I visited Thurmond, West Virginia last month and was fortunate to see a CSX coal train coming through. During the coal mining days of the New River Gorge, Thurmond was a major railroad hub. It had a downtown street adjacent to the railroad tracks with several businesses and hotels. It also had facilities for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. Today, the town is home to a historic train station, and a few remaining buildings and structures. I would like to make an entire video about Thurmond and it's history, but for now, please enjoy this capture!
