. If you're simply translating from spanish 'ecuatoriano', then sorry, you're wrong...
