to be fair I have a feeling because she's so quiet, and her Mother can be so explosive, that maybe she tried to tell people but stopped after the whole family started refusing to hear about him. Her Mom develops a storm the second someone mentions Bruno's name so she probably realized that Bruno is an emotional trigger for Pepa. not sure if that's wrong or not, just seems like Dolores shy's away from things that can get her into trouble but is fine if it's someone else's secret. She is also the first one to expose to the town kids that Mirabel doesn't have a gift so from what it sounds like; she's not as sensitive to Mirabel since she's her cousin and not in her closer family.

@@-M00n_897- Pepa is the nickname of the name Josefina, so I think that's her real name (That happens with a lot of names in spanish actually, like we call "Nacho" the Ignacios, or "Pancho" the Franciscos)

i actually feel Luisa's pain when she was being asked to get the piano but she was weak and got up crying with a wobbly frown and no one asking wtf is wrong - literally the family did not care about their family and only relied on the gifts

Everyone has been so conditioned by Abuela it's crazy. Like it's never brought up as far as I remember but Julieta is cooking 24/7 for the town and the family day in and out, no wonder she's prematurely graying. I think the limited run time of the movie is also to blame, Camilo got the shaft when apparently he was supposed to have identity issues, Pepa's side of the family is less focused on to the point where they all needed to share a song to get screentime, Mirabel's parents don't really talk to either of their older daughters apart from Augustin running about Luisa and some plot inconsistencies elsewhere too.

Literally if they had sat at the table in ANY OTHER ORDER, the secret would not have made it that far. You can be sure Pepa is not keeping secrets from her twin sister. You can be damn sure Felix is not keeping secrets from his wife. Camilo.... well, maybe Camillo's just not good at secrets but that got offloaded like a forest fire. Poor Dolores at 4:10 is like, "Damn, I can't hear nothing. I thought not having this power would be nice. Now I just want my cousin back."

Right cause Pepa was originally going to sit next to Luisa, but Mirabel took it so she could be right across from Delores and make sure she wouldn’t say anything, and to further question Luisa… Wait no I’m mixing it up a bit, because when she questioned Luisa that was outside and the house moved her down next to Abuela so forget that first part… However if she sat were Pepa sat (In between Juliette and Felix all the way at the end) then she wouldn’t be able to stare down Delores. So I’m still kinda right. Sorry if this whole thing was confusing

It's like with children, the constant noise can get on your nerves but, the silence is terrifying.

Can all my guys (and gals too) take a moment to appreciate that all the main male characters in this film are super positive and great human beings (and not idiots ether)! It’s not the most common thing to see in media so I want to praise it and be thankful for it when I see it. Two amazing fathers, a selfless pure of heart uncle, and two cousins who are really sweet caring young men!

yeah it was really awesome to positive portrayals of all the young and older men. Feliz and Augustin are supportive dads that love their wives and have a great relationship with their kids. Camilo is a trouble maker but got to show how caring he can be with his mom (and Mirabel in a subtle way). Mariano looks traditionally macho, and is also sweet and has a big heart (when he could've been an easy Gaston/Hans 2.0). His biggest flaw is he gets a little carried away with his romanticism, but it's played for laughs rather than totally negative (He: "let's get married

Well, if it helps, I’m currently working on a comic where the female protagonist outright opposes sexism against men. Like, even if you make light jokes about men, she goes on an angry tirade, because she sees boys as the little guys who need a leg up in society. And likewise, all the male characters will be very well rounded and likeable. Well, sort of - the dad is a bit of a sexist prick, but he means well for his kids; he’s just misguided.

Mood. I didn't love this movie overall (love the concept tho or I wouldnt be here) but those kids at the start were my first hint I wasn't going to love the way the movie was executed. It was like the movie goes out of its way to make them as obnoxious and disturbing as possible.
