extreme sports are probably the only sports where the competitors are actually hyped for each other. ofcourse everybody wants to win, but they are happy for their friends, no rivalry whatsoever

@@p1roncho Yeah, most of the competitors just get stoked on each other when they're killing it. I'm hoping for a Ryan Decenzo win next year. I'd love to see him take one.

⁠@@fullyfb3847Same. Decenzo will be 38 this year. He probably doesnt have many competitions left. Im super amazed how Decenzo still manages skate and do crazy stairs almost at 40. Dude is beast and pushing skateboarding to next level

@GollumFromMordor I know he is really on one. I met him in line at a concession stand at an SLS event like 4 years ago, and he was as cool as they come. Super hyped, humble, kind, and just genuinely happy to be there. A few people in line were talking to him, and he just couldn't have been more awesome. I have a lot of respect for Ryan. Legendary dude. 😅

Ngl Nyjah has grown on me last couple’s years. Cool to see his level of maturity and humility grow together. Also, the level of athleticism and how serious he takes his performance is way cool

man, I will never forget that time I went to one of the second street leagues in chicago and Nyjah ollied over that high barrier that prevents people from getting onto the course and he did it so casual, it was really cool to see. something that will never leave my mind.

I hear you. I no longer live up there and I probably would of never bought tickets but my g/f at the time was the one who bought them for me. I am not with her anymore and I hold onto some bitter feelings to her but that was one thing I will never forget about her. you could say she was the one who got away forsure. she was the only g/f who really ever bought me stuff.. most all my g/fs always take and never give like she did but oh well. thanks for responding. Nyjah is successful and has reached unparalleled heights with his skills but damn those shorts have taken him back so much in terms of his credibility with "core" skaters. I think it also limits him on the way we perceive his style. He would have won SOTY every year with a different getup...it's a bold choice for sure.
