Empty Churches? Go TO the world and preach!

This summer, I traveled 18,000 miles to visit every Major League Baseball stadium and evangelize in each. Even if you don't like baseball, I think my experience has something to teach about how we engage with the outside world.

Padre, I am so thankful we had the chance to meet in the New Orleans airport that day. Sorry beyond words that your flight to Atlanta was canceled and you had to get on a different one. I wish I could’ve just put you on the bird I was flying and taking you right there but orders are orders… I doubt very much that my airline would’ve understood. I continue to pray for your continued success and remain a very enthusiastic fan of your channel and your work. Fair winds and following seas to you, Father…

Wow, this one goes deep. Yes, go out into the world where the people are. For me seeing priests wear cassocks this summer in France (where I was volunteering) made me realise priests have gotten almost invisible because of the 'normal' clothes they wear. But those priests wearing cassocks stood out, and they were conversation starters. I went out into the world and will continue to do so!

I work for the St. Louis Cardinals and was pretty surprised to see you and Father Tito at Busch Stadium. I hope you noticed my Miraculous Medal. I wear it to every game on my name tag. We sometimes celebrate Mass at the stadium. Our President of Baseball Operations and our General Manager are Catholics too. Archbishop Rozanski of the Archdiocese of St. Louis also threw out the first pitch.

I was recently telling my Church group that the church needs to do more secular (meaning this world) advertising. We need to talk about creating a nework of personal relations, better family stability, and group getaways. People need to be told the mortal benefits of being part and adopting our values.

@@tennicksalvarez9079 the truth is you don’t evangelize anyone. All you can do is answer questions they have and ask them questions. Get them to research their own answers by providing a source like a book, article or video they can watch. This is necessary because they often won’t believe what you tell them … especially if they don’t see you as being knowledgeable about the subject or if you really don’t know much. People who are curious are searching for God. And they will seek out knowledge to learn more. So you just help them along by planting a seed (source of knowledge they can go to) … if they are truly open to God they will begin to connect dots towards belief. If they are closed to the idea … then there is nothing you can tell them to convince them. The last thing you can do is pray to God for them that he will light their faith on fire and that they will receive his glory

One side note, if you end up doing another similar trip in the future, it would be great to have videos like this interspersed throughout your trip, so we get a better picture of why you're out there (and breaks up the monotony of food reviews & stadium ratings!)
